  1. Hi guys... i have some fine scratches and swirl marks which i plan to get rid of. Have anyone of you guys had any good experiences with professional detailers in sydney/central coast?? Any recommendations is much appreciated...

p/s: When sending your car for servicing, do not opt for the free car wash...it's absolutely rubbish!! More damage done than good.

  2. Well, i guess some of us are just plain unlucky. When i mentioned about inconvenience caused to me, i wasn't saying that i would have been left without a car. I know they provide loan cars but NOTHING beats driving your very own car... it's a peace of mind that should anything happen to it, me and only me is answerable to myself. My service with Lexus was good... only during the process of selling the car to me. After all that sales pitch and a successful sale, it all went downhill!

They got my first name spelt wrongly which later appeared on all correspondences from lexus to me. That i felt was a mistake that shouldn't have happened at all. How can you forget or misspell the name of a customer whom u just sold a car to. And to make matters worse, they also got my bank details wrong and as a result, toyota finance couldn't get payments from my bank and sent me a Notice of Dishonour for not making my repayments on time!!

Then when it came to servicing and the scratch incident, nobody apologised about it. All the guy said was, alright, the scratch COULD be caused by us and i'll get it fixed. Called the same guy and asked if he made any investigations, he simply replied, there's no need for an investigation since i've already agreed to have your car fixed. It all seems like a cover-up or something to that effect.

Prior to my 1st servicing, my wife and i wanted to buy a new RX400h but after all this, i think i'll be taking my money somewhere else.

Clearly... their "Pursuit of Perfection" is going to be a very very long one!

  3. The scratch was pretty damn deep but luckily for THEM, the scratch is located on the side skirt so i guess all they need to do is replace it. I was really really pissed off... There should be some sort of compensation for all the inconvenience and distress caused to me.

But as i've mentioned earlier, it was a huge relief to know that they acknowledged their mistake instead of denying responsibility. The whole thing would have been made alot worse if i had to bloody argue over the scratch incident!

I'll just have to see how it goes and see what sort of initiative they will take to re-instill my confidence in them again.

  4. Was supposed to pick my car up yesterday and bang... another nightmare! Just as i was so excited to get my car back, i found a nasty scratch on my car! Spoke to the service advisor about it and thankfully, he acknowledged that the scratch must have been caused by one of their employees because the scratch still had the rough edges around it(suggesting that the scratch was fresh).

On a more positive note, i managed to change the filthy IS 250 loan car and got an RX 350 instead.

    what a nightmare...

  5. Hey guys... I just had my 1st service done today with lexus of chatswood. I've only clocked 11, 000 km and had the car for less than 6 months and was pretty disappointed with all the problems i've had(esp considering that it's an $80K car!!). Hopefully, they will be able to sort the problems once and for all so i told them to keep the car overnight to sort things out as i don't wanna have to go back again with the same bloody problems.

Loan car was a crappy IS 250....filthy, cooling seat function was faulty, rear view mirror was one of those old school non auto dimming type and it stank of cigarette smoke!

This will probably be my last lexus...

  6. Hi Cevu, i tried to take some photos of my car but the tints are just not coming out right. In the photos, it looks like any typical black tint but when i look at the car in person, it has that metallic look. Very bizarre indeed! i also realised that under sunlight, the windows are black but when it's parked under the shade, the metallic colour kicks in!

Anyway, i attached one photo which i thought was quite interesting with the lighting and it shows a lil bit of colour progression of my sapphire coloured car. You can see a lil tinge of dark blue at the back and black towards the front. And yeah, a lil metallic tint effect on the windows.

  7. i used to have really dark tints on my old car and i found night driving to be quite unpleasant. Had one bad experience once when i drove out of my garage and scratched my side mirrors all because i couldn't see the edge of the garage wall due the extreme dark tint! So when i bought my IS 250, i told my salesman that the main reason why i wanted tints on windows is to keep the temperature cool inside and that i'm not too concerned abt privacy. Well, he arranged this really classy metallic silverish tint and it really looks great on my sapphire paintwork!! Not super dark... but does an execellent job at keeping the interior cool.

Will post pics when i find the time...

  8. My new definition of bad luck:

Getting invited to an IS-F track day at Wakefield only to find I'm away for business that week.

Very dissapointing, even more so, the invite was non-transferrable so unable to hook anyone else here up.

    Sory guys, I did ask.

    Hey Art,

Just out of curiousity, which dealership did you buy your car from?

    Parramatta.

Hmmm... I didn't get my car from Parramatta so maybe this track day thing is dealership specific. Hopefully, Sydney City will be next in line! Hmmm... Damn it, i should just call my salesman tomorrow and ask about it! Hahaha...gotta be a lil thick-skinned!!!

  9. Hi guys...

Since we all have beautiful, luxurious and comfortable cars, i am thinking that a nice long drive interstate will be a great joy! As i am new to australia, i would like the opportunity to see more of this magnificent country. I will be taking a long break towards the end of the year and hope to make this happen during that period. Anyone keen??

  10. Hi pygothian,

Like you, i also have the sports luxury variant and unfortunately, our headlights aren't bi-xenon. The xenons only work on low beam. When you flick the stalk to high beam, it just activates the 2 additional halogen lamps and those lamps aren't equipped with AFS.

As to whether the AFS for the xenon functions with high beam, i am sure it does but it won't make a difference cos the halogens are just way too bright to notice AFS in action!

I wonder if it's possible to replace those halogens with xenons... that would be pretty neat! Anybody knows?

  11. Hey guys...

My car was recently purchased under the corporate program(for private use). According to my salesperson, you need to be someone high in the food chain in any Fortune 500 listed companies. Most MNCs are eligible. So if you fall under that category, you should ask your salesperson about it. 3 years free servicing and some other discounts relating to misc fees and interests rates.

  12. I am sorry to inform you that the smart card from sewell will not work here in australia due to the difference in frequency. I've contacted my lexus dealer in sydney as well as sewell and they have confirmed it.

However in the future, if sewell does manufacture smart cards which uses the same frequencies as australia, i'll be keen to buy one!

  13. As i've owned my car less than 2 weeks, i've been cleaning my wheels once every 3-4 days. Built up brake dusts can be very difficult to remove if left for a long period. I use Meguiars Non-acid Wheel cleaner... spray on rims and leave for 30-60 secs followed by kartcher high pressure wash. The wheel cleaner works very well IMO! Oh yes, wipe dry with microfibre cloth and voila, your rims are reborned!
