On Friday my 2006 RX350 started making a loud 'lawnmower' type sound when accelerating and decelerating. By the time I got it to the mechanic , about 20km's, all the oil had almost leaked out and he diagnosed it as a faulty oil hose component, the refilled oil was literally spraying out of the car!

It was replaced and the mechanic said it would be pinging for a few days but it is now five days later and it is still the same pinging noise (sounds like when you were a kid and put a card in your bike spokes!) . Should I be worried? I will take it back tomorrow but would just like some insider info if possible!

Thank you. Yes that is the complete price. I think I will head to a local Toyota dealer and see what they come up with.

I have been told I need a new oxygen sensor (warning light on dash and no VSC) and did a quick google for the part. Some came back at $40 yet Lexus has quoted $650 and so has a local mechanic.

Is there really such a differential in off market and Lexus prices??

I have recently damaged my right front wheel and it needs to be replaced. Just wondering if you can go with a second hand one or what is best . Have been quoted $800 to replace and $245 for Maxxis HTT50 tyres.

If second hand ones are available does anyone know of a place in Victoria that would sell them?

I have a 2007 Lexus RX350 bought second hand this year. It had 34,000k on the clock but hadn't been regularly serviced so I took it in straight away and was happy to pay the $680 for the service to get it up to date. However, I just took it in for a 45,000km service and it cost me $1000! Again, happy to pay this (it did include fuel flush and wheel alignment) if it is needed but how do others feel about getting their cars serviced elsewhere?

I am hesitant to do so with a prestige vehicle but if others have had success it might be worth considering.
