RX350 touch screen

Hello everyone, new to the site and hoping someone may be able to help us. 
my dad got the RX350 about 2 months ago and I’m picking one up in 2 weeks time. 
dad has a 2006 and the touch screen is not working.

it worked for a little while but now nothing.

the screen seems to have a wet film over it which it was like when it was picked up. 
I’m wondering if anyone know what the problem might be? And maybe the best way to get it working again?

At a guess the ribbon cable has gone open on one of the wires where it goes into the screen. Saw a "fix" on an US site some time back where you removed and reworked the joints.

Also may have to search Ebay etc for a replacement screen if that doesn't work.
