  1. I absolutely love the ISF. I am so stoked at getting into the car.

The car is only a weekender for me so it gives me something to look forward to at the end of each week:)

I have a question for those that have an ISF. I noticed that the CIGARETTE lighter is missing in the centre console. I'm talking about the section next to the USB connection. I dont smoke, but am wondering if there's supposed to be a cigarette lighter or is it supposed to be empty?

    Thanks

Thats just a 12volt outlet , think phone charger.

  2. Maybe we should check out www.icode.jp . seems they have the fastest isf so far...?

Im trying to order the silicone intake and the throttle body from them , hopefully i hear back from them soon.

ECU beening cracked Im told is a bit away .so bolt on mods is best at the moment. Hopefully going to get a set of headers and see how it all goes..

Good luck dogmatix on your deveelopment of the exhaust... i hope all works well,

Check out the JoeZ exhaust it has the X pipe you speak of.

  3. LHD and RHD different?

i thought they were the same

Well im told there is a steering shaft in the way , and so the route of the pipes is different.

As for the JoeZ exhaust ,it deletes one set of cat converters, and sounds.... just awesome... ive never been pulled over bout the sound,... Actually i have.. but the cop was awesome bout it , told me to give it a bit of a rev, (seems he loves V8s, and told me thats how they should all sound)

Im home next week, im going to try and go see this guy bout the headers.. then i will report back here.

Willing to catch up and show you all the sound...

    Richie

    Hey Richie,

How did you get a hold of the JoeZ in Aus ?

    Thanks

    Mike

Hi Mike, I ordered it thru L-tuned parts (carson toyota ) in the states. Cost was close to $2500 once it was here, freight was crazy priced, and then customs fees (even thou i asked the guy to put a different price on the invoice.)

Then i fitted it myself...Im a mechanic so i borrowed a mates hoist.. took all of bout 1.5 hours...the fit and finish is excellent.

From behind the car, all you can see is 2 polished pipes.. I also matte blacked out the tips , so it looks as close to stock as possible. i dont know how to add web links.. but there is a full fitting page with pics on line.

    Google "joez exhaust isf"

    Thanks mate.

  5. Hi all,

Some of you may or may not know i have the JoeZ cat back Exhaust fitted to my Is-F. And while there is currently not anyone supplying us RHD guys with a Set of headers, Ive tracked down a guy who might be able to make us a few sets.

Now im hoping to get my car to him in the next few weeks (working interstate can be hard to plan things) and see how we go.

Who would be keen for a nice set of headers...?

    Richie.

  6. Hi

I've recently been trolling around the various Lexus ISF message forums.

There have been discussions when brake dust forms on the stock ISF rims and you leave it unwashed for a period of time, that rust forms on the rims.

Can anyone in Australia confirm this fact?

They are saying there are some design flaws in the BBS rims..

    THanks.

    Hi mate,

True i think ... My rims are showing some form of not sure you would call it rust however. its in the corner of the spokes maybe where the first owner didnt wash the rims properly and left brake dust in there .... its def pitted the surface...

Will try and get some pics..

    Richieisf.

  7. Well the ISF is well and truely run in now, drove to Adelaide and back form Christmas.

    Trip was relatively uneventful except a couple of things;

    1. Bloody Local councils need to workout how to stop stones flying up from their lawn mowing in the middle of nowhere! first stone chip in passenger door

    2. Locusts don't add much to the paint quality

    3. Developed a couple of rattles

    4. Return trip Fuel average was 9.6 Litre / 100 km, a little disappointing but maybe the engine is still a little tight.

As I say all good though, comfy 7.5 hour trip each way.

Hey mate , Glad to hear your trip went well, I bought my car from Melbourne and drove to Sydney , so I know bout stonechips. (not happy Jan )

Lexus has Revised dash clips which they fitted to mine...all good now.!!

On My return trip from Melbourne, i averaged around the 8.9 litre /100 kms.. so im guessing ur engine was a touch tight ,

What fuel was you using .?

  8. Quality not quantity was the theme for the night.

Richie with the best sounding IS-F I've heard wins the man of the match award for the night. Nice to meet you Richie.

Hey mate, nice to meet you all also ..

Thanks for your nice words,However the IS350 F sport looks like the bargain buy of the year..

bet IS-F sounded good on Vic Rd??

Next time im down near you, i might drop in and take one for a spin....if i may .! lol

Catch you guys next time, Hope you all have a great Xmas, and an even better New years.!

    Richie

  9. Hi Blacky,

From the sign in and "2 years" to find a new ride can I assume you have just defected from a BMW 130i?

I made the same choice this year 130i to a MY10(update)ISF .... aweseome ride.......but still couldnt help making it a little better.

So far have fitted the F sport brakes and Forged rims, just fitted a set of KW V 3 coilovers. Big improvement in both handling and ride.

Hi mate, Would be Awesome to catch up wit you some time and check out your ride..

Ive got a 08 Isf, with a few goodies also fitted that improve that awesome V8 sound and power.!

Also Congrats Blacky on the purchase... The Lexus is a better car then the Beemer anyday .!

    Richie

  10. Congrats on the purchase...

Ive got a Blue ISF and I love it to bits.!

I also checked out the M3, and the Audi RS5, but the Lexus won me over...

The MY11 has slightly different engine mounts (stiffer material used) and the shocks and spring rates have been played with .

The orignal ISF was said to be way too stiff, and a bit hairy at high speed.(if you saw the stock rear sway bar you would see why )

I fitted a F sport Is350 rear to help plant it better in corners.!

That V8 sound gets better when u fit a Exhaust .lol!

Looking forward to seeing your pics.!

    Richie

Thats a nice colour you have. I test drove the 2nd generation isf. What really annoyed about it was the steering wheel. It seems kind of thin for a sports car. Do you. Know if the my11 isf has a more thicker steering wheel?

Yeah i guess the steering wheel is kinder thin aint it ...i cant confirm if it does or not..

I do wish i could get a later model wheel on mine, there colour coded, and look smick .!

If you have any other info you wanna know , let us know.

    Richie

  12. i think jakes is talking about the talking back to the cops

    Rule no.1

Never talk back to the cop

if they say u did something sorry

    dont fight back

just say sorry you wont do it again

and they'll let u off most of the time

they just want to show who runs the show

Actually, I can speak from Experience here,

I had my IS-F about 2 weeks, and on a drive to Castle Hill, I found my self behind a Cop in His Purple SS. He dropped off the road just to let me pass then jump on the wailer.

I pulled in off the road but positioned myself so that he was parked across someones drive way. B) Then he came to my window wearing Tom Cruises Glasses from Top Gun, and said, Did you know that having your Fog lights on is a $84 fine and 1 demerit point.. i then replyed, oh is it ,? Sweet!

I said well that being the case, lucky I dont have my fogs lights on , in fact this car doesnt have fog lights.!! :D He then got a tad upset and said, yes the little lights at the bottom of your bumper, I said they were Driving lights and that Fog lights were in fact Yellow as per sold on JDM cars where they have bad fogs. and that mine were in fact slight blue lights, and that i worked in mining and we follow a "be safe be seen " motto, and i was doing my part in reducing the road toll.(followed by a slight smile)

He then knew i had him cause he dropped it , and asked for my licence and when i asked why did i do something wrong, he stated that heaps of this model get stolen and he wanted to do a rego check .

He then walked to his car on to return and ask me what was it i was driving.? ( i thought heaps of them get stolen??)

He then didnt bother doing the rego check , just looked at my DOB (im 28) and the car and said something was wrong and that a young person shouldnt hav such a car.

I said i work hard for my money , and so i enjoy my toys.!

He finished up our convo with a smile and "have a great day mate"

    True Story !

  13. hey guys

i was driving tonight and i noticed sometimes when i brake, a squeaky high pitched sound comes from the brakes (front ones i think)

my mum thinks we should change the brakes, but its only done 27,900km's and i thought brakes should last around 50,000km's

i dont know that much and i dont wanna get ripped off by changing brakes for no reason,

if you guys could tell me wat to change or wat to do i would really appreciate it

im thinking i need to change the pads or something, not the whole thing tho

    thanks

Mate it could be just dust built up,

Tell you what ,Since you live in Sydney ,i could have a quick look at it for you if you wish , (Im a qualified Mechanic of 11 yrs)

Would love to check out your ride anyway .

    Let me know via PM.

  14. dis-lex-sic, could you PM the details of those in Sydney who supply and fit the VAIS?

Sydney City Lexus quoted me something like $700 for the vais stuff, which i thought was a bit much..

Hi , do you have this product in your car, ? If you did, id love to see it working before i decided to get one myself,. Do you have the details of them peeps that fit and supply these.?

    ~Richie~

    PM sent.

Is this the kit we are all talking bout ?

I went to a place yesterday in Castle hill that is a dealer in the VAIS stuff, and they didnt seem to know exactly what was going on , or what i was talking about.

So I had another look, and found there are other places in Sydney that can supply these also , So as they say in the classics, the search continues.!

  16. Yes I believe you are correct that it is the same one. I think the VAIS is what all Lexus dealers are fitting. I don't know of another option. Except all late '09 on IS250 come with a factory USB which IMO works better.

As a tip if any of you decide to get a VAIS installed don't go for the iPod specific kit. Instead get the USB kit. Its the same except for the end connection. This way you can still run an Ipod just the same but also have the option of running other accessories.

A USB flash drive works great and is much less of a risk left in the car.

If anyone in Sydney wants one PM me & I can put you intouch with someone that supplies an fits VAIS products.
