  1. beast of a car, though only 2JZ-GE? if you're importing an aristo why not get a Turbo? haha the kit is so big though that you cant lower it enough to really set off those wheels which is a shame. how much dish you got on those wheels!? my current S13 has 125mm (5") front and 150mm (6") rear, so im a bit sad ill never get that much dish on a GS300 without serious widebody haha why the sale, bit too much of a cop magnet and too hard to drive that low?
  2. dude i am also looking at GS300s at the moment as i may buy one in the near future. i come from an S13 Silvia background (you would probably know it as 240sx etc) and through those forums (e.g. nissansilvia.com) there are a great deal of importers who import parts from Japan. If/when i buy a lexus i will be going through one of these guys. there are larger companies/traders who can get what you want, but i have used a guy called Jesse Streeter on many occassions for silvia parts and hve been very impressed. He is an aussie who lives in Japan, and he bids on parts from the yahoo auctions or simply directly contacts companies you ask him to in order to get the parts you request. You do need to have a bit of a clue what you are after to let him know what to look for, but he is very quick to respond and send goods, and is happy to bid/buy things for you up front if they arent too expensive, and then you pay him inclusive of freight when he sends the goods. GS300 LED Taillights and upgrade headlights are all over the yahoo auctions, so if you asked him about those i have no doubt he would be able to get those priced easily. Also bodykits im pretty sure he can organize to send over for you if you let him know what one you wanted priced e.g. Wald. to contact him just email dartsun75@gmail.com i would recommend someone like him also because if you do manage to find parts locally no doubt there will be a large premium/markup on them because there isnt much local demand and thus not much competition
  3. this is super old school topic but im on a roll and am fairly up on offsets at least with my S13 silvia! and also been doing hours of reading on amercan lexus forums for offset insights (mostly on GS300s though...) the lower the number on the offset, the further out the wheels will protrude from the hub/wheel arch. You dont have to necessarily stay the same as factory specs, otherwise its hardly an upgrade because its simply cosmetic. The combination of width and offset are the main things to consider. if you are going wider, then the wheel will stick out Both sides of the hub e.g. go from 8" rim to 9" rim, you will have an extra 1/2" (12.5mm) either side of the hub. If you keep the exact same factory offset, your wheel will stick out 12.5mm more toward the edge of the guard, and will stick inward 12.5mm closer to the suspension. it may be that it will hit the suspension, therefore lowering the offset will bring the wheel outwards and allow it to clear the suspension, but the lower ofset will bring the whole wheel edge out more still, so you have to find the right balance. this is a good website for working out where things will sit, but it isnt exact because how low your car is, what size tyres you run and how much camber/caster/toe you run will all effect the fitment quite a lot: www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
  4. nice car, got some pretty big wheels and flared guards on there! i really want 2JZ Turbo power but Aristos just look old to me haha wish the GS300 (jzs160s) came turbo :P
  5. good stuff. just as an FYI for others looking (like i did) as stated those kays were high seeing as the average for oz is somewhere around 15,000 a year (or thats kindof what i work off anyway as thats what i tend to do on average) so that would mean 150,000 is average so 241,000 is like 4 years worth of extra usage !
  6. throw some pics up and i guarantee me or someone will be able to find them for you, google image search is your friend haha looking at this site i cant see an uploader, so i would suggest signing up to a free image hosting website such as Photobucket.com you can upload images to folders you make, and then link them to here by copying the 'image link' that will come up below the picture on the site once you've uploaded the image/s
  7. i dont have a lexus but i might be buying one hence im on here, but i have an S13 silvia, and on my car the ECU is in the passenger side kick panel i would suggest there arent too many places it could be, and to be honest if you dont even know where it is what are you going to do with it to fix the 'problems'? If you want it to run some kind of diagnostic consult program, then as stated i would check the 2 kick panels on both driver and passenger sides (but driver side normally has a fuse box there so no ECU that side normally) otherwise some cars (such as my gf's 99 mazda 626) actually have a consult plug from the ecu in the engine bay up on the firewall, top right as you look into the engine bay. try these locations and have a look around, i am sure you will locate it. if not, try ringing a lexus dealer and asking them the question, i dont know how helpful they are but they may point you in the right direction.
  8. just not many around i dont think. i currently have an S13 Silvia, and had a Sil80 for my 1st car and Skyline in between. the Nissansilvia forums and Skylineaustralia forums are huge, so this one is a Real contrast!! i am looking at GS300s or JZS147 Aristos and so i was looking for something Aus based but the american one seems to be a lot more active, well im not sure if it is the direct amerian equivalent of this forum but it is an american lexus forum:P true though, i think the Lexus demographic is a lot more upmarket. e.g. the GS300 im looking at tomorrow is at LExus of Perth, which is brand new place, marble floors, fancy coffee, classical on-hold music on the phone hahah little do they know if i buy their GS300 im going to make a VIP car ;D haha
  9. i am new to this forum (first post) and dont yet have a Lexus but...coming from an S13 silvia background, i dont get why you wouldnt just get some coilovers? i am not sure waht brands are available for GS cars, but i'm sure you could get some around 1400-1500 which is the usual going rate. coilovers are good because they are a complete replacement unit and if you get a reputable brand then you can be confident that the valving in the shock absorber is up to the task, and often they have multiple damper setting so you can choose how hard/soft you would like it. You also then have the adjustability should you have 16s or 20s, you can select the ride height you want to suit. With many coilover brands these days you can also specify your own spring rates, so they dont necessarily need to be very hard or bouncy. pedders ive found to be pretty useless, so i wouldnt deal with them just as a side note haha
