1) Are these cars reliable? Yes 2) Are servicing costs expensive compared to say my MPS being around 250 - 300 for a normal service and 400 + for a major K-Mart Tyre oil change + Filter $130 3) What common problems are there with them, and are these prblems expensive to repair Engine smell from sulfur if you push the car really hard for a bit No fix possible. Problem across lexus, toyota. Even a new ford xr6 i test drove had it. my BMW 135i coupe didn't. 4) What problems and things should i be looking for when looking for my car, Anything to beware of? Nothing other than with any car you buy 5) What model has the most stylish kit? See pic below of the body kit i do like, Is this aftermarket? All models are the same basically, except sports, which I have, which has a nice spoiler on the rear, and bigger alloys which doesn't matter to you. Go for the Sports or Sports Luxury model, don't get prestige cause its just basic. google to find the differences. That said, between the 3 types there's actually not much difference.. 6) What springs get the drop like that pic, but offer a good ride quality, dont care about cost search the forum see what others have installed, do your homework, but thats down the track when you have the car. so dont even bother for now. 7) Anything else you might want to add? like yourself I like fast cars and previously had a bmw 135i 3.0L twin turbo. The is250 is slow. Fullstop. it's not fast and if you're into sporty cars you will eventually get bored of it. there's nothing you can really do to boost the power dramatically as it runs a high compression ratio. That said, you say you want to get a luxury car, and for 35k, an is250 is your best buy. oh and ps, don't spend 35k. budget around 25k for a sports/sports luxury. mileage max 140,000km the cars are reliable so dont fuss yourself about spending more money and getting lower mileage. spend the money on mods

If by raising you mean moulding / fabricating extra bits to raise the sides of the boot lid to match the spoiler height then $600 is cheap. Quoted $600-700 from TSX Styling in Nerang. The guy knew what he was talking about though and does a lot of custom work. It's not a big job as you say, it's a time consuming one. So I have the car booked in 2 weeks from now. Mez1103 did you get yours done in the end? I'm trying to find out now how far the sides can be shaved down because the guy at the shop said its 2 pieces stuck together so if he shaves it too far down it may open up. Cheers

okay to clarify, my is250 2007 sports im pretty sure has the hid/xenon kit in the headlamps. that said, the bulb i'm talking about is the outer ones. the one behind that big lens. the low beam. not the high beam (already replaced that one) So that said perhaps I've mistaken what the stock factory ones are? What are they? What I want is to replace them with white output ones. Philips I heard is good

This just in from Arma Our technician said he can make a quiet BOV for you like AUDI’s factory turbocharger. I told them about the plumb back idea & they replied Our technician said it’s okay, he can modify it as plumbed back for you. But we need two weeks working days after you are sure to place an order. I've uploaded the installation manual they sent me. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28023024/LEXUS%20IS-250%20300%20350.pdf

Hi Guys. - Queensland has no legally required regular checks of the car to ensure it is in good working order, so the only time these issues might be picked up is at point of sale or if a cop pulls you over and decides the blowoff valve etc is illegal. - ARMA replied with the following Stage 1 (For IS250, RRP:US$4600, shipping cost: US$150, we don’t handle your import tax.) includes: 1. Supercharger 2. Mounting brackets 3. Idler pulleys and accessory drive belt 4. High flow air filter 5. Supercharger inlet and duct 6. Hardware accessories It’s suitable for tuning shop or an experienced car enthusiast. The boost and hp gain are self-set by tuner. Stage 2 (For IS250, RRP:US$7200, shipping cost: US$220, we don’t handle your import tax.) includes: 1. Supercharger 2. Mounting brackets 3. Idler pulleys and accessory drive belts 4. High flow air filter 5. Supercharging piping 6. Hardware accessories 7. Blow off valve 8. Intercooler 9. Fuel management system (2.0 ECU & fuel injectors) It’s suitable for ordinary car owner. It's bolt on, complete kit and easy to install and maintain. After installed, your car will increase 30-35% hp & torque. ARMA supercharger has three main features: quiet, no oil leaking, and high-precision blade with outstanding output. BOV is illegal in your city? Really? Because many cars have this part in the stock condition, then how to import some cars like BMW 335? BOV is indispensable in this kit, but we can help you to do some modification to make it quiet. Is it okay for you? We don’t have in stock until early May.

FYI RGM motorsport also make one. I'm somewhat confused which is better. Will research the international forums to find out http://www.rgmotorsp...exus_is250.html interesting thing about RGM one is they talk about an additional Gas Flowed headers option which takes performance to 272kw which is like 364hp... i'm gonna email them and find out what the deal is
