looking at your avatar - I'd guess its what we call the "Sports Cross" - the wagon / estate version of the IS / Altezza?
-

Hey Matt or Matthew
Im trying to change my avatar, when I remove my old one or try uploading the new one it keeps going back to the old one, but it goes to the new pixle size of the one I try to upload.
Im trying to upload a JPG image but it doesnt seem to be uploading, it just comes up saying the settings have been changed.
Cheers
that looks new to me mate?

had my illuminated scuff plates fitted today - have been chatting to Matt about these, so thought I'd share a pic!
I'll try and get some photos tonight when it is dark and they are more lit up B)

Hey, Matt I think you should sh*t up....lol....I hate this g"ey law....
Matt
expect you do mate - but living in a country where this isn't a law, the number of young muppets driving around at all hours, with 6 mates in the back of their Nova (very small, cheap POS car), stereos balring etc makes me think that this would be a great law to have over here!
-
Mathew McN: No-one on a restricted licence can drive after 10pm or carry a passenger who does not have a full licence themselves. Stop kids getting their restricted licence and hooning around with their mates in the car, or being out late at night. Cops siezed 12000 cars in the first year! Too bad if it's your Dad's, or a work car, its gone!
OK - so because Matts only young, he is on a restricted license - and shouldn't be out late with people in the car.
I get it.
I approve actually - I like that law.

welcome to the club buddy ;)

wow Matt - one lucky guy!
Whats an illegal passenger? You smuggling young Phillipino ladies or something?

Have u got pictures of ur chrome stickers on ur car ?
must look nice :D
putting them on this weekend (hopefully)
pictures will follow B)
-
I finally got around to put the pictures up ...
They are up in gallery
looking sharp ;)
considered going for a starkly contrasting colour, such as red or yellow - but I thought that as the stickers are chrome, decided to tie it in to the color scheme of the car. B)

Major problem for me.
I have gone through 10 tyres in 16 months (43k miles) :(
In the UK - we are still to reach a conclusion as to whether its a fault or just some people being unlucky
Switched to Toyo Proxes all round last month (I only really needed two fronts - but didn't want to mix and match).
-
Just another point - as you can see by the dirty fingers on the wheels - there is a light spattering of brake dust on the rims.
Those wheels have not been cleaned now for two weeks, and they have done between 750 and 900 miles in that period.
The EBC rotors and pads I have on the front really cut down on the brake dust.
The guys running standard Lexus rotors / pads will vouch for how dirty their wheels would be in that sort of time frame.
-
lookin sharp matt-great match with the car color too!
its not a bad match - I would have preferred it to be darker - but Hammerite don't colour match to Lexus paint codes
still - looks a lot better than it did before, so I am pretty happy.
Don't have too much prob with tarnishing down here, unless ya happen to live right beside a picturesque beach!!I wouldn't mind so much if that was what caused the problem - unfortunately, in the UK the phrase "picturesque beach" is an oxymoron

Finally got round to painting my calipers today.
don't know about down here - but in the UK, the IS calipers have a real problem with corrision.
heres a pic of mine before I painted them
as you can see, they look really awful, with white, fungal looking spots.
Got the wheels off, and gave them a good scrub with a wire brush to remove any rust or flakiness.
Them rubbed them down with white spirits to thoroughly clean the surface.
Gave it two good coats of Hammerite Smooth - was a beautiful warm day, so it was drying nice and quick - left it for twenty minutes for cold drinks between coats.
Left it to dry for half an hour - and put the wheels back on.
big improvemment I think!
I have some chrome Lexus stickers to go on them - but thats a job for next weekend :(
-

you thought of approaching a NZ garage about fitting a supercharger as a dev project?
Mat C could put you in touch with TTE to source a 'charger - and you and the garage could share cost of the work?
then you tell everyone on here about it, and some of those people want one fitting too?
