  1. I use Melbourne Lexus for my F and Jamie and the guys are pretty good. The only thing I have like from the beginning has been a slight rattle in my car which they have never fixed, even Lexus Aust did not fix (at least that is what they told me).

As I say, for services I have never had an issue always done on time or before and given a loaner, they have found things and replaced under warranty without me noticing. Always request a CT for a contrast ;-)

  2. I think if you are looking for something to cut understeer at the track you should look for a dedicated balance F/R track wheel tyre set.

IMHO you are always going to get understeer with such a difference with grip front and rear.

Others in the US are running 285 F/R I think, this I am sure will fix what you would call understeer with the 225 / 255 combo.

  3. The F got some new tyres yesterday, ended up with Michelin PSS OEM sizes front and rear so 225 and 255. The ADVANs run a wider offset so thought I would just stick with the original size.

Also ended up buying local as there was only just over $300.00 between grey import and Australian supplied.

Thanks to Chris and Evans at Tyrepower North Melbourne.

Early days but man the PSS seem to ride a lot better and grip a lot better than the Yokis :-)

  4. For me, the biggest draw was the LSD. Every performance vehicle must have a LSD IMHO - the electronic braking system just doesn't cut it.

The softer suspension is the icing on the cake. It depends on what you want to do with your ISF - if you're not planning to track it then it won't really make a huge difference.

You know that the McLaren MP4-12 doesn't have a mechanical LSD?

Although I agree with you. I have a 2008 having bought mainly with focus and condition and colour combination I really pine for a LSD. I suppose with the money saved a OS Giken can be bought and fitted.

Yep it doesn't have a LSD and I am sure it is a rocket but have you ever seen some of those reviews where they have tried to drift the car!!!! The super computer just wont have it.

By the way the LSD come in on the 2010 not 2011, the last of the old dash without LED lights or soft suspension.

For me I wasn't going to buy a 400 BHP rear drive car without a LSD. My previous car was a single wheeler and I missed the sideways action ;)

  5. Hey Guys,

Thank you all for your input - my issue is that Joey Z is 3k from Chatswood + install. When you can get ISS Forged system for $1700 + shipping (Another $470). The thing i like about the ISS Forged system is i can get rid of the fake quad tips as well (which i cant stand about the car)

    They sound good too :

Malibu, where are you based mate, would love to hear your car I am in North Sydney.

Can you tell me who quoted you on the ISS forged system?

I know it is not as cheap as importing and fitting yourself but to be honest that is not too bad, think about it $1,700 for the exhaust + $470 for freight + $50 to clear + 10% GST = $2,442.00 (landed) + Install and you have to think they need to make a little money. Oh yes I guess they might get a discount from the OEM supplier but still less than $600.00 to have installed at a Stealer is a given.

    My 2c.

Plus if there are any issues it is Chatswood's issues. If you need to save the extra coin for something else import yourself but simplicity, piece of mind and a no worries situation it is not so big $600.00.

And I am the biggest tight ass out there always looking to save a buck but when you really add things up, there is not a super gap. You are not paying double the price landed (It's the freight that gets you).

  6. While I don't have an IS-F, I've still had the unfortunate displeasure of putting up with all these rattles and squeaks in my '11 IS350 F Sport.

It's got to the point now where I have just bought another car and will look at selling the IS because I'm totally over it.

I've had the drivers door seal rattle and the ONLY way it can be fixed (and its only temporary) is to lube the seal with silicone spray/tyre shine (wtf!?).. Not something you should have to be doing regularly on a ONE YEAR OLD car that cost in excess of $80k!

As I said, it's a temporary fix and as soon as I wash the car and dry it/wipe out the door jambs and seals - it obviously removes the lubricant and the rattle comes back instantly.

It also disappears in the window is dropped slightly.

    Pathetic IMO.

Dash rattles - where do I start!? The RH outer air vent area rattles and drives me insane every single time I drive the car. It's only a very feint rattle (similar to static in a speaker etc) but in such a refined cabin - is easily heard. Car has been back 5-6 times for this issue alone with the entire dash being removed last time (which annoyed me no end) and not making any improvement what-so-ever.

I also had an insanely irritating squeak coming from the dash panel above the instrument cluster on hot days. Sounded exactly the same as two blocks of polystyrene foam being rubbed together constantly. Obviously something was expending with the heat from within the dash causing the problem.

I once had to drive 3 hours listening to it constantly (was heard even with the ML sound system set to volume of 45) and was ready to write it off! Captured it on my phone and took it straight to the dealer principal/manager. They had the car for almost 2 weeks and managed to rectify the issue - being a lack of insulation between the instrument cluster and the dash pad or something.

Sunroof creaks and rattles in the tilt-up position (the usual position I like it to be in) - not sure if this is wind deflector related or the seal itself rubbing on the roof sheetmetal. So just keep the thing closed now - well worth the $2,500 extra at time of purchase - NOT!

Also have static type rattles from the B pillar area on coarse chip bitumen and a slight rattle from the rear parcel shelf area..

I love my IS, it's a great looking car and has so much packed in to it for the price - but the interior is absolutely crap IMO. The only thing I will give it is that it's a car that's virtually 7+ years old in design so that can be used as an excuse as to why the interior is dated/lacking in build quality.

The dealer has been fantastic, I've never been without a car or inconvenienced because of it - they've always picked my car up and delivered it (which is handy because its a 450km round trip to my dealer) and I can't fault their service at all - but in a car that costs as much as it does, carrying claims (self made claims) that its one of the best built car in its class is just garbage and shouldn't be something you should have to deal with.

I'm hoping the next IS is faultless in these areas because I really want to upgrade to one of those and I won't be happy if I go through all this again!

Man that does not sound too good.

While it has really pissed me off with the little squeak and high frequency rattle, I am living with it, I am not about to sell a great car because of it.

You mentioned it but one of the main reason for some rattles etc and that is the rest of the cabin is so quiet.

I guess the biggest thing with my small rattles and squeaks is no matter how many times I took it back they never fixed it!!!!

The door seal squeaks, other brand have this issue (BMW I know as I had it) model door seals I guess but the high frequency rattle vibration at the B pillar they have not been able to fix. It is only a small area and I thought they would be able to pinpoint and resolve but never to be the case. To be honest sometime I thought they just washed by car parked it and called later for me to pick it up. I am sure this was not the case but there were times I pulled out of the dealers driveway and the rattle was still there.

As I have said in the past the service staff have been great, but I guess the true show of greatness would have been for LEXUS to fix the simple problems. I am up for a new car next year and if it wasn't for the rattles and squeaks I am sure I would have just brought another ISF (Black hopefully) but I keep thinking + $100K and I still get annoyed.

Anyhow, we could go on an on about it but I gave up about a year ago and thought I would just drive the thing. LOL

  7. Went for a spin in Malibus car- what a noise! the car is now booked in. BTW the headers have arrived, i was watching the owner of lexus bearing the plates M3 Killa have his installed headers installed as well as a LSD - should be fun!

Yeah thanks bud, picked it up today , Goes like stink.! Apparently the LSD centres they ordered us were suited to IS350 as the Diff housing for the ISF is WAYYYY bigger ..

So only got the headers.! they sound horn!

Next step is to dyno it

So that is Headers with the already fitting JoeZ?

What was the price for the headers fitted?

Yeah , JoeZ, and headers, Also got the Icode intake and a Toms filter,.

Hope to Dyno it this week and will post a graph hopefully.

Price was $2800, Labour was bout 6 hours worth .

Its a bit loud, but you can def feel the extra power... i think once the ECU learns the G O then it might be a little better.

Am keen to find out if the NOVEL tune will work or will the ECU relearn over time.

These headers are def worth it if power is the main goal... if its your daily, then you may find it a bit loud, but after you see the factory headers, you will see why these headers make such a difference.!

    No CATS?

  9. OK, my local dealer has come through with a rotor so you can all stop sending me help LOL

Is anyone else interested in this option of a two piece rotor? TBH my reason for asking is selfish as we could share the engineering costs. Or I guess anyone can wait until I do it and it will be done for future people.

Anyhow, just trying to decide on if to give the green light and blow some coin on them.

  10. Jamie the service manager is pretty good and has looked after me where possible. They always wash and vacuum the car and I think sometimes I have even got some goodies (chocolates) on picking up car from service.

I have yet to do my first service, there is another just under 10,000 km left that of which I would care to predict some time next year for the servicing as I hardly drive the car.

Hmm, is that the same Jamie at the very same Melbourne City Lexus? If so, I hope he gives me a call tomorrow and give me some good news about my second key replacement, because its been 4.5 weeks since I bought an ex-demonstrator from that dealership. I was told that some one who drove it last at their dealership as a company vehicle lost the second key.

Blackburn is the closest dealership, but since I bought it from Melbourne City Lexus, I would probably assume that I would have to bring it back there?

I would think the same Jamie (service Manager) there are two Roberts as service advisors.
