Is This Normal?

Hi,

I have a 2009 3rd gen RX and the rear suspension creaks at the moment whenever the vehicle to a halt. Is this normal?

Also, occasionally, there is this burnt smell when I start the engine. Is this ok?

I haven't experienced either of these occurrences with either of my RXs.

Is it the suspension that's creaking or is it the brakes? Worn pads, perhaps?

As for the burning smell, I have occasionally noticed a rotten egg smell after a short drive, but never when the engine is first started.

If your car's still under warranty I'd get the dealer to have a look at it, just in case.

sounds like the back suspension - it creaks when the body squats back down after braking.

Thought I check with forummers first in case it is normal.

with the burned smell..

I just had the same issue with my car (rubber burned smell)..

and manage to found out apparently it's coming from underneath the car where the exhaust pipe line are.. it caught a plastic bag or something.. and it's melting.. (could be I've driven pass a plastic bag on the road or something..)

would've thought it would passed through underneath the car.. NOT..

i got the service centre to scrape it off for me..

and the smell is gone now..

with the creaking.. are you sure it's coming from the rear suspension?

nothing from the interior?
