You are joking where are you buying a $40 filter. Just check eBay or any store including Toyota for a filter $ 24 .75 GENUINE. Bring it to me I,ll do it for $200 LOL And no its not "rebranded Mobil1 its what ever they get a good deal from oil company's at the time, get your own oil and filter and take it to a GOOD mechanic shop for stuffs sake I am a HONEST mechanic, it is a basic V6 Toyota engine after all....
Most dealership service depts. buy Castrol in bulk and service your car with semi synthetic oil.Only if you ask and pay more do you get full synthetic.
I change the oil and filter myself in between 12 mth.services. it's dead easy, just need the filter removal tool that you can buy on ebay for $6.

My driving habits fall under 'severe'? How does that work, I barely drive the thing mate 😄
I know it sounds strange so i'd suggest you talk to whoever services your car and see what they think.
Changing oil and filter every 6 mths.is cheap insurance particularly if you plan to keep the car a while. I've never heard of engine damage from too frequent oil and filter changes.
-
Hmmm, never heard that too frequent oil changes can harm an engine???
If you look in your service manual I'm sure it says for a car being driven under severe operating conditions, which i believe yours is they recommend 6 month oil and filter changes.

Dealer i go to for service(Lexus of Sutherland) use 10W30 semi synthetic(Castrol) or you can pay extra for 5W40 full synthetic. So based on that when i book my car in for a service I've been supplying my own 5W30 full synthetic oil.Been using either Castrol Edge or Nulon. Due to the kms.you do i'd change the engine oil every 6 mths. instead of every 12.

Hey guys,
First post so go ez on me. Recently bought a 2006 is250. Runs well but have noticed a few issues. Front brake pads (possibly rotors) need replacing, windscreen wiper and carbon build up are main issues. The following are the parts I have thought about purchasing:
Remsa ceramic pads
RDA Rotor
Valvoline MAF Mass Air Flow Throttle Body Cleaner Spray Professional Series
Unsure of windscreen wiper. Anyone had experience with these products? Feedback will be highly appreciated!
Cheers
For rotors i'd get DBA part no.2726E
For pads i'd get QFM HPX not sure of part no.Same pad fit Toyota Kluger i think.Remsa are good but bit aggressive on rotors Ive found.
The above available from these guys. gslrallysport.com
As bazzle suggested Subaru upper cylinder cleaner.
For wiper blades just go to Repco.
-
As bazzle said get a second opinion.A transmission flush may help.
If the transmission is on the way out pm Danny here.He may be able to help with a 2nd hand one.

This is good information for ALL Lexus owners. Can anyone recommend a workshop in Sutherland shire (Sydney)that can perform this?
Danny is there anyone you can recommend?
Thanks.
-
Hi.
I get mine serviced at Lexus of Sutherland.Good service reasonable price.I always supply the engine oil 5W30 full synthetic.engine takes approx.,6.3 litres.
Here's a few quotes from mechanics in your area. Not sure what they're like.

Try Autoglym glass polish.Fixed my wipers skipping/grabbing on the screen.Think it's just an accumulation of road grime diesel etc.particularly if it hasn't rained for a while.
-
^^^^As above.ilv1004 s is right.Happened to me a few times with different cars over the years changing batteries etc.lower than normal idle even to the point of almost stalling.it's a bit unnerving when it happens the first time.
-
T2s would be good for your car.Any pad would be better than the stock pads. They bite well but the dust they produce is terrible.
-
DBA rotors and QFM HPX pads.Good street combo and nice progressive pad bite.Make sure you get DBA street series rotors with En-shield(so the hubs don't rust)

I'm getting the RE003's tomorrow, according to Franky X they're a better tyre and I found they're cheaper than the originals at Bob Jane Prahran, if you're in Melbourne.
I'm in Sydney. How much are the RE003 fronts.I can get Michelin PS3s for $225 each.

That's a staggered fit.I have the same.I need to replace the fronts. Not sure to go with the factory tyres or get something else.

majority of the time i just in traffic commuting to work so yeh haha
I'm due for front tyres same size as yours water.$190 seems like a good deal, what are the Sport Maxx like?

I moved up to 235/40R18 on my fronts without any issues on stock F-Sport rims (8") using Bridgestone RE003s. Only comment is the tyre sits flush with the rim so very little rim protection.
I too need to replace my front tyres. So no rubbing with 235/40/18?Even on full lock?225/40/18 seems to offer next to no rim protection so hoping 235 will offer bit more rim protection as i've already kerbed one of the rims a bit.

I'd also like to know as well please.

I'd recommend an upper cylinder and throttle body clean.Easy to do.

I know this is slightly off topic but what do you think of this GS300 below?
https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Lexus-GS300-2005/OAG-AD-12213962
I know it's slower, bigger (Roomier inside) and older then the IS350 but they are cheaper and still decent performance with the same or even more features. Can anyone give me their thoughts on this because I think they are great value considering it was once worth $110k brand new!!
Again seems price is too high.Redbook value below.
I realise this is only a guide but the difference is quite a bit!

Approx. 6 months ago bought a 2017 IS200t.great car but i find the stop/start annoying.Wondering if there's a way to switch it off via the centre console switch without it resetting to default on when car is switched off and restarted.
Thanks Tony
