1 go for 95K and another for very low 90's. both had less 20000kms on them! if you're happy go live with a preowned car
There's a 2008 with 8,000km on carsales ATM for $110,000.
Gotta remember to add RTA transfer fee & stamp duty on that would be $4,627.
For me, while I wouldn't pay $136k, I'd prefer to pay a bit extra(you may be suprised how little if you ask the right person) and get a
new 2010 with the Torsion LSD(I've tried both & it makes a difference), Update SatNav interface, USB input and most of all full 4 year warranty. Worth every cent.
The quote is for the 2010 with tosion LSD. The 3 yrs service and price is apparently part of their promotion until march 31st. The sales exec told me they recently had a tariff drop on 2009 and 2010 models
and they are absorbing CTP, and dealer delivery this month. They have a demo graphite 2008 one with 20000km on it, and it would cost me more as he claims it is not subject to their promotion? I never know what to
believe when it comes to car salesmen.

I paid $69990 with 32km on the clock as a second hand car - apparently it was bought by lexus australia and transported to motorshows (so they told me) in about aug 2008.
They quoted me 139k for the IS-F driveaway 2010 model with 3 yrs free service

Hi,
I've finally decided to upgrade to the IS-F, thinking of the flame blue with cream interior. They have one on display in perth currently.
While getting my 1st service done on my IS250 (17012km) I had it valued, and they have offered $52000 for a tradein price to deposit on the
IS-F.
Does that sound like a appropriate/good deal?
I noticed in the car yard there was an exact 2008 IS250 SL with 35000km and they were trying to sell it for 62k (only difference is mine is silver
and that one was white)
Thanks for any advice

Lex666,
No I never paid a cent. I offered to pay as I thought they did a great job, and was not even complaining. They were sorry they car was returned without its final quality assurance check, and said if it was it would of failed and been returned to be redone. He said they want they cars showroom quality.
The chocolates and champagne was yummy too.

I had my lexus detailed at Lexus of Perth. They collected it Thursday morning with a new IS250 SL dropped off for me to drive. Had my car from 8am till 5pm when they dropped it off. The did an amazing job on the outside, got rid of swirl marks I noticed on the bonnet prior, removed a few tiny scratches, and even got a minor dent out the passenger door from someone hitting it with their door. The interior the said the removed all the seats, to vaccum and shampoo and carpet surface, relube any electic rails etc for the chairs, polish the leather, they fixed what I though was a scratch on the woodgrain console, and reseated the centre speaker in the dash that they said wasnt flush with the rest of the dash. Everything was immaculate. When it was dropped off the guy said to leave the doors open for a few hours to let the fumes settle and make sure the carpet was dry completely. I didn't think much of it, but when in speaking with the dealer who I bought it from regarding something entirely different....he was irrate, and demanded they came collected my car, and detail it again as it was not seen by their quality assurance and it needed to be at the level they would put on their showroom - and that it should never of been returned with the carpet still damp. She the guy came and dropped off this time a GS series took my beatifully clean car, and they detailed it again, kept it overnight, and returned it with champagane, two waterford crystal glasses, a box of lindts chocolates, and would refuse to let me pay the quoted $450. I'm planning on taking it back there again soon after a long trip to Pemberton, just waiting for a period when its not going to rain every second day.

Here are some pics of upcoming billboards a friend in advertising sent me of the IS250C

Danslex,
Any visible defect on my paintwork (even if you can only see it in the right light), I deem a defect. If it is imbedded in the paintwork - eg a swirl/light scratch or etch, I want it gone! Nearly every polish on the market is abrasive in some way - and therefore cuts into the clearcoat. There is no other way to remove a swirl (light scratch usually caused by the normal process of washing the car) other than removing the surrounding paint to the same level as the deepest point of the scratch (or to the point where it is no longer visible).
I conceed that I may be pedantic at times - my illness I'm afraid. :D
I'm with you Last1
Any defect will need correction, and the defect is in the eye of the beholder.
I had a nasty mark on my drivers door after a car park incident. I had a guy do a touch up job which looked fine when he completed it. Once I got home and the late afternnon sun shone on it I had a huge mass of swirls all over the driver and rear passenger door where he had blended the paint out with a rotary buffer.
I decided to try and correct this myself, and was amazed at the results I got with the right tools and products. Here's a couple of pictures.
BEFORE
AFTER
Wow...impressive. What did you use to do that?

I am just wondering whether any of you have the 2 DVD screen installed at the back of the car? Because I recently saw a picture which has it (see attached file at the bottom or below the link) and I am assuming it is done aftermarket since I never heard that there is this option when I purchased the new car?
http://i44.tinypic.com/10z330k.jpg
Anyone has any idea to it and the price for it etc?
Also, recently, I've been trying to figure out a way to convert from rmvb, avi formats into the DVD (that I can burn which they cann VOB) so that I can play in the car.
What program that is recommended and what are the procedures? I've heard a bit about it but it sounds complicated.
For example.....an average movie for RMVB format is 500MB and can approx. fit 9 films in 1 DVD since it has 4.7GB size capacity. So how do you actually make into those DVD vob format??? Something like Winavi or DVD maker program but not sure how to assemble it before burning into an official DVD that can play in the car
I hope you know what I am saying here. That would make it useful for those who have DVD nav package because if you have AVI or RMVB files and convert to DVD, you can fit several movies\series ep in 1 DVD rather than 1 movie per DVD like in the original. The only difference is that picture and\or sound quality is not as super good but that doesn't really bother me because I am just after for pure entertainment when I get bored in the car or relax on the beachside etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
When i enquired to have my DVD player modded to work when driving, the guy tried the upsell for the two rear headrest LCD's with 2 independed DVD players so each back passenger could watch independent shows. He quoted about $2000. Recommended it only if you had black leather though.
With regards to writing DVDs, I use a program made by Cucusoft called converter pro 7.07 (converts all video formats to dvd/vob/svcd etc) Comes in handy when I want to put a few divx movies on one disc and save them as .vob and write to the VIDEO_TS dir to play on drives that dont play divx.
I sure these disks would work on the lexus dvd player.

I've got the SL, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't open my garage door. Would be good if it did...save me from having to sit it in the arm rest and fiddling around for it every night after work.
-
Think that is only on the US models.
-
Yeah...let us know the outcome. The 2 places I've tried in Perth said no. And thhe one person Lexus gave me their card to and said he does the mods, refused over the phone telling me it was highly illegal and he would never do that. Think he thought I might of been police :)

Thanks guys :)
Yeah fingers crossed the IS-F does everything the amg does but better. It has more luxury standard, and the performance specs are very
similar. If it feels are solidly built, and handles/corners and gets my heart racing like the C63 I will be very happy. Watching some
youtube videos of the IS-F it sounds amazing.
-
Did you just call once? Just call them again. A stuff up can happen once in a while.
That would be an interesting collection, C63 and an IS-F. I would be curious to know which one you'd prefer driving...
The C63 is mine, and got the IS250 SL for wife last year - however she passed away. After driving the IS250 and having the luxury
it is very nice, and I am hoping the IS-F gives the same or better performance handling than the C63, in which case I'll get rid of both
cars and get the IS-F. If not I will keep the C63 and just sell the IS250. I really like the lexus now - so I am really hoping the IS-F
can match the merc. Otherwise it will be a hard decision to make.
-
Lexus of Perth is slipping a bit since I bought my car. I've been in once, got a card from Paul, and called and emailed John - the one I made the original purchase on regarding buying the IS-F. Never got a call back, time for a test drive or email reply. I guess at the moment they just don't want to sell
any IS-F's. Been waiting over a month now for a reply.

Using the ACC i've had it get confused my people walking their dog on the foot path going around a sweeping right hand bend, and also a group of trees on the medium strip when in the right lane heading towards my house. It did the BEEP BEEP thing and applies the brake transiently. Other that that it works well - and it is also good if you are not watching the road and cars turn right or the lights change and someone decides to stop - it quickly slows you and you can then take over once you drop below 40.

Hmmm, not exactly yellowish/golden. That does sound like closer to pearl white, but not sure. They do tend to differ between individual cars by a bit apparently. Crystal Mist I saw had a distinctive light blue reflection off the white, at some angles the car looked light metallic blue, while the rest of it was white. If that makes sense :\ If I was buying an IS right now, that's the only colour I'd pick now, it really stands out, much more than pearl. It's not available on other lexus models though. Another way to distinguish pearl from crystal is that pearl white paint looks bright white in the shade, whereas the crystal one is a bit darker shade of white... go past a dealer on a sunny day and check it out. I'd post a photo, but you won't see it as the camera just doesn't capture the effect (I tried haha)
Is crystal mist that icey blue metallica colour that was only on the X version? I loved that colour, but after finding my SL with 72km on it cheaper than the X version brand new I went with the IS250 SL silver. Couldn't believe just because it had 72km on it, and was registered I didn't have to pay LCT or DD. Saved a bundle and got a better car...just not the colour I wanted.
-
Yeah black is the way. Wish my lexus was black. I is silver - 1st silver car I've owned - extremely easy to maintain a clean look but just doesn't
get that awesome sports look the black does.
My C63 amg is black - and it is a pain to keep clean - 1 day after detailing, if it even gets rain on it calcium deposits show making it look filthy again. It is also considerably hotter inside compared to the silver. But it does lack the seat cooling the lexus has.
-
Yeah...would be nice if my street was on it, half the roundabouts in Perth that a now lights or vice versa, and getting told to keep turning when driving along the "Proposed Mitchell Freeway". Driving to Kalbarri at times I was about 4cm from the road bushbashing being told to continue on the current path - despite the road not even being there (it wasnt a new road either)...then im pretty sure it was trying to make me drive along a river bed.
Definately needs some bugs fixed.

On the original packaging I have from V14 it claims if you update and return the disk you get a discount. Or is the $395 the discounted price? :)
-
How do you copy them?? When I was selling my IS300, I wanted to chuck the newer copy of the DVD from the IS250 in there, and I burnt it on a DL DVD. But the vehicle's satnav computer somehow recognised it as a not valid disc, even though I did an image burn...
I got a copy from the net in .rar form, can't remember where. Unpacked the image, then used Nero7 to burn to a DVD-R DL.
Plugged it into the map reader DVD player, and Hey Presto, updated maps. :P :P
V15?
I only managed to find V14 and burnt it, worked fine, and then discovered I already had that one once I worked out how to eject the disk.

I was planning on doing it myself, but have'nt had the time. I did get a name and number from my lexus dealer who he said does the job. When I
called he was very hesident (think he thought I was the police) and stressed how illegal it was, and that if I got caught the car would be impounded etc. He then tried to upsell dual dvd players and LCD's for the back of the front seats. Which is not what I wanted. I just want to be able to alter a POI or
change an address when I keep getting damn green lights! Its always the way when you want to stop - you never get a red light.
I'm in Perth - So no luck finding anyone here to do it so far.
-
Probably the quickest and easiest way is to lower your hand down from the steering wheel and adjust the little switch to lights on! :D
Anyway, I have read the manual on this and it needs to be done by the service dealer. I don't think it's a big job. I was actually thinking of making mine less sensitive. I don't see the point of the lights coming on for a second when you driver under a bridge, it get's rather annoying. I'm getting my first service in 2 weeks and may get them to adjust it.
Not sure what setting mine are on, but I do notice under some bridges it changes in intensity. I think in lowish light the parkers must come on, and as it gets darker in the tunnel, I then see the whiter xenons do their rollup initiation thing and come on. So I think the headlights dont just automatically come on, a lower light parker engages first before the full headlights. Anyone else notice this?

I'd be going back to the dealer demanding a 2nd key.
Definately make the dealer give you a second key. I learnt the hard way when I had a damaged merc key, and then the
second key got "lost".
They ordered and reprogrammed a new set of keys, charged me $1100 for them, and remotely disabled the "rails" on the old keys.
A week later I found the lost key, and discovered the damaged key was also disabled despite it still working (just the boot pop button didnt work) and they claimed that keys could no longer be reactivated so I would have 4 keys.
I'm sure lexus keys are probably just as expensive - however I must admit the new merc keys look very fancy. Not $1100 worth
though however - If they told me the price I wouldnt of ordered 2.

Today driving back from a holiday in IS250 SL with auto wipers on, and cruise control at 110km/hr when it started raining heavily
the car would beep, and say Cruise control unable to be active - or something to that effect.
It occured 2 times, and on the second time I think it coincided with the wipers going really fast.
Is that some safety thing the car turns off cruise control as it deams if the windscreen wipers are going flat out you
should not be going that speed?
I've never seen it happen before, and was curious if it is supposed to occur, or there is a possible issue.
It was solved by just re-enabling cruise control and it worked again for hrs until the rain got quite heavy again.
