  1. Yes, apparently they needed to lube up the dash to resolve the squeeks and rattles. Yes they removed the entire dash to complete the "dash rattle" bulletin released by Lexus. Yes i bought the car brand new, they offered the refund as i gave them two options. 1) Refund 2) Replacement Vehicle. They obviously took the 1st option, as they still made a buckload of money off me!!! Leeman
  2. You are very correct, The Lexus really is a fabulous car to drive, no doubt about it. I guess its just very disaapointing for me to take the "leap of faith" and go for what i call, a RWD Toyota Aurion, or a "glorified toyota" and then experience the issues i have. Its funny that you quote how disappointing the BMW was in build quality, but are willing to pay 60 odd thousand dollars for your lexus, and fix your dash rattles yourself, or just live with it!. I just hope none of you fine lads, or laddies, ever have to go through what i did!. Cheers Leeman
  3. Its ok mate, i'll post the pictures to you asap!! Make sure they dont over do it with lubricant! :) Next car? not sure been "burnt" by luxury, so going Mazda 6 MPS, or Liberty GT... we'll see! Cheers
  4. Well, I dont mean to sound like a meanie, but today i received a pro-rata refund for my December 06, Lexus IS250 Prestiage with EMV Pack. For those who dont know, i had been receiving a never ending list of problems with my car the list is as follows: First Service (approximatley 1200kms) - Seat "crackling" noise, solution - "retightening" of seat - Sunroof "squeeking", solution - "lubricant" in the seals - 1 day in service Second Service (approximatley 3000kms) - A pillar knock/rattle, solution - check and reinstall of a pillar - Dash scratching sounds, solution - removal of dash and completiong of TSB - squeek/rattle from roof lining, solution - replacement of "warped" roof lining x2!! (two roof linings on the service report!) - 8 days in service! Third Service (approximatley 3005kms - thats right, when i picked up the car!) - Passenger Door lock jambed - 1 day in service Fourth Service (approximatley 3005kms - Again, when i picked up the car after the 3rd service!) - Passenger door trim (the one where the lock was "fixed") hanging loose, from broken clips! - 30 mins wait for them to fix it again Recent Issues (approximatley 3500kms) - Lubricant seeping from gaps in the dash!!!, especially when the weather warms up - Sun visor screw caps physically damaged coming loose when using sun visors - Audio system comepltely out of alignment, LHS, you can see the chassis of the dash! - More squeeks from the roof lining behind the sunroof These issues seem to stem from the first and 2nd services i had! All these issues in under 4000kms, and less then 3 months ownership. Suffice to say i will never buy a Lexus again. Do yourself a favor pay the extra dosh, and get the BMW. For those unfortunate enough to have already purchased one, please make sure you check all the work done on the car for any service or issues you find. Chances are, they would have stuffed up more then what was there at the begining. I have been provided a "refund" for the vehicle, which was a reasonable amount of $60,000, so i have lost about 10k (because of early exit fees on finance) for less then 4 months ownership. Trust me, the car was so disappointing, that a 10k loss was worth it! I have pictures of the issues (but clearly i dont know how to upload them!) if anyone is interested. Leeman Lexus? Never again!
  5. Hey everyone, just an update. My car went back into service for dash rattles and a-pillar rattles. Its been in there for 1 week now, hopefully i will get it back Monday. (after being told it would be a one day fix). None the less i did tell them to fix it properly and i didnt want to be back again. So far the service has been good (customer service that is...), and the loan car has been fun (RX 350), but after reading the TSIB's for the fixes, im scared my car is coming back all hacked up. FYI the TSIB requires the tech to remove the head liner, and then hacksaw some clicps, and use a screw driver to pry certain hinges open!!! I will be giving the car a very good check when i get it back to make sure there arent any defects on it! We'll soon see!! For those who dont know.. if you want the copies of the offical TSIBs goto : www.lexushelp.com Cheers Lee
  6. Hi! Loan car was a prestige base model auto (no enhancement pack or moonroof) it was definitly not squeaking like mine! I tend to replace oil on my own, but i havent done it for this car yet. I usually replace oil every 5000ks. I just dont feel "clean" with oil that is 15K old! I might get lazy and just leave this car to the service agent! well see :) Cheers Lee
  7. Hi! Was that auto or manual? How many years warranty? Any free servicing? Thanks! Leeman
  8. Hey mate, Sorry about the late reply, It was brand new, but on the showroom floor. I'm pretty sure i could have got it lower,... but because i get an allowance to spend i didnt really mind. I think if i pushed it could have easier got 500-800 more off. Cheers lee
  9. G'day Lads, Just a quick update. Sunroof noise from the dealer was fixed with some "lubricant" as adised by the dealer. The other rattles were from my drivers seat, apparently the bolts "get loose" and need refitment and tightening. Thats done and now it doesnt make any rattles. My problem now is, when the sunroof "opens" it makes a louder then usual "thump".!! Looks like it will go back again soon.. but i'll see..... RE: Service, my experience was great.....I sent in a request via the Lexus Sydney website, and received a call within 20-30 mins to confirm the issues, i was booked in for service for the following friday (2 days). Dropped off the car, picked up the loan car (IS250 Prestige) and off i went! Received a call at 4pm advising car was done.... Came in, the car was washed and vaccumed. Another little touch was a nice box of Lindt chocolates with Lexus Ribbon in the centre console. (yum!) Also another thing... i enquired about purchasing extra "toyota oil" for the car. The service rep actually told me not to spend my money, and if i wanted to bring a container in and he would give some free! But he could only give a few litres at a time as "top up" oil! i think thats ok.. free new oil!! Anyone else having problems? Leeman
  10. Hi! I picked up my IS250 December 10. I recently started getting squeaks from the moon roof and the drivers seat. Its going in for service This friday, so i'll let you all know if it gets fixed. I agree that the car performs and drives well, but for 60 odd thousand dollars i would expect there to be no squeaking! Cheers Leeman
  11. Hi There, I had a different experience with my IS250. Just picked up on December 10 2006. My rep from Sydney City Lexus, quoted 57K for Base model inc Sunroof, Auto and All onroad costs. And that was without bargining. I dont know if its cheap, but i thought that was OK. I ended up with a Prestige + Auto + Enhancement Pack with sunroof and ML Audio. for $63800 inc onroad costs. Is that OK? Comes with 7 year warranty and 3 years free servicing. Can anyone tell me if been jipped? :) Leeman
