  1. Nice, I like the changes in the wraps.

The clip unfortunately does not do any justice to the sound of the car but thanks for sharing.

Wish I wrapped my car from new, found another stone chip in the bonnet the other day

  2. hello fellow lexus owners. The VIP club at lexus is very hard to get into. It's for customers who spend "alot" of $$$$$$, top execs from Aust top 50 companies, Lexus/Toyota big wigs here and overseas and for celebs. I know people who are very high up at Toyota, they got tickets to enter the Lexus marquee on melbourne cup day, this came about because alot of VIPs couldn't attend. I don't think that dealers even get a look in. thats my 2 cents.....

Thanks for that insight into the ways of the Lexus VIP invite list, so I guess not many everyday customers got an invite then.

In their mind I guess there is method to their madness but for me it is not so good.

At least the post got a few comments in the ISF part of the forum LOL

  3. Perhaps something all of us should think about when signing for the next new car?

Hard to predict which events Lexus will be sponsors of/partnered with in the future but horse racing (and possibly F1 for a couple of years??) seem like good bets. Only signing on the dotted with the inclusion of a day in the Lexus marquee at the next spring carnival might be just as appealing to some as a day at the F1 and possibly more realistic ;)

    That's not a bad idea.

I actually kind of did this, while signing for the car with the sales closer guy (title I forgot) and knowing that there were rumors of Lexus and F1, I said I would like a seat in their corporate box if they have one.

A lot of good that did me LOL

All this discussion and not one person who got a ticket, so am guess Lexus kept the excitement to themselves.

  4. sorry to say bud but i think your expecting abit too much

they are already doing a fantastic job with after sale support

Glad I'm not the only one thinking the same thing.

"Get over yourself" ran thru my mind. You bought a car not a subscription or membership.

The Ducati stand at the MotoGP at Phillip Island is full of Ducati owners, yes.....no free tickets though. Just the ability to buy a ticket to the stand is all ownership gets you.

The below is taken directly from th Lexus Australia Website!

"The benefits of owning a Lexus extend beyond the pleasure of driving one. Upon purchase of a new Lexus, you will become a member of the Lexus Encore Privileges programme which offers a range of exclusive benefits for you to enjoy for the duration of your four year/100,000km warranty period (whichever occurs first)"

I think that clarifies I / we did buy a membership!

Interesting, you don't know me yet you feel compelled to make a personal comment on me!

However, reading some of your other posts there is a common theme there.

  6. Care to tell us the BS.?

    Richie

Just the usual no answer i.e. I didn't even get a pass, no mention of if they actual had a corporate stand, really just deflect the question.

I guess this is what happens when companies like to make out they offer after sales services i.e. Encore Privileges but it is really only marketing BS.

If an ISF pruchase does not get a look in for a F1 ticket, who does?

In regards to being a VIP.

I am not really asking to be a VIP, what I am suggesting is if any of Lexus's customers are going to enjoy motor racing surely someone who purchased an ISF is going too.

In my case when filling out the Encore sheet, I specifically put down motor racing as an interest (nothing else).

  7. Just wondering if anyone get an invite by Lexus Australia or their dealer?

Seeing as those who have purchased an ISF have purchased Lexus's only performance car below $700K and within the normal persons affordability and Lexus is a big sponsor of the F! we might have got an invite, NOT!

Myself, I didn't get an invite!

I even emailed Lexus to ask if they were inviting people and they couldn't even get back to me and got my Dealer to call me with a whole load of BS.

Just wondering if anyone, maybe a long term customer of Lexus got an invite?

  8. Blacky rattles can be a tricky thing to eliminate for a techn.

They may have to try several possible fixes on different potential rattle culprits. So give them another go but ring and ask for the service manager and explain it to him, not the sales exec. Don't go off at him as he may not even know of your problem yet. By contacting the service manager and involving him I think you will get a better result, especially as it is their second attempt.

If you still don't have any luck let me know and I will PM you some details to help you out.

    Cheers

    dis-lex-sic

All cool here and thanks for your comments and suggestions, will take this onboard when I call to book in again.

The real issue for me is the problem was still there when I immediately left the dealer but the service person made out that everything was good and they went above the normal in their service, plus to add insult to injury I think they may have made another rattle / squeak.

Anyhow, I will see how I go this week and see if anything settles down.

  9. This is the point the sales person talks about how quite these cars are (except the exhaust and intake of course  ) and yes they can be quiet but if you have a rattle, it is a rattle and it is annoying.

In my case especially so as it is right by my right hand ear not on the other side of the car or in the boot, TBH I think there was a couple of other rattles but because they are not so close or consistent I have not been thinking about the.

The other point is I took the car into the dear with specific instructions about the rattle and where it was and how it was generated, leaving the car there for the day with no pressure for pick up for the day, even telling them I will pick up on the next day if necessary. The sales guys said he will call me at 4 pm to tell me what is going on, and surprise, surprise he calls at 4 pm and tells me the car is ready.

When I got there he went through all the points the tech went through and what tyhe fixed, saying that all that was done has been acknowledge as potential problems and they have fixes. He "honestly" told me that the seatbelt adjusted was a recognised potential issue. I asked him did the tech hear the rattle and fix it, he reiterated that the seat belt adjuster was a problem. I told him that I had tried touching this when rattling and it made no difference but I said I presume the tech knows what he / she is on about.

I drive out of the dealer and within 25 metres of the door I thought I heard the rattle, so I made happy thoughts for myself for a little while hoping it was just paranoia but it wasn't two corners and driving through the Melbourne CB (Where the dealer is) the rattle was still there. So within 10 min of leaving the dealer I was back on the phone, telling them they had not done their job.

Yes a rattle is annoying but the most annoying point is I dropped the car in to be fixed and it is like I got a free car wash for my trouble!

  10. Hi All

Had a rattle in the drivers door or seat belt pillar since the car was nearly new, it is an annoying little tick, tick somewhere by my ear and it is driving me crazy.

Took the car to the dealer sometime ago but Murphy's law it would not make the noise when the tech was in the car.

Anyhow, dropped the car in yesterday and said you have it for the day and fix the problem.

Picked the car up and they said they replace the seat belt adjust as this has been a problem before and done some insulation work on the dash.

WELL, nothing they didn't fix it and to make things worse I now have a rattle from the dash that wasn't there before!

It really makes me wonder if I just got a free car wash and vacuum and nothing else!

So more of my time wasting going back to have the problem looked and and hopeflly ficked.

    Anyone else have small rattles?

  11. BigAV

    Thanks for your comments.

I do have a question for anyone that has seen the exterior windows of the car above.

I did ask for tint to be applied (The darkest legal tint) before delivery, and the windows look lighter than what I would have expected.

They told me that it would be the darkest tint thats legal.

What do people think. Is there anyway I can tell if tint has been applied. I dont want to get ripped off as I paid for this tint to be applied but dont want to go back and accuse them of not applying the tint. I tried rolling the windows down and I couldnt feel any tint film at the top of the window unless they did a great job and applied the tint right to the end of the edges of the window.. I just couldnt tell.

Would be grateful for any of your comments regarding the tint?

I would say if there is a darkness to the windows, not the blue shade but an actual black / grey then you would have tinting.

The best spot for looking for an edge would be at the back window as this is generally cut to the end not tucked into the seal and you might find a spot where you can see the non tinted window.

To be honest you should be able to tell.

Just another idea, just go to a dealer and park you car next to one in the lot and look at the difference in window shades.

  12. Drive it!

    Joking

You should at least do a good walk around to make sure the car is to the condition you expect it to be (NEW!). Obviously it should be like new but you never know.

Get the sales person to sync your phone and contact etc, why do it yourself when some else can do it for you.

  13. Blacky lets see if I can help

1: The car can hold 1000 contacts total. Contacts are specific to a phone. Delete the pairing of your old phone from the car and try transfering your new phone's contact again.

2: To watch the DVD make sure the park brake is depressed.

Let me know how you go.

If this doesn't work I'll PM you my mobile & maybe I can talk you through it.

OK, I thinking I sorted out my phone contact.

Had 1400 contact, so 1400 does not go into 1000. So I rationalised my contact and deleted those that had been duplicated and from many years back and of no further need (I think!).

Deleted old entries and started again and looks like I have my contacts.

I did try the DVD and park brake the other day but nothing. However I will try again just to make sure I did actually do as I say.

    thanks for the feedback.

  14. Hi All

    Looking for a little help.

Just got a new iPhone and I am having troubles getting my contacts to transfer to the car.

Continues to tell me the all contact could not be transfered and I see in the listing the quite a few of the letter are not available.

Has anyone successfully tranfer contacts from their iPhone?

Another thing, I don't seem to be able to get DVDs to show up on the screen. They play the audio but no display????

    Cheers

  15. HI All,

Ive only just joined up last night and am glad to see so much interest in the IS F.

I have a 2010 white IS F that has been completely wrapped in matte black vinyl. I also have the US spec wheels on the car that don't have the chrome highlights on them, just all dark grey. With the dark window tint the car looks pretty mean!

As far as exhausts go, I have looked around and decided on a pretty unique option. I didn't want the loud drone that V8's can make at low revs (actually, my girlfriend refused to get in the car if I put a loud exhaust on it!), so with the help of Sid (service manager from Lexus Chatswood) we bought a solenoid operated valve, cut a hole in the pipe just after the middle resonator, and welded the valve on to the pipe. We then wired the switch in to the centre console. So now I have a fully standard exhaust when the valve is closed (and the missus is in the car!), but when the switch is flicked I have a straight 4 inch dump pipe after the resonator! The best of both worlds! Not sure if it has massively improved the bhp, but it certainly sounds a lot better, especially on the track! I also had an Injen intake pipe on but just removed it after a few months as the initial off the line performance was diminished due to the increase in airflow - it gave the car an almighty kick at around 4000rpm though!

Feel free to get in touch if you'd like more info, and I look forward to keeping up to date with the forums.

    Hey Luke

Your car sounds interesting and the mod to the exhaust is a bit of great lateral thinking.

Looking at your profile, is the avents oniell your business?

Interested in the Sandown drives, noting the 24th Feb is sold out.

    How do these sessions work?

  16. Hi Mike

I am also in Sydney and keen on a JoeZ exhaust but not managed to find where to get one yet. please let me know if you do find a fitment centre in Sydney.

    Cheers

    Malibu

    Hey Malibu

If you are thinking about a cat back you could always look at Hi Tech to do a custom job. They are not always the cheapest but do a good job.

Would be interested to hear what you get.

  17. Hi Blacky

Got my ISF last September from Chatswood, also did a trip in Dec to Gold Coast and back - averaged 8.9 l//100km one way and 9.3 l/100km return (odo on ± 6000km) but was going faster on the return trip as was after double demerits.

We should organise a run or a day at Eastern Creek some time

    Hey malibu

That is better than what I got.

I am in Melb not Sydney, sorry.

  18. After my BMW looked like it had been sandblasted after 5 years of country trips, I decided the ISF needed some protection.

Thought out the 3M clear film but ended up deciding on the old faithful fitted carbra.

As they had never done an ISF before had to have it custom measure, this took around 45 min and I guess they will have it ready in a week or so.

They said they had done a few Lexus lately but never an ISF, so the guy was quite interested in the car.

I had one previously for my Monaro, yes it is a little pain in the ass fitting all the time and can scratch a little especially if you put on a dirty car, but when I had to let the Monaro go the front end was exceptional.

For me I am only looking for something that will protect when going for longer + 1hr country drives.

Decided to go with a white to match the car this time and at <$500.00 dollars I think it might be a good investment.

Will post some pictures once fitted.
