I have stock shock with tanabe spring, and I'm loving the look and the ride quality too. Tiny bit firmer but not harsh yet.
But it's all depends on how low and how much comfort ride quality you're willing to trade.

Seems the wheels are actually painted so they need repainting, about $1500, now for Shine to take responsibility.
Hope your wheels come back great after the repainting. I have x wheels too with same finish...make me nervous / extra aware when I go to car wash shop after hearing your story.

I've just take 2 shots of the tyre from 2 slightly different angle. As you can see the rim and the sidewall preety much squared and even out. Compare it with my previous pic with the 225 - i'm sure at that time the rim was sticking out for about 0.5 cm.
As for -1.26% error, I think I can live with this :)

Going to 235/40 over 225/40 wouldn't this increase the rolling diameter of the tyre which in turn puts your speedo reading out?che_ryan,what did your tyre guy say about this?
Hi Tony...The guys at the tyre shop said it's ok as the aspect ration sill the same (235/40/18).
I've driven the new tyre for about 2 weeks now. and it seems ok. I mean it's hard to notice if the speedo off, but when I do 100km/h on eastern freeway looks like my speed is the same like any other car around me hahaha. Preety lame method of testing huh? :)

No probs ricky! All the best for ur tyre hunting :)
Now i need sell my 2 unused 225/40/18 hehe anyone? :)

I just back from tyre shop. Re-fitted front with Kumho KU22 235/40/18 and it's perfect! The tyre protruded a little hence enough rims protection. It does look much better too.
No rub at all - and didn't notice any difference on the weight of the steering (it probably a tiny difference almost unnoticeable).
-
I can understand why u didnt loke the look :( so am I. My lip is totally exposed, and i worry even a llittle pothole will ruin the rim
I wonder why 225 is the oem reccomended tyre size not 235.

G'day all .... Have 225/40R18 tyres on factory rims on my 2008 IS250x. Anyone experienced any problems (Rubbing/steering) by fitting 235/40R18's on front rims. Fronts are 8" rear are 8.1/2" (with 255's on). Had differing opinions from tyre fitters. thanks for any help. (Basically the 235's are $50 cheaper for the same tyre as they are a common fit for Commodores (Ugh)
Hi Bacchus,
I'm wondering if you go with 235/40 on the front? any rub? I also had a dilemma on the front tyre size on x wheels.
Can I see pic of your 235/40 tyre/wheel when u had time to take em?
-
UPDATE: I checked this morning that the 18x8 goes on the front and 18x18,5 on the back so that means that the tyres mounted on the correct wheels.
I will go and test fitment with 235/40 today.
-
Yeah my rims protectors doesn't show up at all. Infact front rims stick out for about 0.5 - 0.75 cms which lead me to believe that maybe the tyre shop put the 225 on 8,5 back wheels. Its possible that they did it wrong.

Hi Ricky,
I check few forums and 235/40/18 will not rub so its safe to go, and as for rim protection and better look i think it's the way to go?
Altough 225 is ok, but i really dislike the look... Looks like a smaller size in front :(
I'm going back to to tyre shop tomorrow for a test fit with 235/40. Hopefully the want to trade with my 225 since its only 1 day old..
I'll take a pic once its done

It just depends on the tyre brand. my previous tyres looked like that but I've got pirelli's atm and it is pretty meaty next to the lip. no need to worry
:) Thanks guys! made me feel better... I guess I won't need to worry then since you all have same ones. For the next tyre change will 235/40 fit without rubbing?
-
Thanks for the info :) so does your front rim slightly stick out as well?
Hmm i wonder if it'll work if i put 235/40/18 for the front? So i hv better rim protection

Hi guys,
Just back from tyre shop to put on new x pacakge 18inch wheels in my is250.
The wheels looking great but for some reason something looks odd for the front one. The tryre size seems not wide enough for the wheels so the lip is sticking out (hence not much wheel protection too). Is it possible that the tyre is not mounted properly? It looks a little ugly to be honest :(
I confirm many times from many online sources and dealer that the front tyre size is 225/40/18 for 18/8 wheel size. Which is the tyre that I bought, but I'm wondering it can look like that if it's OEM recomended size?
Tyre is Kumho KU22.
See pic for better explanation of the situation.
Any toughts? any x package owners experience this too?

This topic can be closed, I've bought a set from Lexus Blackburn through their ebay shop.

Hi all, looking for a full set of 18" x package wheels that is still in good condition. Anyone selling?
PM me if you do. I'm located in Melbourne. Melbourne based would be better.

I'm still on the market for OEM 18" and find out Lexus Blackburn had brand new set of 4 - 18" x wheels for $990 (no tyres). Is this a good price? What's the market price for the X wheel set?
Or will I find cheaper from other source?

I just had my 90k service done. Tried a different Lexus dealer (Kedron) due to my dissatisfaction with Lexus Indooroopilly. Made them aware of this and they did it for $990 as opposed to the $1300 quoted by Indooroopilly.
Can I ask what happened with indooroopilly? Just out of curiosity.

This is pretty cool, like watching a real life version of GT5 racing mod :D
Definitely not for amateur modder, this is my fav thread in the whole forum!
Maybe I should paint my ISF racing mod on GT5 blue as well.
Awesome video, want to see more :) what a great sound as well.
-
congrats on the new ride :) Is350 f-sport is a very handsome car indeed
You can always try combo of F-Sport intake + exhaust. I watched some youtube video of the sound after the mod and it's like a beautiful music to your ears :)
I have is250 myself and f-sport intake is next on the list

Just had my 90k service done @Lexus Blackburn today, supply my own iridium plugs. In total cost me $1080 + gifts (LFA cap and lexus pen) hahaha. And a free courtesy car as well (didn't get 350 tho)
My mate is one of the mechanic there, he confirm that lexus use castrol (not full synthetic one) and Lexus charge me $90 for the oil. I should've brought my own oil too.
Car is good, engine feels smoother and they managed to fix front passenger door trim rattle too. Not a bad outcome. I have waayyy terrible experience servicing my E class before both mentally and wallet hahah.
