I obviously fall into this category as have only posted and answered in my original (and only) thread however at the moment, don't feel like I can contribute much more as I'm not yet an owner so not sure of what advice to give anyone.

I did however want to speak to current owners to see what they thought of the car - space mainly - before I purchased it and am grateful for the responses I was given. Especially those who gave a guide as to what I can expect to pay.

I hope to become a regular contributor to the forum but until I own it, I don't feel I have much to offer other than picking peoples brains.

You're fine, you have genuine questions about the cars, how much space for kids and whatnot, which version to get etc, this is what this place is for after all. You're not just asking a simple question "how much $$ did you pay?"

Agreed. It's almost as bad as signing up to a forum, not contributing anything, and then using it to flog off something. And then disappearing. Would be alright if those members then contributed something later, but they don't bother afterwards. And asking for personal info like that, bit dodge! If they're given rough price then that should suffice, obviously they want a copy of the contract to take with them to a dealer and saying "match it".

Mine is due in about 2 months time, might just ask at the dealership then.

Moon roof is rattling now but apparently from reading the forums, the common fix is to lubricate the thing. Let us know how you go after Friday.

I'm getting that too. Do you know what lube I can use? I can't be bothered driving up to a dealer for something this simple. They usually fix it each service, but 15K kays is too long in between and I get noises half way through my service schedule, I tend to open/close it few times each day so lube wears out quickly.

Lexus should fix all rattles. I had a couple of annoying ones too, took it back, they fixed it, now all happy.

There wasn't any resistance to fix it or anything, they were quite accommodating. You shoudl be fine.

hm.. very strange i dont seem to be having any problems with my gps recalibrating itself

V17 is pretty much a updated version of the older map (ie new maps new housings and new streets etc)

ditto for me. never heard of such a thing. I wouldn't even know how to recalibrate it!

There is a way to manually adjust your location, somewhere in the settings, I've seen it before.

Got some bad news for you, looks like your GPS ECU is stuffed. Similar thing happened to my 06 two years ago, but I had it fixed under warranty.

Depends what you're after really. Are you into faster cars or are you happy to have a slower one. To me personally it would be a no brainer, IS350 for sure, if it was available when I bought my IS250, I'd grab that one for sure (I'm planning to in 6 months time anyway). If you don't care so much for power, IS250 will suffice, it's no slug by any means, still has a bit of power, but nothing exciting.

Can't comment on kids bit, I'd imagine kids would be ok in the back, I've had adult passengers in the back for extended periods, and they all said the seats were comfy. Tall passengers had not much leg room though, but that is something irrelevant for kids this young.

My preference would be IS350 Prestige over the IS250 F-Sport, mainly for the engine! :)

Half of my travel is freeway/highway so brings the average down.

Hard to compare between people, everyone drives differently in different environment etc...

I get around 8.8 around town if I baby it, although most times 9.8 is the norm for me and my heavy foot. I don't live/work in the hills though. I got an 06 with about 90K on the odo now.

As a guide to the consequence: If you do have the problem then, at worst, you will have lower fuel economy. A spokesperson for Toyota was quoted as saying that there no risk of the fuel igniting. '"It's not near any source of ignition," she said. "You need quite a bit of fuel and you need an ignition source (for the fuel to light)."'

My Fuel economy is running at 12.8l/100KM.....

Unless they live in an area wth steep hills, and often plant their foot down for the heck of it.

Don't go for Red Stuff, they're suiable for mostly track work, and need to be warmed up for them to work the best. Plus they wear out your rotors a lot quicker. I had reds few years ago on my soarer, that was just my observation. On cold, they worked terrible, however they NEVER faded when pushed hard, gripped hard all the time without fail. Useful for track, but not the street. Depends what you want to do I guess.

I suggest Green Stuff pads. I have them fitted now on the IS, and have been using them over few years now (not the same pads of course!). There is almost zero dust, I wash my car once a month (after about 2000 kays or so) and there is some dust, but only a fraction of what you'd get with oem pads after about 500 kays of driving. THey grip very well too, work well in cold, and do not fade for a long time (eventually they do if you push it hard for a long time). And they're gentler on the rotors than reds.

There is heaps of squeeky noise initially for a about 100-200 kays, but then it goes away and stays silent.

You can burn MP3 but only on a CD, which is a bit crap :(

Any CD burning sofware will do, even the standard windows one.

Folder structures are a good idea, you can't serch by artist or anything like that you would on your ipod.

My 75K service cost $740 (Lexus of Perth) so your quotes sound about right. That included replacement of fuel filter, which was about 130 for the part.

I haven't read the manual, but that doesn't sound right Chris. I seriously doubt the steering would automatically lock if the power steering system failed. That would be a serious safety hazard. Imagine going 100 km/h on the freeway and the power steering fuse blows. I think, like with most power steering systems, you'll lose the power assistance, but steering will most certainly still work!

It's crazy to call them alternatives, they're not in the same class at all, far from it! It's like comparing a VW Jetta to an E class Merc, or a Holden Cruze to a Statesman, it's crazy!

For 35K? Most obvious alternatives for a used IS250 would be the cars it competes against, one would imagine? ;) For that price you can get any of IS250's competitors on the second hand market, A4, 3 series, C class...

How can people name camry/aurion as the alternative for the IS???? They're totally different cars!! FWD vs RWD. Small size vs big family size. Luzury vs bread and butter. And so on.
