hi the gps naviagation is not working does it have to have the original radio aerial or can a aftermarket radio aerial still do the job

how about we start off with wat yr model your car is

as theres GS300 from 2nd gen to all the way to 4th gen

thanks danny for your reply it is a 2001 gs300 2jz vvt engine i fitted a aftermarket radio aeriel and just after the cd did not work on the gps mapping.

i took the cd out and found gaps missing on the white paint of the cd. after removing the reader unit in the boot & tapping white flakes came out.

looks like i might just need to find another cd and maybe clean the play unit it still turns when powered up. like to keep it original as best car i have ever had and plan to keep a while longer

no worries that narrows it down

very simialr system to the 2002-2005 IS200/300 systems

try another CD (where is map cd) that can be found on the later model 2nd gen IS and 3rd gen GS

if that fails then it could be the Map CD reader in the boot or give it a good clean with a cd cleaner

i have replaced a few on the 1st gen IS in the past few months and that seemed to work
