  1. I had the same problems when I got my F. I ended up ordering Stoptech pads (Car Mods Australia) and a new set of rotors (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330698791783?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and that solved all my problems. I installed it all myself, it's easy enough and there is a good video on youtube showing how to do it. If you are not inclined to do it yourself, any workshop can do this, it doesn't have to be Lexus. I know a few others in this post have tried other combination of pads and rotors and Project Mu seem to be a popular choice. End of the day just go with what you think is right but I can certainly vouch for Stoptech pads reducing noise and providing very similar performance to OEM.

I think all up front rotors and new pads all round cost me $800 plus my time to install. New rear rotors would probably add another $300. I would think a workshop shouldn't be charging you more than $300-$400 to install so all up you could be in for $1500. Decent saving off the $2500 quote!!

  2. Congrats! I was in a very similar position. Had a 370z for 3 years before deciding I needed a V8 and 4 doors. Very seriously considered an M3 but couldn't refuse the value proposition of an ISF particularly after a test drive. You won't regret it, they are a fantastic car.

  3. I went for Stoptech Pads, and Ferrodo discs. The discs are actually made by Brembo, got them from Ebay.co.uk. Can't remember where I got the pads from though.

I've found this set up to be much quieter than the stock set up. Ultimate 'bite' from the pads isn't as good as stock set up, but is worth it for the benefit of no noise.

  4. Hey All, I spent a couple of hours on the weekend replacing my front rotors and pads. I got Ferodo rotors from eBay UK (which are actually made by Brembo) and then after much research settled on Stoptech brake pads. I'm happy to say at the moment it appears to have stopped all noise coming from the brakes! The initial bite on the Stoptechs isn't quite as good as OEM, but I'd happily sacrifice that for no noise. The OEM pads were very close to the wear sensor, and the rotors were heavily lipped. The car only has 25k kms so I'm not sure how people are getting 50k+ out of them!! I'll keep you all updated if anything changes, but at this point I would recommend the Stoptech pads if the squealing is driving you nuts!

  5. Hi All, I'm reviving this thread as I'm getting towards the end of my tether with my squealing brakes. I've only had it 3 months and it had 20k on it when I bought it. The squealing is constant, obviously worse at lower speeds which are unfortunately common in Sydney. I'm not sure if I should just take the pads out and clean/regrease and hope for the best, or replace with hawks or carbotechs. I've read heaps of forums many times and there just doesn't seem to be a consistent solution for this. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions people could put forward! Thanks.

  6. In anticipation of replacing rotors I had been doing some research and according to info on the US forums, the Raybestos brand rotor is actually made by Brembo. Last I looked you could get them on Ebay from the states. Not sure if anyone locally has tried these?

  7. If there is anyone out there who has been lucky enough to buy a second ISF, it would be great to share that knowledge with those who are in the market themselves. I'm still looking but one thing I have noticed is that they don't tend to hang around on carsales for very long! Any advice people could offer on prices paid would be fantastic!

  8. Hi All,

I'm also hunting down a slightly second hand ISF (Please let me know if anyone is thinking of selling!) Drove one for the first time last week and loved it. Never thought I would touch a Lexus, but it looks like I might!

I just have a question regarding the LSD. What year model was this introduced? Want to be sure I'm picking up one with LSD as I intend to have it out on trackdays occasionally.

    Thanks!
