  1. I am planning on buying an IS200 (6cyl) in two weeks time and want to connect an iPod to the standard head unit.

Has anyone gone through this process before?

Basically, has the head unit got a line-in (say, AUX) that can be used?

If so, on the iPod end of the lead will be a 3.5m stereo plug - what’s the plug type on the head unit end? Is it dual RCA?

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Michael

    :D :D

    Other notes:

    - I have an iTrip but have found it to be more annoying than its worth.

    - I would like to keep the standard head unit in the car.

I was determined to keep the factory head unit and have an AUX input... After months of investigation it was much more effective to buy a mid-range aftermarket one. Not only did it give me more audio control, it also plays mp3 cds and has the desired aux input for my iPaq...

Have a look at my site (in my sig below) there's a link there to a more active New Zealand Altezza forum...

  2. G'Day, I am begining my search for a Altezza, can you tell me any known issues these cars have. Looking @ 1999 RS200's. Quiet a few boast new tyres - when the car hasn't done a huge amount of KM's, maybe the cambre is out or something from factory? Any tips what to look out for. Cheers!

    Hi Budgie, where you from?

Good spotting, camber can be an issue on Altezza from factory... Just make sure you get a full alignment as part of the package from whoever you buy from. :)

    You going manual or auto?

  3. The only stuff from these forums I've been able to see for the past few months has been what's stored in Google's cache...

Interesting to be able to post again...

1992 Nissan Primera TE (To be sold to acquire an RS200 Z edition...)

Tee hee, and looking at my sig when I was last posting I didn't even have an Altezza yet!

  4. Yeah, he's in Hamilton & is building it for the Targa Rally (and some serious racing). You'll see Boothy posting on these forums. Stunning car, and when the V8 is installed I'll get the rest of the photos up.

I was talking with Graham Cameron (of Car City Court Tauranga) today and he was telling me about a friend of his that was setting an Altezza up for the Targa. I'm guessing it must be the same person then...

  5. For example me and a mate whom I work with get offered cars all the times....like this little beauty:

    1999 Toyota Altezza Turbo

    6 speed manual

    67,000 kms

2 litre DOHC, air conditioning, power steering, 17Inc alloys, stereo, power windows, dual air bags, HKS adjustable suspension.

    [snip]

Sounds like a nice machine... There are certainly advantages to picking up a car that way, as long as you can have someone reliable do an inspection. It's a lot of money to 'risk', hence why most people are prepared to pay the extra $$$ for something that they can physically see etc etc...

I'll have to see if I've got any contacts in Japan to inspect that vechical... :)

  6. I'm also still in the hunt for an RS200, haven't seen any particularly good examples in the past couple of months, but still have my eyes open... If anyone knows of some in the Bay of Plenty region please point me in their direction...

    Cheers,

    Jason.

  7. Are you allowed to import Altezza's into Aussie.  I thought you were not able to.  You better check that first.

My Altezza RS200 arrives 2moro into NZ.  Easy process into NZ.

You reckon it's worth the effort to import one yourself into NZ? I'm looking at acquiring an Altezza, so it could be an option for me to consider. Would I need contacts in Japan to suss it out from that end?

    Cheers,

    Jason.

  8. Thanks Greeneyes, that sounds like good advice. I saw what seemed like a really nice specimen at Bay Nissan in Tauranga (apparently they regularly import Altezzas) and was tempted to jump right in. However common sense got the better of me and I decided to trial the market for 6 months before getting to carried away. And besides, test driving a stack of Altezza's sounds like a great concept to me. :D

I will have to catch up with the folks in Paeroa, taking them for a flick through the gorge to my old hometown of Waihi would be a good way to trial the handling...
