  1. I know the carbon deposits were a common thing with direct injectors for the IS250's however was yours fixed under warranty from a dealer or even a part rebuild of piston rings, seals like the above video?
  2. Hi Guys, I came across this video - even though it's based on the US GS300 it also mentions about IS250 engines. Does anyone have any additional information on this? I assume the engines themselves whether US/AU spec all come from Japanese factory. I haven't got anything from Lexus Australia and my dealer hasn't mentioned anything during my scheduled servicing. Apologies if this has already be posted or mentioned somewhere.
  3. Factory pads and rotors seemed to wear out around 35-45K mark which sounds about right. Yes the rotors do go quicker on this car. I've changed mine to aftermarket DBA rotors and Bendix CT's and 25K later they make less noise and dust from the factory ones. Still going strong.
  4. You can now buy like a 10 pack on eBay. Not sure if they are still available but I had the same problem also
  5. Your pads might be glazzed causing uneven contact with the rotors resulting the squeeks. Try some hard braking in a quiet street (without coming to a complete stop) - It's similar to bedding in the surface pads with the rotor.
  6. Have a look at the rear left door door sensor. It's held in with one screw from memory. Take it off and see if the internals are damaged or not. I had a sorta similar issue with you with the same door - except when opening the door it light wouldn't come on cos the rubber boot fuse the switched close. Probably because I don't use that door that often.
  7. Never seen that before. Definately take it back to the dealer.
  8. Things you have to set after removing the battery. From memory it's the clock, radio presets, speedo & tacho alert range. To be honest I think my fuel economy even improved from the ECU reset :) No point upgrading the battery unless you got huge a$$ sound system or the battery struggles to start the car (Like mine did). /My 2c
  9. Today I decided to replace my battery as it's showing signs of dying for the past week. ~4 years in service since new. Got a new Century battery. Word of warning though the new 2012 catalogues (not just for century but other brands as well) have the IS250 listed as a type which doesn't fit the dimensions of the battery tray (Slightly smaller). The right size and CCA rating is the one that's listed for the ISF. It's funny on the websites they have the correct battery type but their printed material is different. I compared my old factory Panasonic battery with the one listed for the ISF and it's the same size. Now the car starts smoothly everytime. Just wanted to share my experience if your up for a new battery.
  10. Like you I did it myself too. I would say there's slightly more initial bite but pedal feels the same. The significant difference is the less dust generated on the wheels. I think you'll enjoy it mate :)
  11. Should be this weekend DBA rotors and Bendix CGT pads. Should get me less brake dust. I'm running DBA rotors and Bendix GCT combination too. 20K later no noise and much much less dust. Loving it :)
  12. Hey Justin, I know I can't make it due to prior commitments, but I just want to say congratulations on your big day :) - Jom
  13. Was that a relatively expensive option? Mine's still under factory warranty too. Is there any way I could get a replacement under warranty? I'm a bit disappointed they failed to do anything about it at my last service, but perhaps the problem isn't one that can be seen with just a visual inspection. Like you and other members have told me, the standard Lexus pads/discs seemed to be the cause of the noise, even if it looks like they are in good condition (as i was told after my last service) For me I did it myself. I'm a bit of a home mechanic. It was ~$400ish for all parts. I got quoted for $700+ from Lexus. I know the dealers got to make money but the upmark is unjustified IMO. My setup is * DBA front rotors * Bendix GCT Ceramic Most of the Sydney people who seen my car it's pretty bone stock but I reckon it's fit for my purpose. If your after the same feel but a little better than stock (Not much) then the combination above suits it really well. Obviously if your a modest driver in peak hour traffic like me it works well. I have no complains 15K+ later. Plus 85% less dusty wheels!! My car has been to Lexus and they didn't say anything.
  14. The squeal noise come from the factory pad / rotors by design. I started getting the noise ~15K mark also. I put up with it until the time they needed to be change. I went aftermarket DBA rotors and ceramic pads and they're worn in over 15K later with no noise. My car is still under factory warranty but I did it anyway as it constitutes as a wear and tear item.
