I've found Toyota's to be very reliable, but the most annoying thing about them is that they use a lot of oil!

They don't burn it through the exhaust but lose a lot!

I've had a 2001 Corolla that just ran and is still going, even though it has 14 error codes in the ECU and needs its oil topped up regularly.

Now, I'm driving the most annoying piece of crap, the RX 330! This thing just likes eating its oil!  The sparkplug change is designed for ferrets trained to do just that!

The oil issue came to my attention when the oil light came on while going around a corner, so it got its top-up, but I was surprised by how low it got!

So I started to keep an eye on it, but being flat-out busy, I just waited for the light to flash at me.

The oil dipstick is a pathetic attempt, and it's easy to think you see more oil than there is.

Then, just recently, I got the Check Engine light come on, and then the VSC light comes on! So all of you have been on YouTube and have gone through the process of trying it all?

I used the Snap On diagnostics tool and the fault code P0346 Cam Angle Sensor error came up and got cleared, that went on for days! Until the new sensor came.

Fitted and code cleared, it didn't fix it!

In the end, I thought I'd give the car a clean and check over, checking the oil, I wasn't sure, so I started pouring 500ML bit by bit, and the dipstick was doing its strange things!

Reading overfull, then very low! So I just continued pouring more in, until almost 3 Litres went in!! Stupid!! The dipstick was still doing crazy things, so a little abrasion happened until

the readings got more consistent. The weird thing out of all of this is that the check engine  and vsc lights are staying off, and not once did the oil light come on!

So, don't ever trust your dash lights and never accept the codes that come out. Always check your oil, but abraid the dipstick to hold on to the oil, never just accept that it looks right.
