Hi Guys,

I have a 2008 is250 and at idle (especially in traffic) I find that the radiator/engine fan comes on for about 10 seconds (and is quite loud) and then turns off. I have found this particularly when parking the car (at low speeds). Is this normal? If not, would I have to get anything looked at? =/

Any help would be appreciated! :)

I think it is normal, mine is the same. The fans are pretty noisy, and sometimes the bearings give up. You'll know when the bearing is gone because the noise is unbearable.

its normal, cos the IS has high compression ratio of 12:1 which means it heats up quite easily due to high pressure direct injection, this cos engine to heat up quite easily

I have a scangauge on my dashboard and when the water temp hits above 92 degrees, the fan turns on until it drops below 90ish.....

Mine either, can hear it clearly from the inside, I guess it's normal at least by now...lol

Had the same problem, read somewhere else in this forum about using WD40 to spray the belts - did liberal and indiscriminate spraying on the weekend and the car is whisper quiet once again !!!

its normal. it is also your aircon trying to climate control your cabin as well as water temp.
