  1. The standard ones are high friction pads designed for regular high speed braking (i.e 180+km/h)

Doubt many of us are able to get those kind of speeds regularly enough to need these kinds of pads.

All you need to look for is any good ceramic pads, some advertise 'low dust' and designed for Australian roads, there both good.

I was going to call Melb City Lexus to see if they would swap them over for me but now that you say you asked.. i duno.

I might try give it a go anyway.

    Nick

Unfortunately that is an American TSIB and has no validity in Aus, I've tried. I'll be looking for less dust from my next pads. but until then will continue to clean off with the regular wash each week or two and using a dry cloth when it gets bad in between washes.

  2. I won't go into detail here now, that's what the links for as it might sound anal to some but to a car lover it's a must to keep scratches to a minimun. The new lexus paint will take up to a year for the paint to harden, so be careful when you wash it. Just thought you should know.

Gotta love a clean Black car :P but I bet those rims are a pain in the .... the clean

  3. Are you referring to the models outside Australia? The Prestige and Sport don’t come with the SatNav as standard. The prestige option cost $8,188 +GST and sport cost 6,600 + GST. Sport Lux is the only model that includes the SavNav package.

If you add the SatNav option to the Prestige, you will immediately lose $9006.8 according to the Redbook. This is right up the alley of European cars. The official Lexus Aust. web site has a list of Accessories that will Pimp your ride. They are cool and I dream about having them. If you don’t mind losing $9006.8, might as well spend another 10K of Lexus accessories starting with the tow bar $1500+GST. Not me though, family want a holiday.

    No, Australian models.

Yes, if you add extras then that money is immediately lost on redbook. What I'm suggesting is you can buy 3 different levels that have various options that will depreciate from that level (unless you add extras), but the Sports luxury has it all and no other options available, therefore you are not prone to the losses. If you get a euro car and all the Lexus bits for the sports luxury you end up well over $100k on road.

If you have the prestige or sports then you would probably be better off getting your own Nav system that you can take with you.

  4. I agree with Natroth.

The car is sold 'as is' and so will depreciate from there. BMW, Merc, Audi et al, all give a fairly basic car and it's very easy to then add loads of money for sports suspension, satnav, moonroof, xenon lights, radar cruise etc etc etc. that will never be added to the car before depreciation starts, especially for redbook.

One of the very reasons I went with the Lexus, and still love it.

  5. Hi there, I know it's been a while since you last got your tint done.

I also have an IS250 and I'm considering of getting mine tinted as well. One of my main concerns is the front windows where the tweeters are on the doors.

I was told by the dealer that the IS250 that it's a tight fit to get proper tinting since it's tight fit. How did yours turn out?

Also you mentioned the metallic tint didn't affect your audio reception? Any issues with the keyless smart entry stuff?

Any help or advice in this area is welcomed :)

No problems at all. No mention of probs with tweeter placement, and all electronics working as I would expect.

  6. My car was hail damaged by the hail storm in Sydney on the Sunday the 9 of December. The windscreen is cracked and there are a whole lot of dents on the car even though there is no paint damage. I have an insurance claim number and I am in the process of engaging a body repairer. I have heard about Paintless Dent Removal. Can someone advise me on this technique? Should I find a repairer who will use this technique? Any other relevant advise will be appreicated.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. :( :(

I've had several small door dings remove with this method and it is very effective and cheap. Basically they caress the dent out from behind, therefore they need to be able to get behind the offending area. Door panels etc are usually easy.

I suspect you will need a repairer though if you have dents near pillars or areas that are inaccessible.

  7. Great car but can't want for the 350 to come to australia i have installed a tanabe medalion exhaust on mine now which i bought from usa sounds suberb.

Love the black. Just needs windows tinted

How much to get the exhausts imported and installed? Was it full cat back or just mufflers?

I'm also dead keen on the 350. The IS-F is just too unneccessary for a daily driver in city traffic for me.

  8. Hey all,

Just picked up my IS250x, and for some reason when I load genuine CD's, there is no CD name, or Track Listing. Just comes up with CD1, CD2, etc....and Track 1, Track 2, Track 3 etc.

Surely this ML sound system would be able to list the actual name of the CD and each track ? The CD's I have loaded are genuine CD's, not pirated music.

Anyone know how I can work this ?

    Cheers.

Just rip them and burn several onto one CD. You can then select the album of choice and names will be displayed.
