  5. In my experience BP Ultimate and Mobil 98 gave the most milage, whilst Shell went through quicker. Not a fan of Caltex 98.

  8. Was originally purchased with a project in mind but mate is flooded with other projects and will take too long to get round to this. Currently listed on gumtree as well. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lidcombe/cars-vans-utes/lexus-2010-is350-f-sport-sedan-stat-writeoff-for-parts-only-/1015537418 Asking $12k. Good for parts or if a few of the boys get together and pool the funds and part if out. Very cheap way for 250 owners to upgrade to a 350!!!
  9. Thanks for the response!! i got one side for fairly cheap because the back of it broke, but was fixed, they say its all in working order tho.. and the other side was reasonable too it was $389 plus about $150 shipping so i spent about $600 total for headlights (including shipping) Also about the cutoff line, i thought it didn't matter because i see Chrysler and mercedes with hids which hurt your eyes from the side (both projectors - cutoff line?) and in australia i heard we dont need the indicator relay which needs to be replaced when upgrading ?? and will the headlights have the side marker orange light ?(under reflector) because they were bought from the states, in AU we dont have that on lexus.. it would look cool though.. and this D.I.Y is excellent if you havent seen it: you should check it out http://www.clublexus...ion-how-to.html and one last thing do you know how to re-pin the wires exactly ? i havent really done much other than source the parts. thanks for the link though. that is well and truly one super detailed writeup.
  10. I did the same thing not too long ago. Best thing to do is get the covers from the dealers. I was lucky enough to source a busted up second hand set on ebay so reused the back covers on that.If i hadnt been able to next step would have been the dealers. I was told u need to realign the cutoff as its opposite sides in the states. Bulbs are the same. Ive got mine with a mate whos working on other stuff as well so havent seen the finished result.
  11. wait til you see the price for the fog lights alone lol. that bits a pain, as you cant leave the gap there but justifying the price of the fogs is a bit hard. on the + side the fog light surroundding covers are $86. just a shame you cant get generics or aftermarket fog lights for the new shape on ebay etc
  12. I had the original assymetrics before the 2's came out. Quite expensive but worth it i reckon. Quiet, grippy and predicatable handling. Also all the reviews rate them very very highly. only thing is i found they wore a little quicker than i'd like.
  13. By Tim Beissmann | January 16th, 2013 Print page 2 The 2013 Lexus IS has been unveiled at the Detroit auto show, sporting sharp styling, a supercar-inspired cabin, greater practicality and a brand new hybrid option. All three variants of the third-generation Lexus IS – the IS250 , IS350 and the new petrol-electric IS300h – will go on sale in Australia from the third quarter of this year, some eight years after the outgoing second-gen model first arrived in 2005. Lexus says it has taken a fresh approach in developing the new IS, claiming “every aspect … has been engineered with a renewed focus on engaging performance, agile handling, accurate response to driver input and highly communicative feedback”. Lexus IS chief engineer Junichi Furuyama said it was his intention to deliver customers in the premium mid-sized sedan segment a vehicle offering an entertaining driving experience. “The conventional approach involves developing each individual aspect in the hope that they will combine to offer an engaging driving experience,” Furuyama said. “By contrast, development of the new IS flipped this process on its head, first establishing the pleasurable driving experience owners desire, and then developing the individual performance elements to support it.” The 2013 Lexus IS inherits its new multi-link rear suspension and electric power steering systems from the larger Lexus GS sedan. The revised front suspension set-up is 20 per cent more rigid than before, while overall body rigidity has been enhanced through the use of new construction techniques. Like the GS, Lexus is offering F Sport versions of each model variant, which, along with more aggressive exterior styling and racier cabins, also score sports-tuned steering and adaptive variable suspension, while variable gear ratio steering is available in the IS350. Lexus Australia expects 30 per cent of new IS customers to tick the F Sport option box, and as many as half of all IS350 buyers. The IS250 and IS350 will continue to be powered by 2.5- and 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines respectively, with the later carrying over the powerplant from the previous-generation car. The IS300h is equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. The hybrid system is tipped to produce about 162kW, while Lexus is targeting combined cycle fuel consumption below 4.3 litres per 100km and CO 2 emissions of less than 100 grams per kilometre. The IS250 continues with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the IS350 scores the eight-speed auto from the Lexus LS. The IS300h features a continuously variable transmission (CVT). At 4665mm, the 2013 Lexus IS is 80mm longer than the previous model, while the wheelbase has grown 70mm to 2800mm. Lexus says the full benefit of this growth is evident in the back seats, with the new model offering an extra three inches of knee space for second-rowers. The boot has also grown more than 20 per cent to 480 litres (450L for the hybrid, which has to accommodate a rear-mounted battery pack), and for the first time the rear seats can be folded forwards in a 60:40 split. The IS sedan’s cockpit is inspired by the Lexus LFA supercar, with a high-tech TFT display in the instrument cluster. The angle of the steering wheel has been lowered and its reach adjustment increased, both of which team with a newly designed driver’s seat with more lateral support to offer a more driver-focused seating position. Like the new GS and LS , an analogue clock keeps time in the middle of the centre console, while the IS scores Lexus-first electrostatic switches for the climate control system, which allows occupants to adjust temperature settings with the touch of a finger. Ten airbags (including rear seat side bags) are standard, while available advanced driver assist systems include auto high beams, lane departure alert, blind spot monitor, and rear cross traffic alert.
  14. well look on the bright side, even if it doesnt and u get a GS you've got an awesome car either way :-)
  15. As above. The number in S mode is just what you've restricted the cars available gears to. So if u've got 1 showing it'll just keep bouncing off the limiter on Gear 1. If it shows 2 than car can use first 2 gears. Think of it as automatic with gear restriction rather than a manual over-ride. If you're an enthusiastic driver you should be able to work with it and get the car to be in the gear u want. Takes a while but you'll get used to it. Otherwise, as always, if you want full control you'll have to get a manual, or an ISF lol
  16. I've noticed that stock wheels are pretty hard to move on ebay. Ive watched a few listings and those would definitely be harder to sell than the F-Sports which i know are highly desirable. A mate of mine who works at a tyre shop had sold those for a customer @ 2.2K with about 50 kms on them. Customer went straight from dealer to shop to get aftermarket rims. Hope that info is of some use to you. Also, just to note that once you sell any set of wheels/tyres over 1.2k than its starts to reduce the amount of buyers as 1.2k buys a set of 18" no names with new tyres. Obviously thats not the same quality as Lexus wheels however it seems most ppl dont care and if they're going to spend that sort of money they get something that looks different than stock.
  17. I've got a 2007 Sports Luxury and was offered 29K as a tradein against a 350 F Sport. Hope that info is of some use to you.
  18. Headlight design? Silly? Possibly. But definitely different and like nothing before it. This looks to be a car that people will not mistaken for anything else on the street and i do have to give lexus credit for being so out there with the design. If anything the IS series has always been a little less conservative than the rest of the Lexus range. I can see your point with the steering wheel though, but trust me, have a look at Mazda 3's steering wheel and you'll think this ones fine. Its very much cluttered on the 3! The only thing that bothers me is that massive spindle grill. Looks alright now but once the licence plate goes on i think itll look a little silly.
  19. Check It out guys. http://www.caradvice.com.au/207316/2013-lexus-is-revealed-aggressive-design-for-premium-mid-sizer/ Also a video on another thread as well. Looks awesome.......! Gotta' love the digital speedo borrowed from the LF-A! Closest i'm ever gonna' get to an LF-A! lol
  20. Hey All, Just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy new year and thanks for all those who come to the meets and show off their mods. Always a pleasure to see new rides! Cheers,
