  1. The 20% claim is a little bit far fetched. Sure if it was a 450h, you'd definitely get Australian pricing but the 430 wouldn't be worth much less than the Australian model. The only big obvious changes would be the indicator stalk on the left, speedo with mph reading and the navi unit (and other stuff depending on what grade you have) I wouldn't let the navi unit stop you from bringing the car to Aust.

Put it this way, even if you sell it for $60k, you'd be ahead of the game.

Of course if you're doing it as a money making exercise, then there's plenty of M cars (M3, M5 etc) you could bring back which will command a lot of $$.

  2. Sorry for the late reply, but the answer is no. The European disc is complied by Aisin and the Australian ones are Denso/Sensis. I tried popping in Denso disc into the UK audio and it doesn't recognise it. Not the answer you want to hear but that's what it is. The upside of using the UK audio is that the radio station names as well as the frequency will appear whereas the Australian audio unit only shows the frequency.

  3. Asbestos has been banned since 2003-2004 by legislation... it is a known carcinogen

The brakes have a lot of carbon content because these pads are the same pads used in Europe where brakes need to perform at a certain level in sub zero conditions. Yes they are high performance pads but these pads have the same properties you'll find on any European spec'ed vehicles.

Yes it's annoying but put it this way, which would you rather? Better braking performance or clean wheels?

  4. I have those tyres on mine and they are great. I know some of the Sports IS250's come with Yokohama tyres you might want to have a look at those as well, unfortunately with the staggered fitting wheels you are always limited in choice. I had the same problem when I changed the wheels on my car.

Sports and Sports Lux comes only in Dunlop Sport Maxx. If it's anything else then the dealer has done something to the tyres.

Kerb protectors are just bits of the tyre that help minimise damage to the alloy wheels if you hit a kerb. Basically the tyres are your bumpers for your wheels but it doesn't protect it that well. Best way to not damage your wheels is by not running into them in the first place. :) Try using the auto dipping mirrors to help you guide your car away from the kerb.

  5. S Lux has on top of the X:

    - HID + AFS

    - Semi aniline leather seats with Heat + Cool

    - Wood trim

    - Auto wipers

    - Pre-Collision system (PC seat belt, PCB)

    - Radar cruise control

    - Illuminated scuff plates

    - Rear electric sunshade

    - No manual option

    - Sunroof delete option

    EDIT: - Electrochromatic mirrors.

Wheels go from 18" to 17" (Bridgetones --> Dunlop)

    Less sports pedal

  6. Lexus will launch a sports-inspired special edition of IS 250, dubbed IS 250 X. Based on IS 250 (Australia's Best Prestige vehicle), IS 250 X will be available in two signature colors - Arctic Blue and Vermilion, as well as Onyx Black, all matched to a black leather interior.

Only 450 examples of IS 250 X will be offered and will feature sports suspension, 14-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system, sunroof, satellite navigation, rear view camera with rear guide assist, Bluetoothâ„¢ handsfree telephone system, smooth leather seats, sports pedals, metallic scuff plates, unique five-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels and "X" badging.

The special model will be available in automatic and manual versions and will retail at an RRP of $64,790* and 67,390* respectively - saving owners in the order of $10,000 over the IS 250 Sports model.

"IS 250 X represents excellent value for money for prestige vehicle buyers, offering additional features for a fraction of the cost," said Lexus Australia chief executive, John Roca.

"This is a once in a blue moon opportunity to secure a limited edition of Australia's best prestige car - Lexus' IS 250"

"Last year Lexus introduced a limited edition IS 250 model which sold out in six weeks - twice as fast as anticipated - and IS 250 X is expected to be just as popular"
