Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2005 Lexus ES 300 and I am in doubt that the fuel consumption is high. 16.3 L/100 Km.

During the pre-purchase inspection I was told it may need an O2 Sensor. Is that the reason or do you think the consumption is normal?

Thanks,

an 02 sensor would throw out the ECUs reading and might be putting more fuel in than required.. I would put in a new O2 sensor and go from there as a start

Thank you for the advice. Do you know a good independent lexus/Toyota mechanic who can do the job in Sydney?

Its not really a lexus specific job but I would either goto lexus chatswood or goto any of your own trusted mechanic and get it done, I did one in my 2005 Mazda my self at home.. not a big job

Oh thank you. That's very helpful and assuring.
