Hi everyone,

I was just wondering what it would cost to purchase a new key fob for the lexus is250? Is it just a matter of bringing in your master key into a lexus dealer for them to duplicate or is there more to it?

Thanks

yes that is probably the cheapest way.

get a FOB key from US and then get it chipped and get the key cut also

What do you mean "chipped"

Have you used a key ordered from the USA?

Are they the same frequency as used in Australia?

I think the US is missing the trunk release or the panic alarm button one or the other.

The European I think are more closely related our model.

A Lexus dealer will probably be the ones to ask.

We recently brought our IS250 in to have the keys changed over due to interference. They said the newer keyfobs used a wider frequency band of some sort. On our invoice, it said ~$600 if I remember correctly, but it was done free of charge even though we were off warranty (we've had the car for a little over 4 years now). They changed both keys.

This is why I asked about keys from the USA.

Phamish it wasn't just your keys changed but also something in one of the computers for the locking system which changes the operating frequency thus eliminating the interference.

I believe it is switched to a frequency that Singapore or some other country use.

Thats why I question buying keys from other regions, gotta make sure before you order that the fob is the same frequency.
