Lexus Gs350 F Sport

Lexus has released new images and details for its upcoming 2012 GS 350 F Sport variant, following an unexpected unveiling at the Johannesburg Motor Show earlier this month.

Officially, the handling- and style-focused GS F Sport will make its global debut at next month's SEMA show in Las Vegas, while an Australian unveiling for the new GS range will occur simultaneously in Melbourne.

The GS F Sport picks up a few more of the LF-Gh concept's styling cues, including a tougher front and rear bumper design, the "spindle" grille pattern and a boot-lid lip.

At each corner are 19-inch alloy wheels wearing 235/40/19 tyres up front and fat 265/35/19 rubber at the back. Lexus has also tweaked the F Sport's suspension package, recalibrating the Adaptive Variable Suspension system.

A new 'Lexus Dynamic Handling' pack can also be optioned, adding four-wheel-steering that utilises an advanced monitoring system for speed, yaw, steering and lateral g-forces.

In the cabin, the GS 350 F Sport gets 16-way power-adjustable sport seats, including controls for bolster position, thigh support, seatback and lumbar support.

Aluminium highlights feature through the cabin, along with perforated leather trim, a black headliner and F Sport badging and embroidery.

The F Sport variant will be offered in Riviera red, Liquid platinum, Starfire pearl, Nebula grey and Obsidian black.

Propelled by the same 233kW 3.5 litre V6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission driving the regular GS 350, the F Sport promises a 0-100km/h time of 5.7 seconds.

Often, photos of future vehicles don't look as good as computer-generated drawings. Not so with these. The new GS F Sport is that good, the photos look better than the drawings. I can't wait to see it for real!
