  1. I thought HDD navigation only appeared in the IS in 2013 (yes, towards the end of the life of the second facelift)?

Oh whoops, you were right. I just realised that the black panel where the clock is, is the place to change the map disc. Is it hard to remove?

You should have the included tools in the boot of your car.

    It's easy to remove.

Yes the tool is in the tool kit, or a good quality tool pick, don't force it - it just clicks out if you get it right. If you haven't the instructions as in the second manual book (the one for sat nav) then just Google the instructions.

  2. First service is free.

Take the car to the dealership you purchased it from..............why would you go elsewhere?

If Sutherland is your local then definately go there.

I don't see why you would consider to drive all the way to Chatswood when you live near Sutherland?

Yes I agree, a Lexus Service is a Lexus Service and even though prices may vary slightly and I mean slightly, why change from your point of purchase. If the price is very different then approach Sutherland and ask why, Lexus is renowned for they high level of customer service (I mean customer service not car service, anyone can change the oil filter and oil)

  3. As my 1st service is due in a few months i just thought i'd ask if anyone has had their car serviced here?Looking for feedback, positive or negative.I've heard positive feedback from Syd.City Lexus and Chatswood but as i live and work in Sydney south my 1st preference would be Sutherland.I've spoken to the service dept.and asked what engine oil they use,was told Castrol professional 10W40.This seems a bit thick to me,thoughts and opinions please.

    Thanks Tony

Hi Tony, Just ask for a 100% Synthetic oil like Mobil 1, 5W-30 if you want the best, if you are paying for the service then you my need to contribute to the upgrade. The service manual states Oil Grade 5W-30 (Preferred) and 10W-30, unfortunately it takes 6.3L and I have to purchased 2 x Mobil 1 in 5 litre, Lexus returned the balance to me to be used in the next service.

  4. I just back from tyre shop. Re-fitted front with Kumho KU22 235/40/18 and it's perfect! The tyre protruded a little hence enough rims protection. It does look much better too.

No rub at all - and didn't notice any difference on the weight of the steering (it probably a tiny difference almost unnoticeable).

Hey, that is great, thanks for that it will make me definitely choose the 235 over the 225

  5. I can understand why u didnt loke the look :( so am I. My lip is totally exposed, and i worry even a llittle pothole will ruin the rim

I wonder why 225 is the oem reccomended tyre size not 235.

I think it is to do with the smooth steering, the steering may be slightly harder with the 235. A friend had fitted 8.5" non standard rims on the front and had rubbing issues together with heavy steering, the tyre people say to keep the tyre 225/40/R18 x 8" on the front but able to fit 9.5" rims on the back with suitable tyres to fit the rim.

  6. For my last service, Lexus loaned me a new IS250, tyres on the front and back were 225/40/R18 Yokahamas I think but the rim protector was a ridge that protruded at least 8mm from the rim, so if you lightly brushed a kerb that would protect the rim, my friend has a new Senator with Continental tyres on and they have arum protector on as well. Lexus of Perth have recommended that the Pirelli P1 have the best rim protector but the rears only come in 245/40/R18 not 255/40/R18.

  7. No, 2010 is HDD based not disc based but it would be the same as the 2010 RX navigation.

I thought HDD navigation only appeared in the IS in 2013 (yes, towards the end of the life of the second facelift)?

In any case ... WhereIS suggests that their Lexus navigation updates apply to all Lexus vehicles. Even if we assume their Website is a little out of date and doesn't apply to HDD navigation, we can safely say that a Lexus DVD-based navigation disc will fit all Lexus models with DVD-based navigation.

I have an 2010 IS250 came new in 2010 with WhereIS V17 DVD Disk, I have since bought WhereIS V18 and inserted myself, now will skip V19 and wait for the release of V20. I had given the old WhereIS V17 DVD Disk to family with a Toyota Landcruiser Sahara and it works fine in there.

  8. Hi Ricky,

I check few forums and 235/40/18 will not rub so its safe to go, and as for rim protection and better look i think it's the way to go?

Altough 225 is ok, but i really dislike the look... Looks like a smaller size in front :(

I'm going back to to tyre shop tomorrow for a test fit with 235/40. Hopefully the want to trade with my 225 since its only 1 day old..

I'll take a pic once its done

The 225/40/18 x 8" is correct fitment, so the KU22 has a rim protector but doesn't show on you rim, even my KU31 without rim protectors protude slightly more from the rim, just make sure you haven't an 8.5" rim on the front. What is the point of having the rims protectors then? I haves attached a photo of my wheel with the KU31 (it is the back but the front is the same).post-4790-0-74696700-1390995518_thumb.jp

  9. Hi guys,

Just back from tyre shop to put on new x pacakge 18inch wheels in my is250.

The wheels looking great but for some reason something looks odd for the front one. The tryre size seems not wide enough for the wheels so the lip is sticking out (hence not much wheel protection too). Is it possible that the tyre is not mounted properly? It looks a little ugly to be honest :(

I confirm many times from many online sources and dealer that the front tyre size is 225/40/18 for 18/8 wheel size. Which is the tyre that I bought, but I'm wondering it can look like that if it's OEM recomended size?

    Tyre is Kumho KU22.

See pic for better explanation of the situation.

Any toughts? any x package owners experience this too?

I am starting to worry now because I am getting Kuhmo KU22 225/40/18 x 8" FRONT and the reason is because they have a rim protection (the existing Kuhmo KU31 225/40/18 x 8" have no rim protection) so do you think I should now choose Kuhmo KU22 235/40/18 x 8". The Pirelli P1 is the best for rim protection but the cost is much more.

  10. Hi all.

Please post your service cost for the following scheduled services.

    30K service.

    45K service.

    60K service.

Also please state the service center where the service was performed and if you would recommend them.

From prior experience i've found service pricing from dealer to dealer to vary quite a bit.

    Hi Tony,

In Perth we have only one Lexus dealership for the whole of WA, and they supply an excellent service, hence there is no comparison available with another Lexus dealership in WA. The other option is to service at a Toyota dealership which there are many, I am guessing this could be half the cost. Did you manage to get your prices, my next service is at 35,000kms and I am seriously thinking of getting it done at Toyota if the cost service is 50%. Therefore Lexus $600 versus Toyota $300. I have had the first 3 services for FREE at Lexus (one per year) - this was part of the new car deal package, now I have to pay for forthcoming services.

  11. Didn't take me long!! Never had a car with low profile tyres and today scraped the edge on a kerb :(

Will clean it up as best I can and get *BLEEP*ty every time I see it! The edge of half the rim is now silver!!

I know how you feel, I have brushed my rims by trying to be too carefull (17" not 18") Its good to have Perth member, I was beginning to think I was the only member in Perth to the club.
