  1. Your 9" wheel is an extra 1 1/2" wider [ 38 mm ] than the standard rim , that means you will have approx 14 mm less clearance on the inside and 24 mm extra width on the outside with the 35mm offset .

You need to measure from the surface of the hub to the shock then take 5 mm off that for some clearance .

You can then work backwards with an offset calculator , there's a good one here http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator .

You will then be able to work out the maximum width you can have .

  2. Well had the car a couple of weeks now and it's great !!

So far doing 9.8 l/100k........which is way better than than the 20 to 22 l/100k the bridgeport 13b was doing !!

I can also have a " normal " conversation in the car and actually not only have a stereo but can actually hear it !!

Also have done my first mods , blue LED for the key light and the dash as well , heater controls next .

Have seen the heated seat button changed to blue for the symbol and red for the on light.....have to do that !!

The cd stacker has to go also , getting error 3 now and again , a 7" touch screen will go nicely in the hole and it will modernise the look as well .

Have just ordered a titanium tip cannon for the rear , now just need to source a rear standard muffler and pipe so I can use it as a jig .

Very happy about it being a Platinum Edition , nice to have one of only a hundred !!

The paint colour is awesome , not silver but not bronze either .

I have seen other Platinum's listing their build number like 39 of a 100 , how do you find out/tell what build number it is ?

Is it part of the VIN number , have done a lot of searching but I can't seem to find out......Help .

Enough for now will report back when I lower it a bit , 1/2 to 3/4" in the front 1 to 1 and a 1/4" in the back .

Would like to hear from other Platinum owners ?

  3. Have just fitted bigger wheels to the IS , so far have changed the under mirror lights to blue LED's [ second mod ] but the first mod was some Lexus chrome valve caps which a friend visited with on the day we picked up the car , how nice was that .

Had the car about 4 hours and already had the first mod done !!

I was fortunate to come across some RAYS Volk racing wheels , 17x8 plus 32 and 17x9 plus 40 , the 32's go on the front just fine , about 4 mm inside the guard and of course the rears in a plus 40 go on no worries .

Only just got them fitted last night so will post some pics when I take some !!

I really wanted to go 17x8 all around so I can do front rear swaps for tyre life but when you can get Racing Volks for the same budget...who cares !!

The lightness of the wheels is awesome and you can actually feel the difference going over bumps .

The car now has 255/40/17's on the rear and 235/45/17's on the front , which are the tyres that came with the rims , when they wear I might be able to go to 245's all around so every 10,000K's I can still do front rear swaps , we will see .

But for now I can't believe I'm fortunate enough to have Racing Volks on the car !!!

  4. Hi all , have just gone from a LS400 to a IS250 Prestige , car is 4 years old with just over 100,000 K's on it .

My wife is very very pleased with the new car , especially as it's averaging around 8.5 L per 100 K around town .

Look forward to being part of this site .

    Best Regards...Rich
