  1. I've had a stack of car including a modified R32 GTR and the IS F was a great compromise for me. I sold my R32 GTR and FG Falcon XR6 Turbo daily to buy the IS F. I also have an old Dodge so maintenance and the desire to modify the Falcon/Dodge/GTR as well was just getting ridiculous.

It's a good combination of the fun and I can just stick it in auto and drive relaxed (aside from the somewhat giggly ride). The IS350 would be even better at the latter while still being a fun and quick car.

  2. Great thread. The car looks awesome.

I really like the stock wheels but the offset frustrates me. Lowering the car seems to have helped with how big they are, they look great on your car.

Can I ask what the go is with a lot of people blackening the chrome around the windows is about? It still leaves a fair bit of chrome/polished finish on the car (grill, headlights on early cars - my biggest styling gripe, rims, badging, etc).

  3. You can lease both new and used. Depends if you want new that bad that you're prepared to cop the depreciation. Some people just have to have new, while others would never buy new (me, especially in this country). I'm just happy people do buy new so I can buy a couple of years later!

Love this preview, heaps of good info:

  4. I also think that given these (and other) cars are far too expensive in Australia, it makes our expectations higher than perhaps they should be...

Good luck with it Samsung001, I hope you get some good news. I know how frustrating it can be.

I took a big hit and let it go for $54,000 :(

I haven't replaced it as yet... I've got a current model BT50 dual cab as a second vehicle for work etc. that I'm just using full time that I only bought last year too.

I'm waiting for a couple of new vehicles to be released before I decide if or what I'll replace it with.

Thinking about the new IS350 F Sport, the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG or the A45 AMG. Or I possibly may sell my work ute and get a Land Cruiser Sahara and just have one vehicle. I haven't decided as yet and I won't be ready to buy until this time next year.

Have you tried calling Lexus Australia (the customer service/relations) to let them know of your dissatisfaction?

The CLA 45 AMG looks epic good.

  5. It allows Lexus to build and sell the cars for less thanks to scale. It's what has always been done since the brand started with the LS400, with the German rivals even having air conditioning as an option. As usual, the Japanese really cleaned up the market.

We just have a problem where the engines/transmissions are limited on choice; under-powered and/or heavy on fuel. Slipping another two or three engines and another transmission won't dilute the "packaged luxury" of Lexus. It will only benefit the consumer. I doubt we will see it this life cycle of the IS though.

I think Lexus might well have BMW pipped with driving dynamics this time, if the GS vs 5 series is anything to go by.
