  1. .

I didnt check with anyone, but the tyres (245/275) are still a legal size for the car. Changing tyres isn't a modification either.

You must check with your own states laws, but for tyres, the law common to most states is the over all diameter of the new tyres can't be more or less than 15mm of the OEM sized tyre diameter.

The 245/35R19 is 7.6mm less diameter than the OEM 225/40R19 tyre size.
The 275/30R19 is 12.7mm less diameter than the OEM 255/35R19 tyre size.

Thanks for the detail, I understand it better now.

I did run some calculations on the rolling dia but the numbers I got are slightly different from the ones you put above...

    225/40 on R19 is 2x(225x.4)+(19x2.54) = 228.26mm

and 245/35 on R19 using the above is 219.76 which is 8.5mm less and not 7.6mm.

Using this 275/30 is 13.5mm less than OEM.

Did you use a different formula ?

  2. I wouldn't recommend using any rotary applicator - these usually cause swirl marks in the first place.

Car washes typically use them and I've spent a lot of time on my previous car trying to remove the swirls.

I used Zaino Z2 & Z5 and hours to get them removed. The polish needs to go vertical on doors and horizontal on roof, hood & boot.

  3. Yea Danny I know anything other than stock won't pass the test. But as a big dealer selling something they know won't pass an EPA inspection, wouldn't they be liable (if it was installed by them, which for mans247's case it is not)?

I'm not an expert, but I don't believe they would be liable. No dealer would be responsible for the usage of parts supplied - you can legally use your car with aftermarket exhaust, tyres or ECU mods on a track.

I'm sure a tyre provide can fit slicks on cars, but doesn't mean they are liable if the owner decides drive on them straight away and use the car on public roads.

  4. I use Melbourne Lexus for my F and Jamie and the guys are pretty good. The only thing I have like from the beginning has been a slight rattle in my car which they have never fixed, even Lexus Aust did not fix (at least that is what they told me).

As I say, for services I have never had an issue always done on time or before and given a loaner, they have found things and replaced under warranty without me noticing. Always request a CT for a contrast ;-)

I've only done 1 service on my ISF which was at Brighton. Guys seem good, also managed to get a RX350 demo instead of the 250 they usually give as a courtesy. They also fixed a rattle noise which was bugging me for a while - it was from the rear boot separator in my case and only happened between 40-60 on uneven roads. I had to drive around a fair bit to actually show them what the sound was. Nice that it's fixed now :)

  5. Just a bumper bar costs around 500 - I'm guessing this would be around 2-3K for all exterior panels only.

I did think about this option once for my previous car, but people in the know advised me against this - it's costly and usually you'd not end up doing the interior bits and it'll look mismatched.

A good cut and polish (either DIY or by a professional) will do the job much better and results will be in-line with the age of the car. At max probably get a scratch repair done from a pro along with their cut/polish package to get a good deal.

  6. So, as long as I go 235/40 on front and 265 or 275/35 on rear the Speedo should do fine ?

I'd really like to see a car with these - how far to the tyres project past the body on yours - especially on the rear ?

I had changed to wider tyres on my previous car, it did feel different at lower speeds, the feedback from the wheel was a bit wierd - good at high speeds though. Did you notice any difference on yours ?
