  1. Hello, I am a new member to the forum, which I found while trying to find a solution to accessing the rear camera. I have followed the above directions and am able to access the secret menu; however, the button "CAMERA CHECK" is disabled.

    My details are:

    2007 IS250 AWD

Rear camera works as normal when in reverse

I am in the US-- would this be a reason? I have searched but it seems the only detailed info on the secret menus or camera hacks is on this forum. However, this forum is great and it seems a great community. As I have just gotten the vehicle last week, I am eager to dig through this forum and discover new possibilities with the IS250.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Nem,

It's been a while since I played around with this feature, and I'm nowhere near my car right now. But I vaguely recall encountering the same issue.

If the engine is switched off, make sure you start it before accessing the menu. If the engine is already running, try changing into reverse gear.

  2. Im wanting the give my car the 'once over' after it comes back from the panel beaters (just a minor bingle - idiot colleague hit my stationary car whilst parking in my work car park!)....I've been a big fan of Meguiars through reputation and the leather products and the waterless car wash products I use from them. I want to do a very light 'cut' (just to remove the 'spider webbing' - my car is 6 years old, always garaged but over the years has got that typical lightly scratched/swirly look now).

What do you all recommend from Meguiars as an 'all-in-one' polish/wax with a light (#1) cut needed? Would the NXT 2.0 wax discussed here give me the 'all-in-one' result (a very light cut and final shine?)

I believe smash repairers will expect you to wait at least two weeks for the spray paint to fully cure, before waxing.

After that time, try using Meguiar's COLORx. Gold Class, NXT 2.0 and Ultimate waxes do not contain microabrasive or chemical properties that will "cut" the paint, whereas COLORx is a "cut-and-wax" formula that is supposed to remove light scratches.

  3. Prices can vary significantly, as freight is a significant component and the cost per unit weight drops, the more orders I receive. Exchange rates also affect costs, as does any sale promotions.

For the Gold Class wash - it comes in one US gallon (3.79 L) bottles, so it's too heavy to ship from the US. You're best checking out Supercheap Auto ($24.88 online) or Repco (10% off with auto club discount).

For the NXT 2.0 wax - at current exchange rates, and assuming the same size order that I had last time, I would expect the price to be around $31 (normally around $45). But this price could vary as much as 20% depending on the above factors.

  4. To avoid any confusion ...

If you need some wax soon, keep an eye out on this thread, as I'll be ordering some from the States soon (and plan to deliver to Brisbane for free):

I mean to say, while shipping costs between the US and Sydney will be passed onto buyers, I won't charge anything to bring the goods up from Sydney to Brisbane. Hopefully, I didn't mislead anyone.

  5. Atlantis is pretty much on the money.

You can take your pick with the Meguiar's car washes, although Gold Class suds a little better than others and this might make things a tad faster.

There's no set rule for the frequency of using a clay bar - you only need to use a clay bar kit whenever you feel the surface is too rough for your liking.

NXT2 does a good job, but I find that Ultimate Liquid Wax goes on and wipes off easier.

If you really don't have much time at all, consider the Ultimate Wash N Wax, with wax infused into the wash liquid. I've never used this new product - and probably never will - but it might help if you never get the chance to wax after washing.

For a "prescription" that's tailored to your needs, try this site: http://www.meguiars.com.au/rx-paint-care/

  6. Are you able to get stuff from the pro range (ie. machine application liquids in the tan coloured bottles)?

I'm keen on a tonne of Quick Detailer as well. Always need it for claying.

I can get anything in the Meguiar's range, except:

    • Those that aren't sold in the US (there are actually some things produced especially for the Australian market, such as the lambswool mitt and green microfibre glass cloth); and
    • Those that would be classed as dangerous goods and can't be flown to Australia. That rules out aerosols and cleaners marked as corrosive.

Items which are relatively low in price, but heavy, are best purchased in Australia (if sold here). That includes car wash liquids, most window cleaners and bulk detailing . Even if the US sold such low-priced items for 40-50% less, the cost of shipment would mean that you'd pay less from a local shop.

Items which are small but pricey are best purchased from the US, including waxes, rubbing compounds, specialist cleaners and especially cleaning accessories (e.g. microfibre towels).

So yes, I can get the liquids in the tan coloured bottles. But I'd get the big detailing bottles locally - when there isn't a sale, Repco offers 10% off to NRMA members (that's if they sell it).

  7. Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax here too.

A number of Meguiar's users have said that the NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 has a brighter finish on light-coloured cars, but ULW wins hands down on application (doesn't dry white on black plastic), durability and beading.

If you need some wax soon, keep an eye out on this thread, as I'll be ordering some from the States soon (and plan to deliver to Brisbane for free):

  8. There's a few ways of doing it. More recently, the simplest way is:

    1. When replying to a thread, don't use the "Reply to this topic" box at the bottom of the Webpage. Instead, click on the More Reply Options button. You will be taken to a new page where the reply box will appear near the top of the page.

    2. Just below the reply box, click the Choose Files... button. A dialog box will open, where you can select one or more files to upload.

    3. The files you choose will be uploaded and will appear as thumbnails in your reply.

  9. DATE FOR LAST ORDERS BROUGHT FORWARD to take advantage of 15% off sale.

ORDERS NOW BEING TAKEN - ORDERS CLOSE 23 MAY

I'm now taking orders from Club members for an order I'll place with Meguiar's in the US on 24 May.

    How much can I save?

Prices can vary significantly, as freight is a significant component and the cost per unit weight drops, the more orders I receive. Exchange rates also affect costs, as does any sale promotions.

Although the A$/US$ exchange rate isn't currently as good as it once was, you can still expect to save $$ on a range of Meguiar's detailing products as part of a group buy. You'll pay a proportion of the ground freight across the US, and air freight to Australia. To minimise delivery costs, I can arrange delivery in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane for no additional charge.

Sydney residents: Pick up at a Club meet (whenever that is, but no sooner than second half of June), or pick-up/delivery in Sydney CBD and Lower North Shore between North Sydney and Epping in second half of June

Melbourne residents: Pick-up/delivery by arrangement - sometime in first half of July

Brisbane residents: Pick-up/delivery in CBD - probably within 2 weeks of the order reaching Australia

The best bargains are with those products that are relatively light but expensive; for example, Meguiar's Ultimate Wax. Those that are heavy but relatively cheap - for example, car wash - are best bought in Australia. Before I confirm your order, I'll let you know whether it's worth your while.

Note: I don't make any profit from this; it's something I like to do exclusively for Club members.

    What products can I get?

Most Meguiar's products available in Australia (consumer and professional range), except for dangerous goods (generally corrosive cleaning goods like harsh wheel cleaners, and aerosols). You can also get some products that aren't available in Australia, such as their new dust-repelling glass cleaner, headlight protectant and Ultimate Wax in paste form.

    How do I order?

    PM me!
