Advice On Rs200 Mods Appreciated!

Recommended Posts

HI all, I am planning on purchasing an RS200 tiptronic Altezza in January or February depending on what is in the UK at the time.

If something comes ready modded then it will be good but otherwise I am going to have to take it to get it tuned myself.

Does anyone have any idea about 0-60mph times? If I take a standard one and add the Blitz supercharger, HKS exhaust, induction kit and aftermarket ECU what fo you think the 0-60mph would get down to? I am hoping for six seconds.

If anyone knows of any knwoledgable people in Japan on the Altezza that speak English I would love to hear from them, I have tried navagating the sites of a couple fo Altezza clubs in Japan and have sent a couple of emails so will see if I get a response.

They seem to have tried every mod under the sun so I would like to hear their views on the Blitz supercharger especially reliability once tuned.

Thank you for your time, I am looking forward to getting one of these cars they are perfect for what I need.

Hi & welcome in Nick-

Someone like Zee will correct me if I'm wrong, but usually the 4cyl RS models are turbo'd for extra power and the 6cyl AS models are supercharged. Both mods available in UK via their branch of the Lexus Owners Club, with discount if you become a gold member.

Certainly we see stacks of different mods over here with the flood of Jap import vehicles. Best thing that ever hit this country!

Good luck, and remember not to hurry into buying the first one you see! How about checking out Supracharged in the UK club? He was talking about importing them via Germany a few months back.

Hi, heres the best setup for most hp.....

Blitz Induction System - Blitz Supercharger - HKS Racing 4-2-1 Headers - HKS Hiper Cat back exhaust...then your car will fly...don't forget Apex S-AFC

Suspension

Just some Tein Coilovers and aftermarket Struct and Sways bar will be done....that it you got a 2.0liter supercar!!!

Many thanks for your replies.

I am really looking forward to getting an RS200, they are a great looking car, some of the bodykits even look super and normally I don't like a bodykit on most cars, they are not over the top thugh which is good!

Matt, that is exactly what I wanted to hear, that sounds great, all that can be done at TDI over here, hopefully it won't be too extortionate, do you think it will still be reliable, will I need the automatic transmission uprated and fixed up to take the extra power?

What 0-60mph times would you expect, do you think it would drop below 6 seconds by any chance? I will get the Racelogic traction control fitted as well just to be on the safe side.

I will let you all know when I am going to look at a car, there seem to be quite a lot coming to the UK now so something black should come in, I found a pic of one that came in in the exact spec I want but has been sold, I don't know if I can attach it though, no just checked and it has to at a webpage, I have it stored on my hard disk unfortunately, is black RS200 with bodykit and auto transmission, perfect spec, looks the dog's bo**ocks! Your cars look nice by the way, you have some great Altezzas over in NZ.

The standard 2 litre 6cyl is stable up to around 300 HP,and the UK boys are running standard auto transmissions which seem to be up the task in most cases.

I think it's gonna be tough to break 6 sec 0-100 kph-for instance one of the lads has an IS200 equipped with a TDi supercharger and Manual Gearbox, and he's pulling 6.58 sec on average. I'm squeezing 6.69 out of my N/A engine(auto),but its had a fair bit of tinkering done prior to me owning it.

NOS will help! :D
