we need to get some in put and some dierection so we can get this happening whats your views guys

I really like the last one you posted or mine loc11.gif the best. We should filter down maybe but then again - what about others? What do others think about these projects? Admins? Mods? Your opinions, suggestions.

Come on guys - some input like LEX51S says. Otherwise we can choose generic styles and go with them. I'm opting for the above 2 :)

  2. Hello,

Has anyone seen the last week's episode of Top Gear? I'm referring to the proper 2009/2010 Top Gear episodes aired in UK on BBC/BBC HD, not the old school stuff from Australia. Hammond was testing the LFA. Anyone to take on his thoughts and review?

I strongly believe he is correct - it is fast, it is a great piece of engineering with all the little and big things making it something really special but at the end of the day - it is a Lexus unfortunately and if I had to spend ~$750 k AUD on a car, it would be a Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni Edition or a "normal" one (then, if I couldn't get one... would be a Ferrari 599 or 458). I like the LFA. Personally I think it is a massive technology achievement but I simply cannot justify its' price. Fair enough - Lexus is making it limited with the quantity of them built and the price but still... I am not convinced with that price tag.

Anyone to put their thoughts on the subject?

  3. Hi again can anyone tell me what their experiences are with CD players do I forget about trying to fix or look at second hand stacker.

    Thanks

    Hello,

This doesn't look amateur but also is rubbishing the forum with unnecessary threads so please be so kind to others and simply refresh the old thread by adding a reply to it. People have seen the previous one, there is no need to start this one.

    Anyway,

Maybe try this thread and Google too. Looks like people have problems due to:

    • moisture in the boot -> moisture in the stacker
    • physical damage
    • playing cd-r discs, not the original ones

    etc.

Would suggest looking at a 2nd hand stacker or a new cd player that supports mp3/dvd discs.

  4. I've seen the newest satnav screen, they do look great! But I don't think map version upgrade will change anything. It does contain firmware update data, but the update is not that extreme, that it will change the look of it. Not sure if you've ever seen IS300's satnav, or even RX330's satnav screens, but they are a bit more old school, more pixelated than the ones we got, and upgrading to a newer map DVD doesn't change them at all. Going by that, I doubt it that you can change this one either. It will most likely sit embedded within the satnav ECU. Of course I could be wrong, but going by past experience with previous lexus satnav updates, it's probably the same deal.

Well, in the new RX series that satnav exists too. Not sure Mate, not sure if it can or can't be upgraded. I will check with my dealer. Thanks for the info on older navs anyway, much appreciated.

  5. No track-racing insurance... ouch, there goes 150 grand. Such a beautiful and powerful car... damn. I pushed the IS-F around the Sandown few months ago but it was within reasonable limits.

    Lap times??

None, it was a Lexus Drive Day and they did not record individual times however was told "not bad for a person that doesn't do it every day" by a non-Lexus affiliated track official, 220km/h on home straight was the fastest from people participating in it (only few people and I was one of them). Lexus hired race driver was doing 230km/h there.

  6. Suggesting a GFX kit, window tint, HID lights and IS-F rear lights. No extra mods, really, there is no need to IMO. The Mazda you owned (ouch with the accident, hope you're OK!) looks good but... it is a Mazda, not a Lexus. It is just my personal preference and I don't want to start another flame-war here about if you should transform it into F&F car or not. If you want to rice-up your car, get a rice-up-spec car, not a Lexus as it starts looking a bit cheap with those funny mods (please stay away from Supercheap Auto blue bulbs LOL). Anyway... my 5c worth, do whatever you feel like, we won't try to stop you even if you put Playboy bunny seat covers on it with pink neon lights and a big "cock" sticker on the back windshield (but some may say THEY DON'T KNOW YOU LOL). The wheels look good - 18''? Not my cup of tea, spoiling the quality of ride but it may suit others.

Good luck with mods and I hope to get a reply to my PM ;)

  7. Hi All,

My car is Nov 2008 built, model My09 (blinkers in mirrors, new lights, slightly changed interior etc.), came with GPS Ver14 originally. I upgraded it to Ver15 (dvd) but... few months ago I drove IS250C. While I was playing around with it, I checked the satnav and it had different graphics to mine. I thought it was the IS250C special version so it looks better in direct sun. Fair enough... just few minutes ago I was browsing around different IS250s on carsales and I've noticed a My10 IS250 with a different looks on the screen. Buttons seem sharper, with surrounding edges on them. It is exactly the same look as I experienced on the IS250C. Question - if this is the Ver15 map, how can I upgrade the actual software so it looks this way, rather than the *older* (blueish/goldish button shadows) version? I know that My10 IS250 has got few changes like USB connector, revised MR switch but... what about the software? Is there a way of upgrading it via the DVD? If so - can someone with a brand new IS250 My10 help out? I'm sure there would be more people for this upgrade option than me only.

In case I could help - I have the Ver15 dvd map if anyone needs it.

    Thank you in advance :)

  8. to autolock in drive and autounlock in park - it needs to be done with the lexus IT machine they plug into under your dash. Takes 3 seconds - the guy told me it isnt possible doing it by yourself

Strange, I've set up mine so that when I change gear from PARK to any other it locks the doors, then unlocks when putting back to PARK. When I unlock the doors in DRIVE position though, the car locks them back as soon as the speed is over ~25km/h. If you want to have it set up this way - it is all in the manual, no special IT machine required unless we are talking about 2 different options here.

  9. Speaking of cruise controllers gone wild - It was all over yesterdays news with a Ford Explorer cruise controller jamed at 100km/h.

The ironic thing is the guy's name is "Chase"

Not a good situation to be in...

    http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/cruise-...91215-kuk8.html

sounds like attention seeking to me. what on earth would stop him turning off the igntion? just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm with you on that Aircon, somehow I don't believe it at all, but then again - Ford, say no more LOL.

  10. I am the proud new owner of a IS250. Generally I am satisfied with the car with the exception of the audio system. My speakers appear to have a buzz. i have tried various things such as turning down the base.

I am seriously considering installing a kick ass stereo sytem.

I would like to know if any forum members have gone down this pathh and whether they have any advice.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Get the system looked at by a pro audio shop or Lexus directly.

The Mark Levinson 14-speaker audio system is a treat to listen to so I wouldn't touch it at all unless you're after bigger "bang" from the whole set but the sound clarity is very good. If you have 13 speaker system (Pioneer I believe, but may be wrong) - still sounds OK. Either way - get it looked at by someone who knows what they're doing, otherwise you may be spending money on a new system when it is not required. The buzzing noise may come from different sources.

Let us know how you go anyway.

  11. I strongly believe you're going too far now but hey - it is your car and your joy and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do ours ;)

I'm just a bit concerned that in fact - you're too young for it. I know you like it but there are some unwritten rules among tuners - don't touch certain cars, only modify them in a special way that the original image is still there.

I'll shoot with some examples now:

    1) Sports exhaust? Hmmm...

    2) Those 19'' wheels...

    3) The mesh grill...yeahhhhNO.

    ^

The above set - WRX/EVO looks, cheap, sport, not comfy, not Lexus-worthy image. Young bloke that damaged the look of a very damn good looking car. Just another car owned by a p-plater <- This is what I (and other people) would say. Some females may drop their g-stros when they see your car though LOL.

    1) GFX kit - nice soft looking mod

    2) 18'' titanium (!) BBS wheels - rich and class

    3) Stock grill (the Lexus logo is simply beautiful)

    ^

This is more like it, it doesn't spoil the looks of the car, it adds more class to it. It looks rich.

So the verdict is: make your Lexus stand out from the crowd rich and classy way, don't make it look cheap and childish.

Again - don't mean to sound too negative and do not take it the wrong way please. This forum can only recommend, can't force you to do things. We share opinions / suggestions, we don't command others.
