Hi mate I have the same issue with my 2009 RX 350 where is rattles on start. I don't service with Lexus and it is out of warranty but i still carry out log book servicing at service centres locally. The last time they did an oil change using Penrite 5w40 synthetic the rattle stopped for about a month and now its back. And it has got a bit worse than before.

Are you able to tell me the exact oil brand and type you used please? I really cannot justify myself paying $2300 to the dealer to replace the cam gears as quoted by them.

    Thank you

    Hey Mate

I used Castrol Edge 5W-30 Titanium. The nose did go away for a while but once in a while it would come back. Ive actually sold the car 2 years ago, unsure if it is still a issue.

I also have a Mazda 6 MPS that has the same issue however oil wont fix the problem.

    Thanks

  3. Hey Guys,

Hoping someone can help me here.

Its time for me to sell my IS and i want to put it back to stock and remove the coil overs. The issue I'm facing is with the front shocks, the stock shocks are longer than the BC Racing coil overs I have. Not sure how I got them out int he first place but I guess because they were in use, they were a bit compressed. Since they have been storage for the past 3 years, they have expanded to the maximum length.

I've disconnected the A arm at the top as well as the front sway bar links, pushed the lower control arm as far as possible however I still need another inch to slide the stock shocks back in.

I haven't started on the rears but that should be easier as i can drop the lower control arm, bolt the shock back in and use a jack under the LCA to push it back up.

    Any suggestions guys

    Thanking you in advance!!

    Cheers

    Quoc

  4. So I have a 2012 is350 f sport which does not have Bluetooth streaming music as an option as this only came in the my13 August 2012 build.

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice to how I can get this feature.

Can I buy the stereo from the later build and have it installed? Will it fit? How much am I looking at spending?

Do you have the ML Stereo or the standard one? If the standard one, people have replaced their whole console with FlyAudio which will give them the full functionality e.g. onscreen display, GPS etc etc

If you do have the ML system - I also have this problem and have looked at alternate (besides plugging in the audio cable) - I read somewhere one of the alternate is to install/purchase something like a BlackBerry Music Gateway.

The BlackBerry Music Gateway is one of those must-have mobile accessories. It's small and versatile, allowing you to wirelessly stream music from your BlackBerry or other phone or tablet (Android, iOS, Windows Phone) to your traditional home and car audio systems.

Now you can enjoy the music on your mobile device through the power of your home or car stereo speakers.

Wirelessly play the music on your smartphone, tablet, or computer through your home stereo or car stereo using the BlackBerry Music Gateway. Just plug the BlackBerry Music Gateway into your stereo system, and pair it with most BlackBerry using Bluetooth connectivity or NFC technology, then fill any room with your music. It’s really that simple. You’ve got full control over playback, change tracks, volume, and play or pause because most BlackBerry is your remote control.

    Wirelessly play music from:

    • Bluetooth enabled laptops and personal computers
    • Bluetooth enabled smartphones
    • Bluetooth enabled tablets

    Connect BlackBerry Music Gateway to:

    • Bookshelf or computer speakers
    • Stereo system
    • In car stereo system
    • MP3 Player docking station

    Features:

    • Connect via Bluetooth or simply tap to connect your NFC enabled device.
    • Compatible with any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer that's A2DP enabled

    Additonal Informartin:

    • Smartphone, tablet or device must support A2DP and AVRCP Bluetooth profiles
    • Smartphone must support Near Field Communication (NFC) for tap to connect feature. (NFC technology is not enabled for all carriers. Please check with your service provider for availability).
    • Connect using the RCA or 3.5mm auxiliary cables included in the box

    Includes:

    • Music Gateway
    • 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable
    • 3.5mm to RCA cable
    • Micro-USB charger
  5. Yeah he sure has, then you should see what he did with his off road machine RZR

As they say, if you have to ask, - The RF T2500 amps RRP is $2300 each here in Aus

did he remove the ML system ? lol

btw went for a drive tonight and the ML sub seems to be back to normal,

" Iggy Azalea - Black Widow "came on the radio and the bass kicked in and sounded awesome,

    used these sound settings:

The only thing he kept was the factory ML head unit and amp (because it controls other functions of the headunit). He tapped the signal source from the factory ML amp to the RF 3Sixy.3 processor then to the RF amps to the sub & speakers

  6. Yeah it does look odd... I still have mine in place so when i take out my RF sub (because i need the boot space), I still have the ML sub. I havent ripped out my rear parcel shelf to see what the stock one looks like but im sure thats it.

No I dont have any pics of my sub, its just in a small 1 cubic foot box (i had from my previous car) and I have the RF amp hidden where you have your spare tyre tools are.

I do hope Ill get off my arse one day and build a proper box so it will sit flush to the rear seats but then again, I maybe upgrading to a newer model IS next year

I only started getting back into car audio after stumbling on Steve Meade - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/142076-ubllexus-is-f-sound-system-install-featured-in-performance-auto-sound-mag-page-6/

  7. Nah that's not it. It usually retails for around 300. It's weird that the sub sometimes sounds good but other times sounds broken. I have read that the foam surround the sub sits on sometimes deteriorates causing the sub to sound like it's broken. That could be it.

edit: its very strange, this morning i got in the car and the BASS sounds great!! lol, maybe my car battery is going bad ?

might replace the battery, as i didnt use my IS for a few weeks and the battery was nearly flat,

It wouldn't be the battery, if your battery is going bad, your car wouldn't start. Once the car is started, all the power draws off the alternator.

Are you playing from a external MP3 player or off a CD/MP3? It could be the source of the music it self as I know depending on how the MP3 has been encoded, some songs have more bass than others

If your alright with the tools, you can just pull out the back seats and lift up the rear parcel shelf and have a look at the sub it self and see if there are any cracks. How to removal the parcel shelf - google is your friend (http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/80212-remove-parcel-shelf-to-access-subwoofer/) and also what the stock ML sub looks like

In regards to the replacement free air sub - Im not sure about this as I replaced my ML sub with a aftermarket sub in a box powered with another amp

  8. What did you get installed btw... springs only or full coil overs?

Im pretty sure you cant adjust the camber (unless you have a camber kit) so that would be a over kill - just the caster and toe. There is about 1/2 a inch between the guards and tyre front and back on my car and i have about -1.3 degree camber.

$45 bucks is pretty cheap, just make sure they do a proper job and get a print out of the before and after adjustment. I went to beaurepairs in footscray, they spent 15 mins and charged me $60 (i dont think they did a proper job) so i took it to tyrepower and the boys spent about 30-40 mins getting it right for me.

  9. Looks nice mate - another 1/2 - 1 inch lower would look even better :ph34r::blink: :)

If you havent gotten a place to get your wheel alignment done and your in the east side,I get my wheel alignment by Tyrepower Camberwell (468 Burwood Road Hawthorn). I know the owner Sam and he really looks after his customers. They guys spent quite a bit of time making sure my alignment is as straight as possible.

  10. Hi all,

I just dropped my is250 for the 75k service at Chatswood lexus. The guy quoted me that the major service would cost me 1200 and to replace brake discs and pads for the front wheels costs 800 (including labour) and to fix a water pump 800. Hence totalling to $2800. Can someone please help me confirm this price, because I feel that it maybe overpriced.

    Much appreciated

When you mentioned the major service - Are we talking about the 75K or the 90K servcice. The 90K service sounds about right (most of the cost is actually the spark plugs) but not for the 75K service.

I had my water pump replaced about 15K ago and that costed me around $750 (Melbourne City Lexus)

In regards to the brake disc's and pads - As suggested my Lexykid - take it somewhere else to get it done. You can find a brake specialist who can supply and install them for you or you can do your research, buy the parts on line (Pads, disc's etc) and get your mechanic to install them your self (if your not good on the tools - there are plenty of youtube videos online on how to).

  11. I use Meguiars Soft Wash Gel and my cars have been paint protected with Opti-coat so no wax needed.

How do you find the Opticoat?I've been considering getting this.

Its awesome mate. Makes washing the car much easier as well as when it rains, water just beads off. Its pretty much another clear coat on your car. Took my detailer about 12 hours of cut and polish to get it to shine like it never has before before the opticoat is applied. Should last 3-5 years. I've opticoated my missus's car myself as well as well as windows and wheels (similar to like Rain-X) but more permanent.

The day after it was properly polished

15 months after opti-coat was applied - still beads
