  1. Anyone have any experience with these on the 2IS platform? I haven't had much luck finding a second hand set of FSport shocks/springs for a 2IS 350 so am looking into coilovers

Im not looking for a performance upgrade, just a comfortable and compliant ride, i need to replace the rear shocks due to a leak so thought while im at it i may as well gain a small drop in ride height .

Hi Vukie, did you do the front or the rear? Have you noticed rust on the inner edges of your DBA rotors? Although the overall diameter is the same, DBA rotors have more inner surface (about 1cm comparing to OEM's) where the pads can never touch. I was told by both my mechanic and DBA Australia that this is normal.

Yep, the rust is normal, its a steel disk it will rust if not used.

  3. Hi guys, im looking to get some headrest monitors for the kids so they have something watch on long trips, what i would really like to do is integrate the factory nav system into the setup so i can control what the kids are watching from the front seat without having to reach over to the back and swap DVD's while im driving. I have a 2011 IS350 with the standard non ML nav meaning i cant play DVD's from it.

The easiest way i think would be to get one of the iVic products from vaistech. this would allow me to mirror an android device onto the nav screen and then play any video file i want while on the move has it had an override for that too. But this bring me to my next hurdle, how to i get a video feed from the nav screen to the headrests? I have been told the factory lexus Nav does nto have an AV out and neither does the iVic, im sure the would be a wire somewhere in teh factory loom for video i just need to know which one if is and tap into it, it seems like someone else has had this issue too and come up with a solution as per the below but this was on a ML system so it looks like it is possible as per the vid below....

Has anyone in Aus done this before and do you know which wire i would need for the video feed?

  4. the guy i went to was great, he did all the leg work for me chasing disks and pad as at the time DBA didnt have them in stock, he had trouble finding a suitable performance street pad for me and when i mentioned the price of the stock pad we both agreed spending 2.5 - 3 times the price on a "performance" pad was just not worth it on a car which for me is just a family/daily driver... if i were tracking it then sure spend the extra but i think the standard pads on the is350 work just fine.

  5. Hi Guys,

im due for front brakes on the IS350 and have been quoted $950 by lexus of chatswood which i think is absolute madness, can anyone tell me what after market options they are using? This is a family car so i dont need a performance pad, something that is the same as OEM spec and low dust would be great.

Also are the front rotors machinable? the current front rotors have about 80k on them and there is a decent lip on them, if they are machinable does anyone know what the minimum thickness for the front rotors are before then need replacing?

    Cheers

  6. I'm running the same sizes, Rears will fit without any issue. The front will rub on both side on the inner guard liners cabin side. There is a small hump that the tyre will rub on under light braking with the steering wheel in any position but straight. You can either wait for it to rub through or do what I did and get a heat gun, heat up the plastic and the push the offending bit of guard liner in, since doing this mine don't rub at all

  7. Hi All,

So the standard tyres in the IS350 have come up for replacement, I have been happy with the standard Dunlop SP Sport 2050 but at $450 a corner im looking for something a bit more cost effective, can anyone recommend what they are running? My priorities are a quiet tyre that is comfortable, long lasting and offers adequate grip/performance in that order.

Alos I don't like how the 225/40/18 tyre size looks on the front rims, are there any issues running a 235/40/18 on the front on a car at standard height?

  8. I've noticed that stock wheels are pretty hard to move on ebay. Ive watched a few listings and those would definitely be harder to sell than the F-Sports which i know are highly desirable.

A mate of mine who works at a tyre shop had sold those for a customer @ 2.2K with about 50 kms on them. Customer went straight from dealer to shop to get aftermarket rims.

Hope that info is of some use to you.

Also, just to note that once you sell any set of wheels/tyres over 1.2k than its starts to reduce the amount of buyers as 1.2k buys a set of 18" no names with new tyres. Obviously thats not the same quality as Lexus wheels however it seems most ppl dont care and if they're going to spend that sort of money they get something that looks different than stock.

Those wheels listed on ebay have been there for ever, they were originally for sale by lexus of Blackburn for $990 and this dodgy f##ker bought both sets and just raised the price on both of them by $700. hopefulyl he jsut sits on them for ever and they dont sell as he is just in it to rip people off.

As for the F sport wheels im interested in picking up a set myself, when you do come to sell them let me know

    Cheers

  9. Hi all,

I copped a huge paint chip on the weekend, its 4-5mm round and all the way down to the metal and is very noticeable.

Does anyone know any good stone chip / Dent repair guys in sydney? i have had a bit of a google and there looks to be heaps of dent repair/scratch repair places but it looks like they paint the whole panel, i would much prefer the chip just filled in and as much of the standard paint/clearcoat kept intact.

    Cheers

    Vukie.

  10. HI all,

Im in the market for a used IS350 i have been watching the market for a while and it seems that there just arent many used is350 out there, plenty of fsports though but im too tall and dont fit because of the sunroof and finding one without that option is damn near impossible.

Anyway i have been to a few dealerships and the best i have been able to find is a 'new' 2011 build is350 which has been offered to me at 60k which i think is a bit much, i have also been offered a used is350 with 22k on the clock for 52k.

Can anyone tell me what kind of price i should be aiming for? Im looking to spend 50k which i think is doable but there are just no 2nd hand 350's out there at the moment.

I have ready the thread about the guy in NT not being able to sell his fsport at 59k im thinking the base model prestige shoudl be pretty easy to get into at 50k.

    Cheers
