Hey all,
I took my car up to the blue mountains over the easter long weekend, and have flung up a fair bit of mud underneath the car, and in the wheel arches.
I've cleaned what I can off, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a carwash in northern Sydney that can high pressure blast the entire undercarriage/steam clean or the like?
-
as usual excuses...tsk tsk tsk shame on you
come on man
you missed the last 4 meets
i'm never in the country!
i mentioned it to some of the other IS owners at work but they're all older and over the car scene
-
how did i not see this earlier?
will try to come but no guarantees as im moving that weekend
-
they arent clear, they are orange with a thin chrome layer on them so they light up orange but look silver when not lit
as promised
pic on my ride
-
yeah i dont like the front, but i think the back and sides would look pimp with an ings front?
-
I would have taken the umbrella over what I got... a measly two sun hats worth maybe $5 each. Not bad after plonking down nearly $70k on a new car.
And to top it off, after my first service I got a tiny box with 3 chocolates in it. Quite polarising when comparing against other peoples experiences on here.
gotta say, i love those chocolates from lexus chatswood after a service
although i would have preferred a salesman who wasn't a royal cock (not chatswood) over some free stuff
i got a bottle of henschke keyneton estate red in a lexus leather case
was a nice touch at the time as the car was a semi-birthday present to myself courtesy of work, signed for it the day after my bday

the part numbers are the same on the sewell lexus site where i bought it, so i assume so?
just checked and yes they are the same

Have you ordered these parts yet? I'd really like to hear your car once they are on. If you need a hand with installation of them I can assist.
I have the full f-sport intake kit on my '250, if you want to try it on a 350 you're welcome to borrow it

offtopic
but
That would be a serious safety hazard. That reminded me of this:

possibly caused by aftermarket HIDs

just gonna lightly tint the indicators on the rear, as you can see in the pic, the orange bulb still reflects inside
get these
http://cgi.ebay.com....em=110605067147
looks silver/near invisible in the reflector when not lit
problem solved :)
i have some but havent got around to installing my IS-F tails yet
will try and get a pic as soon as i get em all on

well, after debadging the LEXUS and IS250 from the back quite a while ago
i wanted to put the LEXUS on the front lower grill like with the HSV GTS's
but i didnt want to super glue it on, just incase it fell off or if i didnt like it
then i found the power of zip ties
and here u go, tell me what you think of it!
not very good pics, lol, first few i took with my new galaxy s (great phone btw, lol)
hmm not so big a fan, it looks too big to be subtle
if it was smaller and with no other badges like the is200 stuff it'd look ok

i was also gonna tint the front and rear lights but didn't know if it was legal or not. googled it and stumbled across another forum where someone was saying their mate in an IS250 gone done for it so i passed.
i've still got the tints as well, was gonna do it anyway and just cross my fingers. maybe you can do it first and than if a little time passes and you don't get pulled up for it i'll do it as well, lol...
before I bought my IS-F tails last week I was thinking of doing the same
spoke to a colleagues husband who is an assessor for a large insurer that also has a youth brand
told me about a claim he did that ended up being denied as the at fault party stated could not see the guys tail lights light up with the tinting on them
insurer denied the claim stating non roadworthy modifications caused the accident
the kid with the car was a p plater with an otherwise stock s15
scared me away from doing anything other than factory/oem!

Just landed back in Sydney, brought a couple of things back with me from the US :)
Still haven't got the short-shifter installed from my last trip, or the under chassis brace & f-sport springs from the trip before, got to get around to it all soon
-
JohnnyDrama had his mirror replaced after some idiot in our carpark pushed it back 180% and stuffed it, he paid for a replacement assembly and they ended up replacing the whole thing... So idk?

Could have sworn I saw LEX51S you at Pennant Hills the other evening... Turning off from Pennant Hills road towards Cherrybrook
-
Some of these aren't new, but they're all interesting to watch

Basically what lex51s said is spot on! No major dramas and the support that lexus provides is second to none!
Only thing is that the manual box is not the greatest of boxes! Just something to test to make sure youre happy before you commit!
My 1990 pajero feels smoother. I have a new short-shifter and F-Sport clutch here im waiting to get time to have fitted as all reports say it improves feel a lot

Before I got my wheels I was at Taleb looking to buy a new set, the guys there said they supply tyres to Bob Jane down the road
-
Hey OT, this is the pic i took at Bob Jane while waiting for wheel alignment to be done. Tyres are Bob Jane's brand Maxi tyres... 225/40/R18 xxW ( i forgot what the figures are for xx).
Are they gd tyres?
From what i see Bob Jane don't make an 18" tyre in their branded models, I'm guessing you mean Maxxis? What model? You need more information... Google the brand and model name and you might find some reviews.
Another question (probably noobie question as well) is that the headlights arent level when projected on to the wall.. You can see in below pic. I was pretty evenly position against the wall ahead and the wall is flat surface too... Is this normal?
Noticed there are a few white led lights in the cabin at night. one near the sunroof switch, and also another one at both driver and passenger feet. Can they be switched off when driving?
Yup thats normal.
There's a knob to the right of the steering wheel that can dim the interior lights and when it goes down to the minimum range (at least on my 08) it turns them off.

Good to hear... But you need to post up some photos!!!
While I haven't got tints on my car, other guys at work who have IS250's have, and theirs also look a lot darker than legal under certain conditions, while actually being 100% legal. It'll depend a lot on the properties of the film used too.
As for the brake squeal, if it's under warranty, take it in! You'll get a complimentary courtesy car while yours is under the knife so there's no significant inconvenience to you..

Rather than spending 600+ on 3 tyres, I'd rather get new 18" rims and tyres in package. They cost around 1300 at Tempe tyres (sydney). Can you guys tell me what tyre specs will be accepted for 18" wheels? I remembered mechy told me i can go as big as 19 but the width cant exceed 8. I'm not familiar with his terms and am a bit confused by all the tyre specs listed online and tyre catalogue.
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi09_rev4.pdf is handy. If you go anything bigger than what is on the tyre placard, it's a good idea to print that PDF out and keep it in the glovebox with your vehicle manuals. Has saved my ass on my last car with overzealous officers questioning my wheel fitment.
The info you're looking for I think is this: "Wheels up to 26mm wider than the largest optional wheel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the vehicle can be fitted without the need to notify the RTA."
One thing I strongly advise you to check and re-check is the load ratings for the tyres being fitted... The new tyres must meet or exceed the existing load ratings. You don't want a blowout or insurance claim denied for an unroadworthy vehicle!
-
i also remember X-Force doing a remote controlled version of one of their cannon mufflers.. I have flaky internet here so can't check but it might be worthwhile seeing if they sell the valve mechanism as a separate part?
-
I had the A'pexi ECV on my Cappuccino too, and it worked pretty well.... Can't remember where I got it from, possibly from Nengun?
