  1. rx350 doesnt have torque?

it's pretty got ample of torque for a 3.5L V6

The RX400h is half a sec faster than the 350 from standstill to 100km (7.3 vs 7.8) but the the biggest advantage is in the rolling acceleration where the 400 is a wolf in sheep's clothing. You get max torque and power from the moment you put the foot down and this is something you need to experience the tremendous acceleration and the smoothness of power delivery. No gear huntings, no rev noise. This thing can keep up with a Merc ML500.

What I luv about my 400 is the acceleration when I need it, the fuel economy of 7.8l as a daily runabouts, the silence when it's in elecric mode. Just needs to be extra cautious in shopping carparks coz people dont hear me coming.

  2. Thanks for your reply Lexo.

The concern of replacement batteries is a real one and not an 'if'', as I plan to keep the car for quite a while and don't see myself upgrading any time soon-ish. And, No, I didn't realise the warranty is 8years/160 on the batteries. However, does that also apply to '06 and '07 models, or is that something relatively new? Appologies for all the questions, but I'm quite new to the whole Lexus world ;)

Yes, the warranty applies to all models so check with your Lexus Dealer.

  3. A lot of action in here guys ;) lol

I'm considering buying a GS450h in the new year, is there anything I should be concerned about with this particular model? Anything that you guys have discovered?

The only thing that keeps playing on my mind is the cost of replacement batteries if and when they require it, seeing as I will most likely be purchasing an '07 model. Has anyone experienced this yet or is aware of the situation?

    TIA :D

If the cost of replacing the batteries is a concern, then perhaps you should go with the GS430 or GS300. You do realise the batteries are now warranty for 8 years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.

  4. i've been quoted about 600 bucks for my service..

i just want to know what they actually change, cause personally i think 600 bucks is quite a fair bit, but then again i just would like to know what they change so i can see if i can source things myself and go to my own mechanic..

    is it just

oil filter, brake pads, wiper change, air filter.

$600 sounds about right for a standard 30K service, oil and filters only. 30K should not need new pads nor wiper change. Not this soon anyway.

  5. Have recently fulfilled my dream of driving a Lexus and bought an IS250 Sports Luxury (2007). It has taken some getting used to (the car is more intelligent than I am !!) but it's been great so far. And Lexus service also lives up to its first-rate reputation.

If any of you more experienced Lexus owners have some tips on some do's and don'ts for newbies like me, that would be appreciated.

Looking forward to some enjoyable years ahead and an interesting exchange of views

Welcome to the L'Club Subby :). Can't offer you any advice coz I have a different L but ask away if you have any questions.

  6. Well I think the car could do with a bit of a lift, visually, and it will be some years before I replace it. So if I can get this done for a reasonably outlay I'll have several years of a better looking car. I think it's worthwhile provided I don't have to sell a kidney to achieve it. :)

As a Lexus owner, I no longer have the urge to personalise my vehicle. It is already a beautiful vehicle for what it is. When I was driving toyotas and hondas, I would mod them with all sorts of aftermarket bits eg. altezza lights, seats, grills, steering, buying parts from overseas at all cost. I was passionate about my cars then. I still do but with Lexus, it's all about refinement and luxury. Perhaps I'm just getting older now :).

  7. I notice the latest RXs and a lot of other high end cars have a narrow chrome trim extending all the way around the outer window frame. I'd like to add these to my RX but having trouble finding a source. I've seen kits advertised on Ebay and elsewhere but these always include the pillar post trims, which I don't want. Any ideas on this, or do I need to throw myself on the tender mercies of Lexus of Perth :o ?

    Hi Poisson,

I say why would you bother really!..Gives you something to look forward to upgrading to the next update.

  8. I did a bit of googling and came up with 3 shortlist when mine are due for replacement:

Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport - premium brand, expensive. OEM on BMW M5.

Kumho KL51 Road Venture APT - mixed owner reviews from tirerack.com (quiet vs noisy)

Hankook Ventus AS - not many owner reviews out there but everyone had been positive.

I got a quote for the bridgestone and they were $420/each - 235/55/18. I dont have a price for the other two coz there is still some life left on the current set, but from what I've read,I like the Hankook.

Hope other members can give you their owner experience on what they bought.

Let us know what you ended up getting.

  9. On my car, press and hold the 'unlock' button on the remote automatically opens all windows as well as the sunroof, handy on a hot summer's day to let the hot air out. Does anyone know if it's possible to have the auto window closing programmed? Press and hold the 'Lock' on the remote button triggers the alarm.
