Hi,

I've been searching google for days with no info on the stock cam duration and lift. Ive emailed Toda for info on them but no reply as yet.

Does anyone know the stock cam specs?

Btw, nice site you guys have here :D

Lol Matt...not all of the info is in japanese ...just a fair bit

these are the only cams that Toda produce that will keep the VVTi

Basically i want to see if these cams are worth it. The stock cams have to be a little aggressive but im interested in how much larger these VVTi friendly cams are.

Thank you for your e-mail and interest in TODA Racing. We offer the following camshaft which retain the VVT function:

INTAKE 268/12.0mm

EXHAUST 264/11.0mm

All our other camshafts require disabling the VVT function.

VVTi cannot be used, Toda springs & cam pullies required

290* in 13.3mm lift

295* in 13.3mm lift

300* in 13.3mm lift

280* ex 13.0mm lift

285* ex 13.0mm lift

295* ex 13.0mm lift

I dont understand that reply! but I was told not possible to do camshafts as vvti will be lost and thus why I didnt change mine!!

Is that what has been established?

AS long as the change is nothing to major the vvti can be retained...

Yeah I'd believe that. With VVTI the total cam duration over the whole rev range is probably greater than a racing cam because of the low end power timing. So using 13mm lift at the very low rev range AND the very high rev range will end up with a valve smacking a piston.

A hot cam will not have any bottom end, and will be timed for high end power only.

I'd like to see standard specs too, and compare them to the Toda VVTI cam at

INTAKE 268/12.0mm

EXHAUST 264/11.0mm

I know there is a local misconception with these cars. The do not come with VVTLi. There is only one cam lobe profile on each cam. There is no cam switch over because it isnt a multi lobe cam.

My guess is the stock cams are going to be in the 245*-254* duration and 9-10mm lift.

I am still interested to know how they manage to get 105bhp per liter out of such relativly mild cams though....yamaha must've done wonders with the head port design.

I sent another email to Toda asking what the power gains were.

They said that peak power would be increased 15-18hp. They also stated that with their valve springs you could increase the redline to 9000rpm.

cant wait till i can afford to start modding this thing seriously :D

TRD does camshafts for vvti use, there are two different specs.

Intake 296 degrees @ 13mm lift or 280 degrees @ 12.2mm lift

Exhaust 296 degrees @ 12.7mm or 280 degrees @ 12.0mm

then they also do camshafts for the disabled vvti
