  1. JML, what did you get quoted for the installation of the clear bra? Where are you getting it done at?

I have a black X and I contacted The Hills Detailing Centre (Meguiars Seven Hills) to get a price; they said that depending how bad the swirl marks are the cost will be between $350.00 - $450.00 for the first time and $90.00 for the next visit. Being only 3 months old there are only minor swirls, and while the initial cost is quite pricey, I think it will be worth it for the long term maintenance.

    Hi FrankyX,

I got my Clear Bra installed by OziCozi Stone Guard. They are located in Artarmon and they did a fantastic job! :)

At first, I paid them a visit on Monday so I can see for myself as to how the clear bra would look like when it's on. Would you believe that when I arrived, there was a Sky Blue Ferrari (don’t know which model it is) but upon having a look at it, it really depends on the angle / lighting to see the very fine line as to where the clear bra ends. They even had a Porsche and Aston Martin! When I was waiting to pick up my IS, they just completed doing a Lamborghini (that was offsite work though).

The quote that I was given was $675 for the whole “Car – Full Kit”. This includes the both the Bumper and Bonnet Kits. They even did the door cups and the front Lexus Badge for me. I am very happy with the results and now it will help minimize potential stone chips.

Link to their website is… http://www.ozicozi.com.au/index.htm

Speak to Andrew or Chris. Both are very friendly and they know their stuff.

I’ve taken two photos when I picked up the IS yesterday, but sorry that the pics don’t outline as to where the Clear Bra has been installed. You really have to see it in the flesh.

  2. They looks alloys look identical to my 08 IS250 sports luxury 17" ones. I could be mistaken but im pretty sure they are exactly the same.

What are the specs on them from the original poster? Think mine are R17 225/45 and 245/45. 10 spoke - pain in the ass to keep clean

Yes, the new 09 model rims (Front R17 225/45 and Rear R17 245/45) are quite similar to the 08 except the rims has a slightly more rounded finish. Personally I kinda like the 08 17" rims instead.

  3. Hey, it looks gr8. Is there anywhere closer to the Inner West (than Seven Hills) that does this sort of paint protection / clear bra work?

From the Meguair's website, it seems that there is another detailing centre in 112 - 126 Broadway Sydney. Next to Broadway Shopping.

I had the Clear Bra done at OziCozi Stone Guard at Artarmon.

  4. Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the compliments 

The car is currently going to get a Clear Bra installed tomorrow. I drove it to Artarmon straight away after the paint treatment, hoping that it will not rain. I’ll take some pics of it when I pick it up on Friday.

Naz, they use the Next Generation Tech Wax as well as clay sanding the paint. I also had them wash the car as it was parked underneath a tree for a whole day. It suffered from some bird droppings and when I removed it, the large portion of the dropping somehow got into the paint! But they managed to get rid of it when I pointed it out them. The cost is around $250 and as Natroth has mentioned, you can get it polished every 6 months. When I came back after 5 hours today, I couldn’t help but has this big smile which I couldn’t hide… at how clean and shiny the car looks 

Natroth, it was actually you who suggested this place during one of the forum threads sometime early last year. I have also gone into the meguiars website and I noticed that your car is in the promo pics and she looks great!! If you haven’t seen it, the url link is below.

ProjectIS, I was thinking of getting a pair of illuminated white scuff plates first and then maybe the gfx kit. But this all depends if the misses agrees to my request ;) As for the pics, I’ll post some more when I get the car back on Friday :)

As for driving on the M2, i rearly use that motorway. I'm around the innerwest and I tend to use the M4 more often. But I'll keep you posted to see how the paint protection is going. I mainly got it for the UV, Bird Droppings, tree sap etc... and to try to stop the stone chips, getting a clear bra installed.

  6. Thanks - I'm sure that we will be enjoying it for many years to come.

As for the rear bumper, honestly speaking I don't see much of a difference. But they did make a slight change to the bottom part of the rear bumper though.

I think they call it a 'diffuser' (don't know if this is the right spelling or term - sorry).

I have found a pick of it on a Red coloured IS350. You have to scroll down and have a clear look at the bottom end of the bumper.

  7. Hi Everyone,

After about a year and a half… finally I am a proud owner of a new graphite coloured IS250! Signed up for it last week with my wife and we will be taking delivery of it during this coming weekend! We are both very excited :)

I’ll be taking some pics of the new baby soon and will post them up.

Since we signed up for the revised/refreshed 09 model, unfortunately I am not able to install the original Lexus Rear ground effects kit which I purchased during a group buy along with other members on this forum during the middle of this year from Sewel Lexus.

I was hoping to have it installed but was told by Lexus AUS that due to the bumper being different on the 09s, it will not be possible. This was also mentioned on other forums around the net.

So, if anyone that has a 06 to 08 model Graphite coloured IS (Colour code 1G0) and is interested in buying a rear ground effects kit just send me a PM. Remember guys, it is only the rear skirt and not the entire body kit.

Thanks everyone and Have a Happy New Year :)

  8. Thanks Mahera :)

Danggg mann that looks veryy nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wowee that a tough choice between sports rim and X rim. What does everyone else think?

Pricing I have from Melb Lexus for Rims with no tyres:

The Sports alloys $2650.00. The Blade alloys are $2156.00

Not sure which rims to get hmmm

Sorry to hear about your stone chips, do know which clear bra you are going to get? is it a 3M or are there any others around nsw? I was looking at http://www.ozicozi.com.au/ but not sure how good they are. Where are your chips? mainly on the bonnet?

As for the paint, I suggest some paint proteciton, my current Black IS200 has the Paint protection from www.infinityauto.com.au. It works wonders when it comes to looking after the paint, real easy to wash and after 4 yrs the car looks like new, people always comment on that.

As for Rim damage a lot of people suggest tyres with curb protection. Not sure how good they are any opinions anyone??

    Hi Naz,

This morning I just got back a reply from Sewell in regards to another email I have sent to them about the rim sizes for their 18" Graphite alloys and here is their reply...

"Speaking from experience, yes our US wheels fit the AU Lexus models just fine. There is not a difference between the various wheels, except style. We'll have the offsets updated on our website shortly.

    Always a pleasure,

  9. Hey Chappy :) thanks for the heads up.

I am thinking of going for a black or blue so the new sports wheel will look good with it. Do you guys know what tyres are best to run on these. I was talking to my dealer today and he was saying becarefull as the wheels may not fit properly on the car here etc, Do you guys think it's safe not to worry about that, considering they are from lexus in the US? I know melb city lexus is doing the wheels quite cheap aswell but they are not in the graphite finish. They quoted be around 2600 for the sports wheel plus 1600 for Dunlop tyres. Where as dealers in Sydney are saying it will cost around 5200 with tyres!

Also I dont get what you mean with setting up an account at sewell, do I need to setup a seperate account with fedex to get it here? or just create a account on their website?

Has anyone else see any pics with the graphite wheel anywhere? I would be keen to check these out. What wheels does everyone else have on their cars.

    Hi Guys,

I emailed Sewell in regards to the alloys (to find out if they will 'fit' into the IS250 here) and their response is...

"Unfortunately, we are not really able to confirm if they do or do not fit with vehicles in Australia, as we do not have access to these particular vehicles to test our wheels on.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you,

    Thank you, "

Hmmm... but as Chappy mentioned, they should be as I don't see any difference as they are oem parts. There are so many people buying/importing other alloys from overseas and their IS250/350 wheel configuration should be compatible with the ones here.

But those graphite alloys sure do look nice on the dark colour :)

As for the pricing, we are still a few months away before we are ready so no real deals yet. How about you? When are you looking into purchasing yours?

  10. Hi Chappy,

Thanks for the heads up in regards to the White illuminated sill plates, but I was wondering if you installed it yourself? I have a feeling that for the Prestige model it will not be as simple as plug and play. I have read that on certain IS models that power will need to be re-routed for the sill plates to be illuminated?

Btw, your car looks sweet especially with your exhaust :)

  11. Hi Naz, I am not sure if the Sports alloys have the new finish here or let alone any new IS250 Sports comes with them. But when you find out, please let us know. The rims that I am currently looking at are the ones that is on the IS250X which I really like, but the new finish on the Sports alloys is growing on me. The colour which we will be choosing is Graphite as both my wife and I love the look of the IS in that colour :)

Here are some pics I found on the Graphite coloured IS

    http://my.is/forums/f126/updated-pics-new-...ver-dam-356566/

WOW 895 for sports pedals??? Ummm... I think that I would rather get the White illuminated door scuff plates from sewell instead ;)

  12. No heated and cooled seats on the IS250X? No wonder when I saw the interior pics of the X that is floating around the web I couldn't see any climate control seat dials near the gear center console area. I guess that's why they also only mention 'smooth leather seats' for the X.

As for the 18" Sports Alloys, I think that there is a new colour out there, the Carbon Metallic and you can check it out from Sewell Lexus Parts http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts.asp...80&pid=1270 as mentioned on previous posts in this forum.

My budget is also for the Prestige model with emv but would love to have the factory HIDs, but Lexus doesn't have this as an option on this grade. Oh well... looks like it's going to be, good bye HIDs and hello 18" wheels instead :)

  13. Taffyx,

I have always had my new cars paint treated by Meguiars. I am using NXT GENERATION TECH WAX 2.0. I have used this on my BMW. SAAB and now on my IS250. It is excellent. Bird crap, tree sap etc just wipes off. I got the local Meguiars shop to put my treatment on but you can do it yourself.. There are many brands of this out there but this is the best one I have used. My three year old midnight blue SAAB still looks like it just came out of the showroom.

This is the advertising blurb but I believe it is true from my own experience...... "NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 gives a deep, vibrant colour and a dramatically clear wet-look. Hydrophobic Polymer Technology™ provides water beading and protection against oxidation, corrosion, UV rays and surface degradation".

    Natroth,

By any chance you can advise on how much the Meguiars teatment would cost?

  14. You do have a very valid point regarding the HIDs on the sports models. I guess when the time comes, we'll see what the sales rep will be willing to do (also depends on the price tag).

Btw, I was just going through the lexus.com.au site and they are having the Limited Edition IS250X release again this April. This time there will be 450 and with this Artic Blue colour instead of the Silver from last year. Really whish they have included the Graphite colour this time around.

  15. Yeah I even mentioned that the Euro had HIDs and the Sales rep then replied by saying it’s a different class of car. I agree with him, but even with the different classes, at least for a car that will be over 55K when on the road, at least it should have this as an option, in my opinion.

I read on past post in this forums that if you were to install your own HIDs, that it will void warrantee due to the ballasts that needs changing? Lexus has also confirmed this.

Actually I also checked out how much for the 18” ‘Blade’ alloy wheels (same wheels that the Limited Edition IS250X) and it’s going for $610 each without tires. I like the look of those alloys.
