  1. what about the software? Is there a way of upgrading it via the DVD? If so - can someone with a brand new IS250 My10 help out? I'm sure there would be more people for this upgrade option than me only.

In case I could help - I have the Ver15 dvd map if anyone needs it.

    Thank you in advance :)

I know I'd be interested in that sort of software upgrade! I doubt it has anything to do with ver15, of course.

    Isn't Ver16 due out soon?

  2. Speaking of cruise controllers gone wild - It was all over yesterdays news with a Ford Explorer cruise controller jamed at 100km/h.

The ironic thing is the guy's name is "Chase"

Not a good situation to be in...

sounds like attention seeking to me. what on earth would stop him turning off the igntion? just doesn't make sense to me.

  3. Well my My09 Prestige, once the speed is set, will slow down and downshift automatically when going downhill which is really a handy function so who knows - it may be the new ECU for it in the newer models.

ahh...maybe the year model is the answer then.

    thanks.

09 Prestige car seems to use the gear box to slow down although I dont think there is any break application purely engine/compression breaking.

yeah I've looked into it a bit more. they do what even a basic corolla does...if you're travelling downhill and the speed is increasing it'll change down to use engine braking, but not actually use the brakes.

tick one to Prius I suppose.

  4. Hi, I am a locksmith working in Sydney. We recently had to make keys to a 08 IS250, the owner had lost them all.

Can somebody please tell me the part numbers on the back of the 4 button key fob, I did not record these and need them for my records.

    The American fob has markings

    FCC ID: HYQ14AAB

    IC: 1551A-14AAB

    DENSO

Not sure if the Australian fob has the same numbers.

    Thanks

    FCC ID: HYQ14AAB

    IC: 1551A-14AAB

    DENSO

looks like aussie and US the same.

  5. I've done a search, but can't find this discussed anywhere.

I drove a series III Prius today with radar cruise control. I noticed that it actually brakes if, for example, you go down a hill which would increase the speed.

I have a 2006 IS250 SL. The radar cruise certainly brakes quite hard if necessary to match the speed of the car in front, but if there's no car in front and you're travelling downhill, the speed will increase unchecked.

Has the Prius just got a better system, or is there's something up with mine?

  6. I just drove into my garage and it was dark enough to bring on the parking lights only. I put a small sheet of translucent white plastic over the sensor and the lights came on immediately. Backed out of the garage and the lights turned off. I might be on to something! If it works (i.e. brings on the lights earlier) I can trim it and I suspect it will be hardly noticeable.

  7. Probably the quickest and easiest way is to lower your hand down from the steering wheel and adjust the little switch to lights on! :D

Anyway, I have read the manual on this and it needs to be done by the service dealer. I don't think it's a big job. I was actually thinking of making mine less sensitive. I don't see the point of the lights coming on for a second when you driver under a bridge, it get's rather annoying. I'm getting my first service in 2 weeks and may get them to adjust it.

Not sure what setting mine are on, but I do notice under some bridges it changes in intensity. I think in lowish light the parkers must come on, and as it gets darker in the tunnel, I then see the whiter xenons do their rollup initiation thing and come on. So I think the headlights dont just automatically come on, a lower light parker engages first before the full headlights. Anyone else notice this?

    Regards

I've noticed it. Parkers definitely come on in marginal light conditions. coming on under bridges is annoying, but as well as sensitivity, you can adjust the delay.

my car is dark greay...it now on full sensitivity and it STILL isn't coming on early enough. street lights and lights of other cars are on much earlier. i still need to change the delay too to stop the bridge thing.

    Anyone have any answers?

    Peter
