Help For After Market Headunit

I just baught my head unit from china its an eonon double din 7 inch. I installed it all really nicely but i have a problem, i have a wiring harrness to bypass the amp and plug straight into the speakers but when i plug it in my clock, seatwarmers all turn on except the headunit doesnt! This is because i have to connect the 12v wire to a power source, so i connected it to the cigarette lighter which i was told to do by a dude at autobarn and the HU came on without a problem but then i took the key out and everything stayed on again is this because i need to wire the 12v wire (which is red) to the acc switch in the key cylinder? Please help ive never done this before and struggling on my own THANK YOU
