  1. yeah im in need of one in around 3000 km :( It will be a sad day when i have to replace it.

get a Gates brand belt, apparently they are the better ones, from repco or some place like that. will be around the $100 mark for the belt only or probably around the $300 mark to have a mechanic do it. Im doing mine myself.

  2. Ensure that when you install your new aftermarket pod filter, you install the new pipe the correct way so that the airflow sensor is facing the same way that it came out of the original airbox, so that it will function correctly. When its not correct the engine runs really rough...

for the dash trays, the piece you need to remove does not come out by prying at it with a screwdriver. The whole top piece with the air vents pull straight out towards the rear of the car and then you can use your screwdriver to remove the old tray from underneath....

I would have pics but I cant get then into the gallery for some reason.

  3. Last night Matt and I were cruising the city, we managed to stick a few L.O.C cards to some parked altezzas in parnell, we also ran into Altezza Girl on mission bay and checked out her ride, which I must say, It has the right kind of bolt on goodies under the bonnet (I will not say what they are, I will leave that for Altezza Girl)

Other than that it wasa quiet night, hopefully see more people next friday :)

  4. It may be confusing them because the windows that get supplied over here from smith and smith glass are for the IS300. on the IS300 windows the black border that runs around the outside edge of the window drops down lower behind the rear veiw mirror, which on the altezza it doesnt. Maybe they think thats where the mirror sticks to on that window.

I take it they havnt seen many altezzas, I got asked similar questions about it when I had mine replaced.

  5. The reverse beep has also saved my butt a few times.

when at stop signs i find if i go to put into first gear too fast and hard it can sometimes pop into reverse. I will deffinitly keep my beep :)

with painting the cars hubs I used CRC brakeclean to remove any silicon and oil residue then gave the rusty areas a scuff with coarse sandpaper. Then painted with VHT engine enamel which is heat, oil and chemical resistant.

  6. You in town hoon?

Gimme a yell,I'll sort secure parking and come on by for a (non alcoholic of course)drinkies and a catch up to look the scenery and art work in the clubs I'll be in....

PS I may have fractures but ardmore in two weeks? Need to.....

yeah im planning on going into town for a look, Ill give you a call but you need to answer your phone dude :)

Ardmore? good on ya mate. The way I see it , if you can still use or move the bones you can still ride. ;) just gotta be hard (or pumped on drugs for the pain)

You should come down to Waiuku (Kariotahi Beach) its an easy ride down the beach with some good dunes and a 5km or so trip south down the beach where we could get into the pine forest for a blast.

  7. I got my new Altezza a week ago. Freshend it up from its trip from its Homeland and had it complied. Been driving it around a bit and I have not much to say really. It is a great looking car and very comfy to drive. But where the hell is the 220BHP???? Over rated if you ask me. I was expecting alot more. Prob my fault as I think I expected to much from the Family sedan.

Such a shame they didn't come out with a 2ltr Turbo 3SGTE motor. Would make it a much more exciting car. I am now going to sell it and buy another 180SX. Wouldn't mind another Altezza to get to work and back though. They give such a nice ride making it great to head from Town to Howick each day. Would get an Auto though.

I also hear what you are saying. My last toy was a S4 Rx7 with TO4B turbo and stage 2 porting etc and going back to any N/A car was a real dissapointment.

I first went for the Altezza for the good looks and comfort .

I found it took a while to learn how to drive it properly to get the power out of it with the 6 speed, with the power characteristics of the 3SGE theres no way I would want an auto.

you are right, I also think they should have come with a 3SGTE. Im going to look into a MR2 engine for the rods, crank, pistons, turbo exhaust manifold and turbo etc, if it will all fit in nicely then hopefully it may save some money. Has anyone else looked into it?

  8. I had those problems with my series 4 mazda RX7 turbo. It was the injectors leaking fuel and flooding the engine. Because the fuel rail still has high pressure in it when you turn the car off it seeps through the injectors. The problem was quite common with the RX7 that there was an electronic module made to plug in to over come it.

So your problem could be similar or possibly some sort of ignition problem.

maybe you could get your injectors cleaned and flow tested (about NZ$30 per injector)

Anyhow goodluck, let us know what you find

  9. Heya chip - good stuff with the car, and the marriage. Hope u guys have an awesome day  :P

Someone did a post somewhere about using 98 octane petrol. Some selected BP and Mobile stations sell it. Which leads onto another question for others in the group - is the premium you pay for with 98 worth the extra 5c / litre over 96 ?

98 anytime...I use BP Ultimate after Aaron (Hoon) recommendation...

    Matt :D

yeah I reckon the BP 98 is best. The car seems to idle rougher on mobil 98

  10. Hello to all altezza owners! i just recently found this forum and am hoping you guys can help me solve this problem i'm having.... i recently had an accident (not car accident) and had a slipped disc on my lower back, this is causing my left leg to hurt when trying to use it, this includes pressing onto the clutch pedal :( . so, i just wanna ask if there's a mod to make the clutch pedal much lighter so i can still drive!? i'm not much of a tech person so please bear with my lack of knowledge in these things if this is actually a simple problem. i hope you guys can help me out on this, so i can get back to driving my altezza! thanks so much in advance!

    get a light weight flywheel...

    Matt :D

The light weight flywheel wont help. It is the pressure plate in the clutch that makes it hard to push.

The only ways I can think to make it lighter is change the pressure plate to a lighter rating(which you do not want to do cos the clutch will probably slip) so I think maybe a modification to the clutch pedal pivot points to give a better leverage to the clutch master cylinder may be needed. I will have a look at mine and see what could be done. Or talk to some clutch experts like Autoclutch.

Anyone else got any ideas we cant have anyone deprived of driving there Altezza :D
