Zman Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Hey People, Is it me or do the GS300 brakes feel a bit spongy? I mean they're great if i plant my foot on it, but coasting around takes a bit getting use to. Is this normal for the GS?
greeneyes Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Don't you throw an anchor overboard and lower the sails to stop a GS??? Drive another one from a car lot and compare.
frylai Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 you might need to bleed your brakes if its havent been done for a while, otherwise go got some TRD brake lines and your brakes will feel like a merc... Matt =)
hkgs300 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Another option is go for a big brake kit. You can fit the Supra 4-pot calipers without any modifications, and together with the Supra rotors this will be the cheapest upgrade. Then you can also fit the TRD bbk. Will significantly improving braking and the brake feeling.
ttgs300 Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 I reckon it must be standard, because i have 2 gs300's, 1 twin turbo and 1 standard, and both of them are a bit spongy! I might try to source a supra 4 pot brake kit and try to see how it goes. Cheers, SID. :)
frylai Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 if it's just spongy as the feeling of the brakes and you do not need alot of extra performance out of your brakes all you have to do is go for some brake lines...if you need to source the brake kit or brake lines I m always here to help... Matt =)
Zman Posted July 27, 2004 Author Posted July 27, 2004 in my car, the stopping power is there, its jsut i wont feel it until i've pushed 2/3rds on the way down
gwin Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 happens to me too new pads, new discs.. still dont have the power grip like a honda
hkgs300 Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 did you renewed your brake fluid? Also, get stainless brake lines. The spongy feeling is likely caused by too much flex. in the rubber brakelines and/or old brake fluid.
gwin Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 fluid hasnt been replaced, does lexus service normally do it?
frylai Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 fluid hasnt been replaced, does lexus service normally do it? hell yeah!!! they need to have atleast check those cheap *BLEEP*! Matt =)
