  1. There's a write up on the IS350 in the Motoring section in the WA paper. "Champagne pace on a beer budget"

    Summary: IS350 kicks ass :)

    Audi A4 3.2 FSI Quyattro 6.4s 0-100 = $87,000

    S4 5.1 sec = $115,000

    Mercedes C300 = 7.2sec = $85,900

    C63 AMG 4.8sec $144.365

    IS 350: 0-100 5.6sec (matches BMW 335i M sport but $46,000 cheaper), 9.4L / 100km

    IS 350 price range: 233kW $64,800 Prestige - $81,300 Sports Luxury

    IS 250 price range: 153kW - $55,800 - $76,000

    IS 250C: $79,000 - $99,900

  2. If memory serves me, there's a chart in the back of the owners manual that has suggested oil viscosities for certain operating temperatures. As a base mark, it'd probably be best to go for the highest quality oil you can afford in the range that is recommended for you.

As for qualities of oil, there's a wealth of info on the Bob is the Oil Guy forums including KV/shearing resistance info which may be what you're looking for.

thanks. did have a look at the owners manual.

    SAE 5W - 30 was recommended.

According to the Mobil website: "Mobil 1 is chosen for factory fill by more auto manufacturers than any other oil brand in the world"

Buy a big bottle and ask Lexus service or your mechanic to use it. Saves some $ that way during servicing.

  3. Hi all

I was wondering what the BEST motor oil to use for a 2007 Lexus IS250 that's done 36,000km's.

This is for Perth temperatures that range 0 - 50 Celcius (cold winters morning to a hot summer day under the sun)

I normally drive long stretches at a time instead of city start-stop traffic.

Recommendations about specific manufacturer + type would be great eg. "Mobil 1 5W-30"

    Thanks!

    Adrian

  4. I recently got my IS250 2nd hand from the dealership. I noticed there wasn't a huge price difference between the Prestige + Sports Luxury models especially in the 2006/7 models that you're after. My advise would be to pay just a bit more and get the sports luxury if you're planning to keep the car long term. That's what I did and I have no regrets. Nicer interior so nicer drive.

If you go in there without emotion and willing to wait, you'll find the car you're happy with eventually! Happy hunting!

  5. but with our new IS250, i've been happily listening to CD's and with the AUX connection, i have my itouch plugged in most of the time

oh, and congrats on the ride man, your not gonna regret it, lol

When you said "CD's" is that both CD-R and CD-RW??

Yeah with the AUX connection, I just figured it's cheaper to buy a MP3 player that and plug it in. A lot cheaper than paying Lexus $700 to fix the problem!! Was gonna do that depending on the response I got here.

    Thanks for the reply! Appreciated!

  6. Finally picked up a 2007 IS 250 Sports Luxury today. Fantastic ride and loving it especially the sound proofing.

Previously my 2005 RX330 had problems playing CD-R's. The problem got so bad that it in the end, it flashed an error message and we couldn't get the disc out!! Since then, I've never put in another CD-R.

According to the car manual, the IS250 is ok to play CD-R and CD-RW's. However I'm a bit worried after my previous experience.

Question: Has anyone experienced or heard of a 2007 IS250 user having problems with CD-R CD-RW's?

All I need to see is "I've had no problems at all" or "if you get an error message, it's covered by Lexus warranty"

    Thanks!

  7. Hi all.

Just joined today. I'm in Perth. Just got an 2007 IS 250 Sports Luxury from the dealer. Hoping to pick up this Wednesday. First order of business would be to trying to get a MP3 player that I can control from my steering wheel. Suggestions are most welcome.

Also wondering if any members out there who have a 2007 IS 250 Sports Luxury owners have problems with their CD players playing CD-R or CD-RW's. My RX330 didn't like them.

    Thanks in advance.
