    Morning all,

I am considering buying a GSE31R IS350 luxury or sports luxury.  I've heard they are not too good on fuel.

I've searched the forum etc but was hoping for a little more precise info.

I was just wondering if I could get feedback from people on the actual fuel consumption for suburban only (not daily commuting into CBD) and highway only assuming driven quite conservatively (yes, perhaps a bit of a waste!)

    Thank you for your feedback

    Kelshouse

My 2012 IS350 was normally getting 15.8-16 L per 100kms this was 100% inner city Sydney driving with no highways. Max speed about 70kms and heaps on traffic..

Happy Holidays everyone! this is my first post here, i have a question regarding my 2011 IS350. Do any of you have an aftermarket cold air intake or your 2IS? if so, would you recommend getting one? I'm interested in the F-Sport air intake for mine, i already have a full invidia catback on the car but feel like adding more to it. Also how do you all time your car's 0-100 km/h as accurately as possible? (i know 0-100 time isn't something i should be too fussed about but i'm genuinely curious) 😅

I would select an aftermarket upgrade that is a filter within a sealed box, like the F Sport. I have this on my IS350, the increase in diameter on the cold air intake vs. stock makes a big difference. I did monitor using ODII scan tool to read OEM setup for airflow off the MAF sensor and compared after the install of F Sport intake & K&N highflow filter. The numbers did jump, now does this translate into Kw gain, not sure because I didn't dyno before or after. Lexus claim 2-3HP gain, nothing to write home about. In short an intake will not massively change much in the car other than aesthetics and sound.... Hey $600-$800 for a good looking car, is worth it!!!

    15L seems average

my lc does around 17-18l per 100

    but its a weekend car

when i was daily a isf i used to get around 13-14

Yesterday I saw 10L on the highway. Normal city driving around 13L in stop go traffic with the aircon on, but on average I sit around 10-12L. Not sure if the PPE headers and exhaust help with fuel economy. Basically it is roughly the same economy as my old is350.

The RCF is a completely different tune to ISF so that could play a part also. Think the RCF makes 50hp more over the stock ISF.

Decent figures you are both achieving , assuming quoted numbers are 100% balls to the wall driving, but every now and then opening up the throttle to redline.

The 2UR in RCF has Atkinson/Otto cycle that is claimed to make it more efficient. What is surprising is 2UR in ISF or RCF is more economical than a 2GR in IS/RC 350.

On average i get 10.5l/100kms in my ISF.

    Highest I've seen is 13l/100kms

Hope that give you some idea

    That is impressive for a V8 - I was getting 15.8L per 100kms on my 2GR V6 100% city driving.

Is your figures highway or city?

  5. Hello CLA members,

I am keen to see the sort of fuel consumption Liters/per 100kms members have been achieving on 2UR in RCF's?

If you share your figures, what driving more was this in?

Are you are mixture of highway & city or just one or the other?

    Thanks

Good pick mate, I think these look best in white. She's beautiful! Love the red interior. Now it just needs a nice exhaust to release that rumble 😁

Thanks mate, I am planning to look into a resonator delete for now, this way the volume will increase.

I am keen to get out to a F model drive, but still waiting to be accepted into Lexus F Club Australia on FB....

My ISF extended warranty just ran out and I'm not really concerned at all. I assume they would cover those engine parts you mentioned.

Go for it if you need a peace of mind. 🙂

Have you got any photos of the new car? 😁

I think I will pass on the extended.

    Here are some photos...

Don't bother. Wear and tear are not covered and the only thing that would be covered is your drivetrain. Personal preference though 🙂

I'm on my third Lexus and the only thing that broke was a flat battery 🤣

So don’t worry right? Do u have it on your ISF now ?

Lexus extended warranty wouldn’t cover O2 sensor, bushings, water pump?

My ISF is a 2011 bought it with 2 years left on the extended warranty, it is good piece of mind though.

Did u use of claim anything that need to be fixed over the 2 years? I have played the game of shelling out cash on Lexus extended on my IS350 for 3 years, the only things that went wrong were wear parts so couldn’t claim. Waste of cash for a piece of mind.

  10. Hi,

    I have purchased a 2015 RCF from a Lexus dealership pre-owned.

The factory warranty is 4 years default, because this car was purchase and traded in at a Lexus dealer, there is an opportunity to buy extended warranty. The cost is a flat fee of $1,770 AUD for 3 years and maximum 150,000 kms.

Do you think it is worth it? I purchased extended warranty on my IS350, and over 3 years didn’t claim anything, considering the RCF has much more tech, not sure if I should do it?

I was told extended warranty can only be purchase before I take delivery of the car.

    Thanks

would you sell the PPE's and Wheels separately (either Original F Sport or 19" Forged set)?

Sorry, I wouldn't, it would cost me $2,000 in labour to get the header out, the wheel I would consider selling provided you can swap your wheels. What do you have and how is the tyres on them? Are you Sydney based?

  13. Hi,

I drive 2012 350 F Sport with full bolt ons. I have owned my car for 7 years and have the 7 year itch and plan to buy an F model (ISF or RCF) early in 2020. I am leaning towards an RCF.

I have been monitoring on Carsales/Cars Guide ISF & RCF's nationally (I am NSW based) and have noticed one thing, all vehicle in on the market for a long time, with a large number of sellers consistently lowering prices marginally. In all ISF cases the asking price is higher than Redbook evaluation.

I understand reasons being the F model and imposed "brotax" that is the reason why I want to purchase an RCF. The usual conversation with seller is, hi thanks for the call, this vehicle has a high level of interest....

I believe there is a high level of interest in the vehicles but as the ISF & RCF are valued too high by sellers, prospective buyers are reluctant to buy at these prices, its a stand off. The ISF's "brotax" is significantly higher than the RCF's with a 2014 RCF only costing more than $8,000-$10k than 2010 ISF's, crazy!

What do you think is driving this, and what is your advice for me the pick up a better deal on a RCF?

The owner was happy for me to visit his Lexus dealership to go over the car. From my inspection there was nothing of concern. The car has obviously been looked after. The log book showed a service history every 5,000kms with Lexus. Like you say, I have also see people abuse these cars on YouTube and they have over 300,000kms on the clock. As long as the service is carried out regularly these drive trains are bulletproof. RR racing have a 700hp supercharger kit and no engine/ transmission mods required. This tell me that Lexus have over-engineered these cars.

Thanks for the tune advice. Think I'll leave the car as is for now. I hardly get traction in first and second gear on 275 Michellin SuperSport tires haha. The owner says it should be making around 300kw at the wheels as is. I'm keen to do a few dyno runs soon and see for myself.

Yes, thanks again.. I am itching to buy a ISF or RCF in the next 2 years, just need to enjoy my IS for a few more years. When I trade up, if ISF is the choice I will target minimum 2012 upwards. I know Lexus' and ever more so ISF engine and gearbox can take a beating with several hundred 000 on the dial.. good idea for piece of mind, get a Lexus dealership o give it the once over...

300kw at wheels sound right, jump on to RR Racing and u will see dyno results with similar set up to u. So sounds about right...

ISF will go down as a cult car similar to GTR etc, prices are trending down but eventually a time will come when prices go the other way, when they become more rare and then "bro tax" comes into play....

The car popped up on sale about a month ago in NSW. I contacted the owner the same day the car was advertised on carsales and organised a time to meet the following Saturday. He was very fair and said there was a lot of interest but he wouldn't sell the car to anyone until I see it as I was the first one to enquire. I flew to Sydney at 6am he following Saturday, purchased the car by midday and drove it back to Brisbane the same day. The car is in absolutely immaculate condition. Still has the new car smell. Looks as it was just driven off the showroom floor.

All the work was done by the original owner. All the aftermarket parts were originally sourced through Lexus and fitted by Lexus, which gave me a peace of mind that it was done properly. The car has PPE headers, joe z exhaust, swift springs, f sport forged wheels, few steering mods and a flat bottom carbon steering wheels. The owner also included all the original parts in the sale; Original BBS forged wheels, headers, steering wheel etc.

That is such a good series of events to secure a car that is in top conditions with Lexus fitted quality aftermarket bolt-ons... I hope I can replicate this series of event when I decide to get into the market for an ISF. I want do it just yet, not for the lack of money but more so because I still love my IS350 and don't want to let it go just yet....

Did you get someone to look over the car, or you did it all yourself? ISF are good cars, all ISX are, I have seen YouTube clips of stock ISX with almost 200,000 kms that are spinning the factory quoted numbers! Amazing....

Once you settle in on the power and the drive, I suggest jumping on RR Racing website and look at purchasing a flash tune for the ISF..

I haven't driven an IS350 with FBO unfortunately. The closest I got was a cat back and an intake. I'm sure the headers improve it a lot.

I know the feeling. I loved my IS350 too much to let go so I gave it to my parents. I picked up my F with 46000kms for around 50k. There are good deals out there but you have to be quick.

I've never driven a stock ISF so it is hard to say what the difference is compared to mine with FBO. From my experience so far, both IS350 and ISF are great cars. ISF is a bit quicker, has a great V8 sound and is rare. I think my favourite part is the car is the rarity. Feels like you're driving something very very special.

All the best with your future purchase!

Pearlisf $50k for ISF with 46,000 kms with FBO..is a steal for a 2012 ISF how long ago did you purchase?  Did the FBO come with the car, can you list them? I have never driven an ISF but I envy them and agreed it's very rare to see one on the road....
