  1. I forgot to mention: those prices are in Japanese yen, not the [british] pound as Google Translate would suggest. So it's around A$920 for brake pads and A$65,000 for a full Stage 3 kit.
  2. Answers for the issues not previously addressed by others: Yes, others have received the recall letter. This recall was discussed here: http://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9948&st=0 I'm not sure why Lexus would tell you the vehicle wasn't subject to any outstanding recalls in March 2011, and then send you the recall letter when that recall was known to Lexus Australia on or before 1 February, 2011. See your Lexus dealer to have rattles resolved. They will do their best to fix them. Do you have the MY08 (first series - no indicators on mirrors) or the MY09 (second series - no indicators on mirrors)? Downshifts on the first series are almost double those on the second series (0.8 seconds). I am also advised by ilv1004s that, in S mode, gear changes through the gear knob are faster than on the paddles.
  3. I don't often use this phrase ... but this is FULLY SICK: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.trdparts.jp%2Flexus%2Fisf_ccsp%2Fconcept.html
  4. wishes the 4.9% Lexus finance deal extended to IS350s

  5. Okay ... combining what I just read in my own copy of the MY10 Owners Manual, together with the observations and knowlege of Aircon, x250x, LEX51S and others, here's what we know: MY06-MY08: By default, remote control can open AND close windows. Owners Manual is vague and misleading. MY09-MY10: By default, remote control does not operate windows, but a dealer can configure the remote control to "open only", "close only" or "open and close". Owners Manual states this fact at one point, while being misleading at another. MY11: By default, remote control does not operate windows (Duy's experience), but Lexus of Parramatta says it can be configured (after initially saying it couldn't). @Duy, after seeing the dealer, does the remote now work the way you want it to?
  6. I just checked an Owners Manual for 2005-2008 models. It looks like there has never been a feature to close windows using the wireless remote control. You can, however, have your Lexus dealer configure your IS so that the windows are opened when you use the remote to unlock your vehicle. Yes, I understand that's not what you're looking for, but the reason may be more serious than what ilv1004s suggested. I remember reading on a forum somewhere that somebody injured a child left in an older Lexus RX when he/she operated the remote while not looking at the car and/or not restraining the child when the windows and moonroof were closing. I've had my IS for over a year, and have used the door button to lock the car 95% of the time. I find it easier than reaching for the remote in my pocket. Hmmm, that would be a security issue if that was allowed. Did you mean: "... it locks itself if it cannot detect the keys?" No. If, however, you unlock the car but don't open any of the doors within 30 seconds, the car will re-lock all doors. "... so that there is a way to get into the car if cannot detect the electronic key?" Yes. Your key fob includes a mechanical key for opening the doors. To start the car, there is a procedure for using the key fob like a proximity card against the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You would still need some charge in the key battery before this would work, but I'm sure you would replace the battery or start using your second electronic key before the battery became fully discharged.) This is explained in the Owners Manual.
  7. As long as your dealer stamps the logbook to show that the service was done according to the book, I wouldn't worry too much: - Toyota techs used to do that on cars that they serviced for me over 11 years. I ignored the stickers and stuck by the logbooks, and didn't have a problem. - I now have the same car as you, and my dealer programs the EMV to remind me of a service in 12 months/15000 km (they don't use stickers).
  8. 12 mths/15000 km, unless you drive your car under certain conditions listed in the logbook. To summarise those conditions: - off-road driving - frequent start/stop driving at low speed ("like a taxi," I've been told) - towing - other conditions not normally found in Australia The frequency in such cases is 6 mths/7500 km. By suggesting another service at 5000 km, it sounds like the service centre was eager to see you sooner and make more money from you. Was it a Lexus service centre?
  9. haha really? These come with the later of the models pre installed ... really???? my 350 doesnt have it Only later SL models. The circuitry is totally different to this aftermarket goodie, although the end result is the same.
  10. From both you & the dealer. Other brands would have given up long ago. Good to know that, despite the tagline change, the Pursuit of Perfection is still Relentless.
  11. Lexus of Chatswood reports they expect to get the new GS "about Feb".
  12. Meguiar's Ultimate Wax Paste - ONLY $31.40 (liquid wax normally $59.95)

  13. Lexus Australia simply says "early 2012". I note that, when Lexus Australia gave a release date of "early 2011" for the CT200h, it was released in March. It has been said that there won't be a V8 version, with Lexus instead concentrating on providing an improved high-output hybrid version. The hybrid version will be released at a car show later this year. All we know so far, from the teaser photo, is that it will carry the Lexus hybrid badge. :P I don't think even Lexus Australia knows that yet. They would have to decide what features to put into each grade, and negotaiate the list price with Japan. Here's the Australian press release - the US press release was as informative as a dot-com company's product news flash ("it looks good and it does ... stuff"): http://www.lexus.com.au/about/news/2011/08/19/news-lexus_reveals_new_gs
  14. I feel there's enough disabled parking spaces at supermarkets and shopping centres - I hardly see them full, but releasing two or three spots to the general public won't solve any persistent parking issues in a 1000+-space car park. To me, the bigger problems are: - Too many "Parents with Prams" parking - the whole concept is dubious unless it's a multi-storey car park that lacks lifts between floors. - Lexus Australia removing the privilege of Lexus-only free parking spaces at the Sydney Opera House. ;) I would have used it at least ten times a year ...
