Hi I am new to all this, and its my first time trying this type of "blog"

I am a recent convert (from x5), live in Australia- and so far like the RX450h - its very different from the diesel of the bmw - how ever I,m hoping for good things.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE FOLLOWING?

1. I read and have heard a lot about the Auto start function and would like to have it "activated" on my car- can some one help me ?

2. I also saw on the forum that a 450H owner got his dealer to turn the warning chimes for seat belt ( ding, ding, ding etc.) to turn off for front and rear passengers -can some one help me ?

3. I have just organised for the kit to "fix the grey out " of the nav and phone - if any one wants / needs advice

4. coming from a BMW which had a tv in it - does any one have any clues on how to get on integrated into my ML dvd screen?

thanx in advance - ( hope this works)

Do a google on how to disable seat belt chime on the Lexus and you'll find plenty of info on this. Give this a try and see if it works on yours.

1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake

2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )

3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off

Hey Lexo,

Thnax for replying.

I have tried this method, (many times) in my RX450H - but no luck - i'm wondering if its just for the earlier, other models not my current RX450.

Could lexus have gotten onto this and blocked it in this later model??

Regards

You're right!. Looks like this instruction no longer works on the updated 2010 RX350/450h and needs to be done by the dealer. Just give your dealer a call and they'll happily do it without charge.

How was your ownership experience with the X5? ie, Likes & Dislikes.

Last and not least, Welcome to Lexus Club :)

G'day,

As per all european dealers, lots of swanky show and glitz, ( u pay for it).

The quality and performance was good, the after sales was also good, as I previously mentioned, the BMW is a "drivers car" you have to work to drive it, you feel every road input and experience - if this is what u like. The lexus is more like a limousine, you just sit back and enjoy the ride, get there refreshed and not tired. Its early days yet, however, I found that the X5 optioned all the way up and with everything in/on it, STILL didn't have all the toys of the rx450h, and is much more expensive anyway.

About the only thing I miss ( so far ) is the turbo kick or push rather, as with all those NM of torque it really did have balls.

But on the other side -there IS TURBO LAG, which should be but is not perfected by BMW, and is a pain in the arse.

As said above its really early now but "so far so good"

In relation to the seat belt fix,

- the dealer is telling me that " the warning is there for your safety and can not be removed" - i don't know whether to believe them.???
