  1. Not many 335i buyers "tune" them.

There's more to think about than that.

Higher running costs on the BMW. Insurance & service.

The level of service is no where near as good.

No free loan cars at BMW even though they charge more for servicing.

BMW only 3 year warranty v Lexus 4 year

Incorrect. I used to own E93 325i always had replacement car free of charge when servicing.

  2. I ended up getting this fixed through warranty. The dealership got the brake pads and shims replaced however my rotors remain the same and no machining was needed. If there was machining required or rotors needed replacing I was looking at +$500 at my own expense.

I suggest you use this post as proof and I'm happy to scan a copy of the repair sheet if required.

My is350 does this too, and it's done less than 20,000k's. Good to know that the squealing is "normal".

Was going to change the pads, but I've somewhat become used to squealing brakes. Previous car had project mu pads and they squealed alot more.

The pad number you had now is: 0446530410

if you contact Lexus USA which I did last year, they gave me 0446530450

and here is the response from lexus USA: lexus changed the part. The number im giving you is the updated version. The older part number is the one with the squealing problem.

  3. I also have a 2011 IS350 F Sport with 22,500kms bought new in September 2011 and is in absolute as new condition.

Recently bought a new Mazda BT50 dual cab and was offered $46,000 trade in for the IS. That was the best price they could get from a wholesaler after 2 weeks of ringing around. The actual dealer I dealt with wasn't interested in trading it/trying to sell it.

Refused the offer and bought the Mazda with no trade.

Have advertised the IS on carsales for 2 weeks and not a cracker at $56,500 so today put it up for the 3 Day Dealer Offer option to see if any dealers offer me anything for it.

Had one offer this afternoon for $15,000 but suspect that was a piss-take.

After the 3 day period it will go back on carsales (if there's no decent offers) for $54,500ono in the hope I can get $50k+ for it.

Can I ask why you're selling?

mehhh 46k for trade in. I guess thats the convenient when it comes to trade in. I was expecting around $50k+ something.

Reason for selling: my wife is pregnant, and expecting around August 2013. IS wont be suitable car for baby ( rear middle seat way to small ).

    Will be getting ML63 2013

    cheers

  4. change your oil engine every 5000kms yourself. save you huge $$$.

genuine lexus oil filter is also very cheap.

If you're using decent oil then you're just wasting your money dropping it every 5K. The average synthetic like Castrol Edge 5w-30 will be good for at least 10K-15K. If you're that concerned get a UOA (used oil analysis) done to see how well it's holding up.

Its not wasting money. for is350, you will feel the different if oil change at 10k. once you change it, the revs feel alot better and smoother. ( I can really feel it, I never regret change every 5k ). its only oil and it cost $70 every 5k , better than stealership charge $680. plus your drive feels better, engine last longer.

  5. What about PPE Engineering headers ? I got this email since December 2011, then never got any update since then.

We are currently working on the RHD version of our IS350 headers. We should have something available in January or February. Until we have the part available we won't know the final cost of the headers.

Lexus of Chatswood will be our Australian distributor. You can contact Sid Cetindag at Lexus of Chatswood here: sidc@m-a-g.com.au. They will be stocking the parts and will be handling all the sales in Australia and New Zealand. They will be doing the test fitting on our RHD version, and they can do the install for you as well.

Feel free to contact Sid or myself with any other questions.

    Best Regards,

    Paul Prentis
