Auto to Manual Conversion
Howdy all. My daughter is taking after her father, and is a car lover. She has an IS250 which is currently auto, and will be converting to manual. This is a project we will be undertaking together. Im no stranger to complex auto mechanical works, so have no issues with the hardware components, but the electrical / computer bits I need a little help with. So far we have the following components. Manual ECU (with key) Manual Gearbox Brake pedal assembly (still need clutch pedal) Handbrake assembly Center console to suit manual selector hydraulic lines Slave Cylinder (still need master) Tailshaft On top of that I’m guessing there will need to be some electrical work required. I’m no stranger to that either (the doing bit), and am very capable with wiring and soldering, but understanding WHAT to do is a problem for me. - I believe there is an auto power source module in the car now. It’s been suggested that whilst this will work, this is what controls things like the Brake being pushed to start (in an auto), as opposed to the clutch (in a manual). If anyone has any insights here that would be great. - I believe there are some mods that need doing to the cluster wiring harness, and potentially the auto wiring harness. Does anyone have specifics on that? I also read in another forum there needs to be a new marriage between the new manual ECU we have, and the power source module. I have techstream which may or may not be needed for that, but some more specifics on what needs doing here would be appreciated if anyone knows.? I know there are impacts to things like cruise control and clutch push to start…..these will be secondary to getting the car functional. Thanks folks. Any guidance / input would be much appreciated!! Thanks. -
